Summer in Sunny Beach begins in the second half of May and lasts until mid-September. The average temperature of these months is +26°C.

The May warmth is very unstable. Either it is hot at the resort, or cold weather is approaching with rain. But already in June the weather levels off. The air temperature rises to +25°C, rains become rare and short-lived. It is advisable to come on holiday with a child in the second half of June, when the sea water warms up well.

The best holiday in Sunny Beach with children is at the end of June - beginning of July. At this time, the air and water temperatures remain at optimal levels, and the number of tourists does not yet go off scale.

In July - August the resort is overtaken by heat, although moderate. The average temperature is +28°C, although the thermometer often exceeds +30°C. The heat at the resort is not felt thanks to the sea breeze, but still you should go to Sunny Beach with a baby only at the end of August, when the air cools down a little.

The last days of summer and the beginning of autumn are a wonderful time for a holiday in Sunny Beach. During the day, the thermometer is only +25°C, the sea is still warm, and sunbathing lovers are finally not crowded on the beach.

In the second half of September it becomes colder, although the weather often remains clear and warm for a whole month. In October, a delightful silence sets in at the resort: tourists leave, entertainment centers close.

The resort will remain empty until next May. Note that Sunny Beach has quite cold nights. Even in summer it gets cold to +16-18°C in the evening. In May and September, night temperatures can drop to +12-15°C.

Sea water temperature

The main myth about beach holidays in southern Bulgaria: you can swim in the sea starting in May. Some people actually swim, but getting into water with a temperature of +16°C is not a pleasant experience.

But already at the beginning of summer the water temperature in Sunny Beach rises to +20°C, and by the end of June the sea becomes completely warm. At a water temperature of +23°C, children will splash around with pleasure, running ashore just for a break.

In July-August the sea temperature reaches its highest levels: +24-25°C. At the end of summer, the water will gradually cool down. By mid-September the temperature will drop to +22°C, and by the beginning of October - to +18°C.

Sea and beach

The wide and long sandy beach is the main pride of Sunny Beach. The flat coastal strip, covered with fine sand, stretches for 8 km, from Nessebar to Sveti Vlas. For cleanliness and environmental safety, the North and South beaches of the resort were awarded the European Blue Flag certificate.

The coast deservedly received this award: the city is remote from highways and railways, the beach is kept perfectly clean, and thanks to a carefully thought-out infrastructure, a beach holiday in Sunny Beach is always pleasant and safe. The only thing that is not enough on the shore are toilets.

Any part of the beach is suitable for a seaside holiday with children. The bottom is flat everywhere, the depth increases slowly.

In the afternoon the water becomes cloudy due to the disturbed sand, but by the next morning the sea becomes clear again. Sometimes algae washes up on the shore, but they are immediately removed. Entrance to the beach is free; a fee is charged only if you want to use a sun lounger and parasol.

Part of the coast is being landscaped by hotels - usually such places are completely filled with sun loungers, and it will not be possible to sit on the sand. But on the huge beach there is enough space to sunbathe for free.

There are surprisingly many hotels in Sunny Beach that offer all-inclusive meals. On the one hand, this removes worries about where to eat and what to feed the child.

Public transport in Sunny Beach is in demand like no other resort in Bulgaria: drive from end to end of the resort complex, go on an excursion to Nessebar, visit the small village of Sveti Vlas.

Buses No. 1, 3, 7 will take you to Nessebar, No. 10, 11 - to Burgas, No. 5 - to Sveti Vlas, No. 8 - to Elenite.
