The only month in which the price rises quite noticeably is August, but again, if you buy in advance, this should not be a problem. With S7, I would advise you to always use the flexible search function, since very often the prices, for example, for Wednesday, are very different from the prices for Saturday of the same week, and can also change almost every day (especially when there is one or two seats left on the plane) , so if you be careful, you can buy a ticket at a very good offer. How to get from the airport to Valencia

There is only one airport in Valencia and it is located 8 km from the city in the pueblo (village in Spanish) Manises. Although the airport is relatively small, only 2 terminals, I can say that it is quite convenient and well planned. Employees speak English (which is not so typical for Spain) and even sometimes there are Russian-speaking staff at the check-in counters of Russian airlines. Also, getting from the airport to the city will not be any problem and will not hit your wallet too hard. You can choose one of three types of public transport: metro, bus or taxi, depending on your time and money, I personally prefer the metro.

Metro

The metro station is located on the lower floor of the regional terminal (Terminal Regional) and trains of two branches depart from it: red at number 3 (Rafelbunyol - Aeroport) and green at number 5 (Marítim Serrería - Aeroport).

Both lines will take you to the city center in just 25 minutes! The ticket is bought in the red machine at the entrance, where you can choose English (select Idioma and then Inglés from the menu) and pay in cash or by card. Please note that the journey to the airport is considered as zone D and costs 3.90EUR one way + 1 EUR per card. If you have chosen the “single ticket” option, the machine will give you the option to buy a ticket to the airport, which you need to select. Here I must warn about a very important point: do not throw away the red card that the machine will issue! Firstly, in the Valencia metro, exit is also carried out with a card (that is, you need to swipe it both at the entrance and at the exit), and, secondly, this is a renewable travel card: when you buy new trips on the metro, you need to insert it into the device and select the Recargar function (if you suddenly do not find it in English) and then select the desired tariff. The interval between trains is 10-15 minutes. I must say that several times I got into very uncomfortable situations when the train left in front of me and I had to wait for the next 20 minutes, so I want to note that the Valencia metro runs on schedule, so you should plan your trip in advance and check the schedule on the Metrovalencia website . Otherwise, the Valencia metro is a fairly convenient and pleasant way to travel, all stations have plans, convenient scoreboards, and everywhere there are signs with the direction of the exit (salida) and the transition to another branch.

The price for the city (zone A) is 1.5 EUR, but if you buy 10 trips at once (called Bonometro), you can save a lot, since such a pass will cost you 7.20 EUR (plus 1 euro for a cardboard card, which you will pay at the first purchase) .

Bus

Also, a yellow bus number 150 runs from the airport to the city center. The stop is located at the exit from the arrivals area of ​​the T1 terminal on the ground floor under the bridge that combines the terminal with the parking lot. Travel time depends on traffic, but generally it is 30-40 minutes to the center of Valencia (plaza de España). This type of transport will cost only 1.45 EUR per person, but you need to pay attention to the bus schedule: from Monday to Saturday from 5.25 am to 10.05 pm every 25-30 minutes. The most comfortable way to travel is, without a doubt, a taxi. All taxis in Valencia are painted white, accept cards for payment and operate at the same rates. Finding a taxi at Valencia Airport is very simple - there are always several cars at once at the exit from the arrivals area of ​​​​the first terminal. The journey from Valencia Airport to the city center takes only 15 minutes, is carried out at a special fare and will cost 18-23 during the day on a weekday and 20-25 EUR at weekends or at night. If we talk about moving around the city, then from 7 am to 9 pm on weekdays, the starting price of boarding is 1.45 EUR and each subsequent kilometer is paid according to the meter and amounts to 1.08 EUR per km (but keep in mind that regardless of the distance, the minimum fare in a taxi on a weekday will be 4 EUR). And on weekends and holidays or at night, the fare will cost a little more - 2 EUR at the start and 1.18 for each kilometer (the minimum is already rising to 6 EUR). Taxis in Valencia can be ordered by phone, but personally I always use the MyTaxi app, although it is usually not a problem to hail a car right on the street or walk to one of the parking lots.

Flights to other cities in Spain

There are cases in which it is more profitable and convenient to get to Valencia by flying to another Spanish city, for example, if you fly directly from St. Petersburg or when all direct flights to Valencia are either sold out or sold at a high price. From my experience, I can say that the prices of air tickets to Madrid are almost always significantly higher than to Barcelona and Alicante, so I would recommend these two destinations. Like Valencia, the capital of Catalonia is located on the Mediterranean coast, and the distance separating the two cities is 350 km. In 2015, I spent 5 months in Barcelona on a student exchange program and this route is the most traveled for me in all of Spain.

Since many tourists choose nearby resorts as their place of rest, I would like to say a few words about how to get to Valencia from there. In the case of the Costa Brava (northern coast of Catalonia), the best way is to get to Barcelona itself first, which will not be difficult, since regular buses run from all resort towns to the city of Gaudí. And if we talk about the south of Catalonia (Costa Dorada), then, for example, from the station in you can take a direct train from Barcelona, ​​which will take you to Valencia in a little over two hours. In the case of other resorts, I would choose the option to get to another large city of Catalonia - Tarragona - and from there take a bus or train to Valencia.

Returning to Barcelona, ​​trains to Valencia leave from Barcelona Sants train station (metro lines 3 and 5) and travel times vary from three to just under four hours, depending on the train chosen and the number of stops. In the morning it will be possible to go to Valencia from 7 o'clock, and the last train leaves at 20.30. Two types of trains run directly on this route - Euromed y Talgo (the trains of this line operate longer routes, so Valencia will not be the final destination of his trip). But there are also several other lines that take a detour with a lot of stops, so their travel time increases to 5 hours. Provided that the difference in price is imperceptible, I would not recommend this option. As for the price, if you make a purchase in advance, then a one-way ticket will cost only 13-18 EUR, but if you can’t buy with a margin of time, then get ready to pay 27-45 EUR for one one-way ticket.

Personally, I almost always prefer the bus, as this is a more economical option and an extra hour on the road doesn’t scare me a bit. The ALSA bus company runs on the Barcelona-Valencia route, on the official website of which you can find prices and timetables. From Barcelona, ​​buses leave from Barcelona Nord station (Metro Arc de Triomf, line 1) or Barcelona Sants train station and arrive at the Valencia bus station, which I will discuss below. How to get from Alicante to Valencia

The city of Alicante is located 180 km from Valencia and is part of the Comunidad Valenciana (Valencian community). Personally, I have always been fascinated by the scenic route between these cities, which can be done on an ALSA bus in just two and a half hours. From Alicante, buses leave from the bus station near the port and arrive in Valencia at the station near the Turia metro. There are about 20 flights a day on this route from early morning until late at night, but in my experience it is always worth paying attention to travel time (it should not exceed 3 hours), especially when buying through the ticket office at the station, where you may not be informed about this, since there are several buses that call in all the nearby cities (Benidorm, Altea, ), due to which the time spent on the road will increase by one to two hours. Ticket prices are quite affordable - from 6 EUR (for certain flights) if you buy in advance, up to 25 if you buy on the day of departure.

You can also use an even faster way to travel - train. Travel time will take from a little over an hour and a half (minimum 1h32min - maximum 1h54min), and the ticket will cost between 12 and 20 EUR, depending on the date of purchase and the chosen flight. From Alicante, all trains leave from a single train station, and to Valencia they arrive either at the Joaquín Sorolla station (Euromed trains) or at Estación Nord (Talgo and MD trains).

How to get from Madrid to Valencia

The capital of the Spanish Kingdom is located 350 km from Valencia in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula. and Valencia are connected by the AVE high-speed rail line, whose trains cross a distance of 350 km in 1 hour 45 minutes. There are also a few conventional trains running on this route, but the travel time increases from four to almost seven hours, making them an unattractive way to travel. In the case of Madrid, I choose the train as my mode of travel only in case of a big rush, since the speed of the AVE will have to pay a round sum. I always give my choice to four-wheeled transport: AVANZA buses run from Madrid to Valencia, and the travel time will take 4 hours and 15 minutes with a 20-minute stop in the middle of the journey, during which you can stretch your legs, buy something from the supermarket, have a snack in a cafe and drink coffee . The price of tickets generally remains stable - about 30 euros for a one-way ticket, but sometimes, by purchasing in advance via the Internet, the Avanza company offers to buy tickets for the Viajando Voy promotion, which allows you to save 30-45% of the price. Most long-distance trains and all high-speed AVE trains arrive at the second station, while the first one mainly receives trains from the suburbs and a few long-distance lines (Talgo trains). In any case, both are located in the center at a short distance from each other and are connected by a free bus line that runs every 10-15 minutes and takes you from one station to another in 5 minutes.

There is also a metro station next to each of the stations - in the case of Estación del Norte, this is Xativa (lines 3 and 5), and next to Estación Joaquín Sorolla is Jesus-Joaquín Sorolla (lines 1 and 5).

As for the buses, almost all come to the only bus station, or, in rare cases, to the Joaquín Sorolla station. The Valencia bus station (that's what it's called - Estación de Autobuses de Valencia) is located near the Turia metro station (lines 1 and 2) opposite one of the main attractions of the city - Turia Park, laid out on the site of a once violent, and now a dried-up river.
