The village of Sokolinoye is located in the central part of the Crimea, the Bakhchisarai-Yalta highway passes through the village, in winter the route is often closed due to snow on the Ai-Petrinsky plateau.

Until 1945, the name of the Sokolinoye village was Kokkozy (Goluboglazka), it received its first name from local residents who lived in the 3rd century AD in this area. According to one version, these were the tribes of the Goths, who later left for Europe, but some of the people remained in the Crimea, their main difference was blue eyes, unlike most of the peoples who lived in the Crimea. That is why the river and the settlement got its name in honor of the inhabitants of Kokkozy (Goluboglazka).

The population of the Sokolinoye village according to the latest 2014 census. amounted to 1250 people. The main type of income in the village is tourism, eco-tourism, agriculture. There are several hotels in the village, a large offer of apartments in the private sector, a boarding house, developed infrastructure, shops, restaurants, cafes and more.

At any time of the year, there are many tourists in the village, in spring, summer and autumn there are many tourists with backpacks, who here begin their ascent to Ai-Petri or the Grand Canyon. In winter, this place turns into a base for a ski resort, rental of skis, boards and sledges, hot mulled wine, tea and coffee. The temperature difference in winter on Ai-Petri and Sokolino can reach 20-25 C. Very often in Sokolino the weather is +5 C +7 C, dry, and on Ai-Petri the snow is 80 and -10 C.


Due to its geographical position, Sokolinoye has been a visited and rather important place in all ages. Now in the winter, rescuers live here, in the summer, a halt before climbing. In past centuries, it was a strategically important point that connected and that is why there are many sights on the territory of the village.
