What is considered liquid in hand luggage. How much water can you take on a plane

Incorrectly assembled hand luggage can cause a lot of trouble. This will stretch the queue and extend your stay at the screening. If you want to smuggle something forbidden, then at best you just have to get rid of it. Such cases are not uncommon, because passengers often forget about the requirements for filling hand luggage. To ensure that everything goes smoothly, it is important to know in advance what you can and cannot take with you on the plane.

What is hand luggage

Hand luggage is the cargo that a passenger can take with him on board the aircraft. The main baggage, if any, must be checked in before the flight. For a safe flight and being in the cabin, there are many requirements for hand luggage. It should not be too large, heavy, or contain prohibited substances and items. You will learn more about this later.

Permissible dimensions and weight of hand luggage

Let's pay attention to the dimensions of hand luggage. The requirements vary from airline to airline, but in general they are the same. If you took a bag, then it should be no more than 55 cm long, 20 cm wide and 40 cm high. For a small suitcase, the requirements are slightly different: up to 40 cm long, 22 cm wide and 53 cm high.

Important! This norm may be slightly exceeded, since no one will measure your hand luggage in the inspection area. But still it is better not to take risks and strive not to go beyond the established values.

The exact weight of hand luggage also depends on the airline, but it is usually in the range of 5-10 kg. This is quite enough to put all the most valuable and necessary in flight. This weight is also enough if your trip is short and without a lot of things. Please note that if the weight is a little more, then they may not say anything in the inspection area, but if the excess is over 1-1.5 kg, then you will probably have to pay extra for it.

What can you carry in hand luggage on an airplane

From time to time, new rules and requirements for filling hand luggage may arise. Something completely new is unlikely to be introduced: usually small changes are made to existing rules. There are also temporary bans. For example, in 2014, during the Sochi Olympics, it was forbidden to carry any liquids with you. Fortunately, this restriction was quickly lifted.

So, let's take a closer look at what you can take in hand luggage:

  1. Medications that may come in handy during the flight. If you take several varieties of pills for reinsurance or for medical reasons, then there will be no problems in the inspection area. You should not take a whole first-aid kit with you, collected on the road: it belongs in the luggage. If you need to take any specific medicines, it is best to get a prescription in advance to prove that the medicine is really needed and will be used as directed. If you need to bring a lot of medicines abroad, then be sure to prepare prescriptions proving that you need exactly this amount for the duration of the trip: this will help to avoid inconvenience. A prescription is also required for drugs with psychotropic and narcotic substances in the composition. Also, find out in advance which drugs are prohibited from transporting to some countries. For example, in Israel, the usual green stuff is banned, in Lithuania and the USA - "Valocardin" and "Carvalol".
  2. A stroller, carrycot and crutches may be on board the aircraft, but please note that their weight must not exceed 10 kg. At the end of the article, it will be described in detail what else can be carried along with hand luggage.
  3. Technical devices. These include phones, laptops, tablets and other equipment. The main condition is to turn them off or switch them to airplane mode. It is allowed to carry in hand luggage along with the camera and a tripod if, when folded, its length does not exceed half a meter. Those who use electronic cigarettes, as well as portable chargers called power banks, must put them in their hand luggage. It is forbidden to carry them in your luggage! E-liquids are subject to the same requirements as any other liquids in hand luggage.
  4. Products. In the screening area, they look disapprovingly at the products that the passenger takes with him, so it is better to have a bite to eat with something bought in the waiting room. On domestic flights, these requirements are not so important, so you can take a sandwich, fruit, something sweet for tea with you. If the flight is carried out outside of Russia, then you should carefully consider the transportation of products of animal origin. These include meat in any form, cheeses and other dairy products. Check the rules for transporting products to the countries you plan to visit. When traveling to EU countries, it is better to refuse to import products of animal origin both in baggage and in hand luggage.
  5. Goods from Duty Free. It is difficult to resist and not buy something in such stores. Since they are located in the waiting area, which you find yourself in after passing through all the security checks, the question arises quite logically: can you take liquids bought there as hand luggage on the plane? Yes, you can. The key is to keep them sealed.

What liquid can be carried on board an aircraft

You can carry liquids up to 100 ml and a total volume of up to 1000 ml. It is important to note that liquids also include gel and creamy care products, mascaras, lip glosses, as well as products such as yogurts and jellies. The exception is baby food: its volume may exceed the prescribed 100 ml.

It is better to carry small containers with you: this will save space in your hand luggage. Avoid packages of 200 ml or more that are half full or less: there is a good chance that you will simply be asked to dispose of it at the security checkpoint.

What you can not carry in hand luggage on an airplane

Ordinary passengers are unlikely to have weapons, explosive and toxic substances in their hand luggage, but one can easily ignore one of the restrictions and lose some of their belongings. Items that should not be taken in hand luggage include the following:

  1. Weapon-like toys. Of course, toys do not pose a threat to other passengers, but it is still better to refuse to carry them in hand luggage.
  2. It is forbidden to take any objects with magnets on the plane. Therefore, if you return from a trip and bring souvenirs to family and friends, then leave them in your luggage, especially items with magnets.
  3. You can not transport women's manicure tools: files, scissors. The place for a manicure set is in your luggage, otherwise you will have to leave it in a basket in the security area.
  4. Even especially valuable souvenir knives and daggers cannot be taken on an airplane. Pack them carefully in your luggage to minimize damage in transit.
  5. Sprays and aerosols are also not allowed on board. If you need some kind of aerosol on the plane for health reasons, then an exception can be made, but only if you provide a prescription.

What can I take into the cabin except hand luggage

To understand what you can carry with your cabin baggage, check out this list of items allowed to be carried in the cabin:

  1. Taking into the cabin of the aircraft small vehicles for transportation: unicycles, gyro scooters and others - in the event that the battery is removed from them and placed in luggage. If the battery cannot be obtained, then such a vehicle is not allowed on board. Just in case, check the admissibility of their transportation in the airline of your choice.
  2. In addition to hand luggage, women can take a small or medium-sized handbag with them. You are also allowed to bring laptop bags.
  3. If you often get cold during the flight, then you can safely take a blanket with you. It is allowed to carry folding umbrellas, but it is better to leave cane umbrellas in your luggage.
  4. You can take various magazines and other printed publications, but not in huge quantities.

Now you know what you can and cannot take with you in your hand luggage. You will not need to leave any of your belongings in the inspection area, as well as experience inconvenience from increased attention to the contents of your hand luggage, because there will be nothing superfluous and forbidden to be taken on board!

It’s quite simple to figure out on your own what you can take in hand luggage and what you can’t, it’s quite simple: both general and private rules are on the website of each carrier airline. The prohibitions are also reminded by special “showcases” at airports, where items confiscated from hand luggage are presented, while some of these exhibits are allowed in checked baggage.

Prohibited items in carry-on baggage on an airplane

The basic list of objects and substances prohibited for transportation on an aircraft (attention - both in hand luggage and in checked baggage) is determined by Appendix No. 1 of the Rules for conducting pre-flight and post-flight inspections, approved by order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation dated July 25, 2007 No. 104.

What not to take in hand luggage

  • Explosives and objects, including pyrotechnics, detonators;
  • Compressed and liquefied gases (household, nerve and other);
  • A number of flammable liquids (these are gasoline and samples of petroleum products, acetone, methanol, ethers, etc.);
  • Flammable solids (calcium phosphorous or metallic, potassium, sodium, phosphorus - white, yellow, red, as well as other substances - spontaneously igniting or emitting combustible gases in reactions with water);
  • Oxidizing agents, organic peroxides (colloidal nitrocellulose in certain proportions);
  • Toxic substances;
  • radioactive materials;
  • Caustic acids (hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric, hydrofluoric and others), corrosive liquid compositions;
  • Toxic and toxic substances (in any form);
  • Weapons (pistols, revolvers, rifles, carbines and other firearms, gas, pneumatic weapons, stun guns, daggers, stilettos, airborne bayonet-knives, except in cases and in the manner established by the legislation of the Russian Federation);
  • Lithium batteries used in small personal mobility aids.

In addition to those listed above, all potentially dangerous types of cargo, including objects and substances that can be used to attack passengers or crew (primarily sharp metal products), fall under a complete ban on transportation on an airplane.

Some flights may be subject to an extended list of prohibited items. First of all, this applies to high-risk flights, the measure is being introduced by the airport administration. Appendix No. 1 lists the main prohibited items from the additional list, these are:

  • Hypodermic needles (may be allowed if there is a medical justification);
  • Knitting needles;
  • Scissors, travel and penknives with a blade length up to 60 mm;
  • Corkscrews.

Certain restrictions on hand luggage and baggage are also imposed by Article 16 of the Federal Law "On Plant Quarantine", according to which the import of seeds and specimens of living plants and soil into Russia is prohibited. At the same time, it is allowed to take some pets into the cabin in a cage / container, but this possibility must always be agreed in advance with the airline representative.

And one more thing: you should not carry dummies of weapons in your hand luggage on the plane (this also applies to toys), you need to carefully check the luggage for the presence of metal objects, even quite safe ones. For example, during control at the airport, a bunch of keys forgotten at the bottom of the backpack can cause trouble. Together with portable electronics and coins, the keys must be placed in a separate bowl or box during the inspection.

What can you take in hand luggage on a plane

Accordingly, with you on board the aircraft in hand luggage, you can carry everything that does not fall under strict prohibitions or restrictions on weight / volume and fits into the general carry-on baggage allowance.

If you plan to check in checked baggage, then it is quite possible to take only the most necessary and valuable things in your hand luggage:

  • Documentation;
  • Essential medicines (preferably with a prescription);
  • Gadgets - laptops, phones, as well as photographic equipment;
  • Jewelry (within reason - after checking with the customs regulations);
  • For a small child - baby food and care products.

It is convenient that some of the items from this list fall under the category of additional items with a passenger (more details below) and are not added to the total weight of hand luggage. In checked baggage, you must put in something that does not fit the carry-on baggage allowance: containers with liquids and gels with a volume of more than 100 ml; scissors, nail files and other potentially dangerous items in the cabin.

In cases where hand luggage is your only luggage on a trip, the list will have to be expanded: bring clothes, sanitary and hygiene products (liquid - always in containers up to 100 ml each), allowed products. Metal scissors, knives, forks will have to be left at home - it will not be possible to carry them in hand luggage according to the current rules.

What can I take on a plane in addition to hand luggage

In addition to the established hand luggage allowance, as a rule, you can take additional items of baggage with you on the plane:

  • Handbag for ladies or men's briefcase;
  • Folder for papers;
  • Gadgets and equipment for work / tourism: phone, tablet, laptop, camera and video camera;
  • Umbrella;
  • Cane;
  • Outerwear, a suit in a case;
  • Printed publications (for in-flight reading);
  • For a small child: baby food, cradle;
  • crutches;
  • Packed bag from Duty Free.

Please note: the list of things and items in excess of hand luggage is established by the air carrier. You can focus on the most general list given, but before the flight you still have to check the list on the airline's website. Do not forget about the specifics of low-cost airlines: low-cost airlines often have restrictions on carrying hand luggage.

If you are about to fly on an airplane and you still can’t remember what you can carry in your bag on board the plane and what you have to pack in your luggage, then you definitely need to familiarize yourself with the list of allowed and prohibited items. As a rule, all countries and almost all airlines have the same rules for carrying hand luggage. But, as they say, God saves the safe, find out in advance at the airport what things you can carry with you on the plane and what not, so that you don’t rummage in a hurry, packing the forbidden in your suitcase.

Usually, a place for hand luggage (bag, backpack, package) is allocated per passenger, and the size of hand luggage should not exceed 115 centimeters. Most often, the airline even specifically prescribes the norms: the height of the bag is not more than 45, the length is not more than 56, and the width is 25 centimeters. Tickets usually indicate the maximum weight of luggage and hand luggage, it most often ranges from 3 to 15 kilograms.

What can be taken in hand luggage:

  1. Liquids. True, everything is tricky here too, liquids should be in containers of 100 ml, in total it is allowed to take 1 liter per person. That is, if you have any liquid facial tonics, drinks, perfumes and other liquid things in bottles, they will not be allowed on board with a volume of more than 100 ml. Put such containers in a transparent cosmetic bag or bag so that the airport employee can see everything. It is allowed to carry drinks purchased in the Duty Free zone, just keep the receipt for the purchase.
  2. Technical devices. Airplanes like to warn passengers to turn off all devices, as they interfere with the control and navigation of the aircraft. But you can still carry them, in particular, a phone, player, laptop, tablet, camera and other small devices.
  3. Life-saving medications and medications that you can’t do without at all. Store them in their original packaging.
  4. Food and baby food. In general, in an airplane, even with a two-hour flight, passengers are fed, to say nothing of long-haul flights. From a snack you can take sandwiches, cookies, nuts, chocolate, fruits.
  5. Books, newspapers, magazines will come in handy to pass the time in flight.
  6. If you have a child with you, then it is allowed for him to take a stroller or a carrycot.
  7. Disabled people or people with fractures can take on board a wheelchair, crutches and other auxiliary things.
  8. You can take outerwear, such as jackets, blankets. it may be very cold in the place where you are going, and then warm clothes will come in handy.

What can not be taken in hand luggage:

  1. Sharp piercing and cutting objects. Needlework and knitting cannot take your time, as knitting needles, needles, and scissors are not allowed to be brought on board.
  2. Gas cartridges, poisonous chemicals and substances.
  3. Pets are not allowed, but there are exceptions.
  4. Canned food in jars

Be prepared for the fact that your hand luggage will be reviewed, and they may find fault with something. It's best to put disputed items in your luggage if you're not sure if you'll be allowed to carry them or not, based on carry-on baggage rules.

In general, the topic is quite interesting, and, probably, some oddities have happened to many of you related to the carriage of hand luggage. One girl, for example, was forced to put out a sandwich with cheese on departure from Europe, allegedly because cheese cannot be exported.

In Amsterdam, you may be asked to lay out already opened chocolate and other sweets, since all such sweet treats must be sealed.

In India, they can take away matches and lighters, if, of course, they find you in your hand luggage.

Write in the comments your interesting cases when you were forced to post something in different countries, or vice versa, they let you through with prohibited items. Based on the results of your responses, we will compile a more detailed list of what may be taken away or allowed to be carried in hand luggage in different countries and cities.

Fees and preparations for the flight involve packing the things of the tourist. At the same time, it is important to decide what items will have to be carried in the luggage department, and what can be carried on board. Here the traveler takes into account the maximum allowable weight for each piece of luggage and excludes objects prohibited for transportation from the planned list. For beginners who are not familiar with these rules, we will clarify what is forbidden to take on the liner.

In luggage, airline employees define suitcases that weigh up to 23 kg. Moreover, the total size of the sides of such bags does not exceed 2,030 mm. For excess, you will have to make an additional payment according to the current airline tariffs. However, most low-cost airlines and some fare packages of major carriers exclude free luggage space. Therefore, we will consider in more detail the question of what can be carried in hand luggage on an airplane.

This category of luggage is regulated by a separate section of the carrier's regulations. Here, the maximum dimensions of the bag are 55X40X20 with an aspect ratio of length: width: height. The total measurement indicator is limited by the figure of 1 meter 15 centimeters. In addition, airlines impose restrictions on the weight of such luggage. Major domestic carriers like " Aeroflot" And " S7»allow packages with a weight of 10 kg on board, and foreign airlines - up to 15. The average maximum weight for other airlines ranges from 6-8 kilograms.

The appearance of the packaging of things does not play a role for the air carrier. However, it is advisable for passengers to take into account that airport employees will add mobile suitcase rollers to the overall dimensions. Experienced tourists recommend taking backpacks on board - due to the side straps, such a bag can be slightly reduced in size. In addition, this item is practical and easy to transport.

Considering that for economy class passengers, airlines allocate the only place for things in the cabin of the liner, it is appropriate for the traveler to responsibly pack a suitcase. After all, a pre-flight check involves a strict inspection of the contents of the bag. If prohibited items are identified, the passenger will have to check in the item in luggage or refuse to travel - after all, in such situations, the carrier has the right to refuse to fly. Therefore, we will clarify that you cannot take it in hand luggage on an airplane. New airline rules today expanded the list of such items.

Illegal Items

The answer to the question of what cannot be carried in hand luggage will be an extensive list of items. When packing, keep in mind that you will have to abandon the idea of carrying poisonous, radioactive or chemical compounds and substances that can easily ignite on an airplane. The carriage of explosive solid and liquid objects and oxidizing substances is strictly prohibited. In addition, sharp objects, cold and firearms or their imitations will not be allowed into the salon. This list includes even toys that repeat the appearance of a knife or machine gun.

These categories of items will not be allowed on board the aircraft and in the luggage compartment by airline employees. An exception in such situations are piercing-cutting objects and weapons. It is permissible to carry such things in luggage upon presentation to the airline employees of the necessary permits and permits. Moreover, it will be necessary to inform about such objects long before the departure of the board.

Let us clarify in more detail what you cannot take on a plane with you in hand luggage, because the general definition is uninformative and often misleads beginners. Therefore, we will consider the nuances of the issues of transportation of piercing and cutting objects. Trivial household trifles fall into this category - a corkscrew, manicure accessories, medical equipment. For transportation in the cabin, security staff will not allow knitting needles, hooks and straight razors.

Although there are some exceptions here. Polymer nail files with rounded edges or a razor with a set of replaceable hidden blades will not fall under the described restrictions. Nevertheless, it is advisable to remember that all flights, especially flights that are subject to a high level of danger, airport employees check very carefully. Therefore, do not be too lazy to clarify in advance on the website or at the airline office what you cannot take with you on board the aircraft. Such actions will save time and finances - after all, if an illegal object is detected, the passenger is forced to transfer it to luggage or leave it at the airport. Failure to comply with the requirements of a security officer is fraught with the exclusion of the client from the flight.

Innovations in transportation regulations

Recently, the rules for the transport of items on liners have been updated with several categories of illegal items in flight. We have already listed these groups in general terms, now let's look at what things are at risk of being on the banned list. Let's start with volatile combustibles. The list includes C2H5 compounds, gasoline, paint and varnish products, and printer cartridges. The security service includes solvents, some alcohol-containing personal hygiene products, infusions and essential oils in this category.

The group of explosive objects includes all aggregate states of substances. Saltpeter, compounds of nitroglycol and nitroglycerin, hexogen will not be allowed on the plane. Among the isotopic substances is some medical equipment for diagnostics. Give up the idea of transporting such things if radioactive chemical elements are indicated in the composition.

In addition, mixtures that support the combustion of other substances are now illegal. This list includes hydroperoxide (hydrogen peroxide), fertilizers containing ammonium nitrate and nitrite, bleaching and detergents, and stain removers.

Poisonous compounds also fell into the group of things prohibited for transportation by air. Here are all the drugs that provoke poisoning of the body, penetrating through the skin and organs of the respiratory apparatus. The list includes chlorine, formaldehyde, household chemicals, air fresheners, mercury. In addition, it is advisable for the passenger to think about refusing to transport bacteriological hazardous substances.

Step towards customers

Given the wide list of prohibited items, many of which involve trivial household objects, carriers have made exceptions to the lists of illegal substances. Today, the airline's client will be able to take food vinegar on the road, provided that it is packaged in accordance with the rules for transporting liquids. But the volume of this substance is halved and is 500 ml. In addition, it is permissible to carry alcohol with an alcohol content of not more than 70%. Here, the transport regulations correspond to the requirements for the packaging of liquid substances.

Customers will bring nail polish, face cleaning spray up to half a liter, and lighters. In addition, airlines allow you to take on board one mercury thermometer or another thermometer of the passenger's choice. However, such nuances will have to be clarified with a particular carrier. After all, airlines practice different security policies and the lists of such positions here differ even among domestic airlines.

Restrictions for transporting things

In addition to the list of prohibited items, airlines practice setting restrictions on the transportation of luggage. This group includes liquids and medicines. We will figure out whether it is possible to take water and medicines necessary on the flight. As for medicines, here passengers carry only permitted items. If the medicine is classified as illegal on board, the airline's client provides Security Service employees with a document certified by the doctor's seal about the vital need to carry a specific drug with them.

A separate code of practice has been developed for the transport of liquids and pasty products. Passengers take water or juice on the liner within strictly limited limits. The requirements govern the transportation of one person up to a liter of liquid. Moreover, this volume will have to be packaged in several containers, the capacity of which is 100 ml. Similar rules apply to the transport of jelly-like substances.

Airline customers legally transport drinking water, Duty Free alcohol, soft drinks, medical and decorative cosmetics, which are not included in the list of items prohibited for transportation. Moreover, the employees of the carrier company monitor the passenger's compliance with the rules of transportation. The nominal capacity of the container is important here, not exceeding the allowable values.

Baby food is considered a separate category here - after all, such airline products are classified as liquids. The packaging standards are preserved here, however, the total volume increases if the child needs more food during the flight. However, these rules only apply when traveling with an infant. The absence of a child on board or traveling with an infant over two years of age cancels the privileges described..

For flights with infants under two years old, the carrier removes restrictions on the transport of baby food

When asked why it is impossible to carry liquid on the plane, the carriers say that there are cases when, under the guise of drinks, passengers carried explosives onto the liner. Therefore, for safety reasons, airlines minimize the likelihood of an accidental or deliberate explosion on board during flight. Similar demands appeared after a series of terrorist attacks in the air.

The procedure for passing the test

Check-in for a flight involves the passage of a passenger customs inspection and security control. The contents of the bags are subject to scrutiny at the airport. When prohibited objects are identified, an airport employee draws up an act of discovery and confiscates an illegal object from the client. If the item is available for free sale, the product is left at the airport until the passenger returns.

Restrictions on the transport of liquids and a ban on certain categories of substances help to increase the safety of passengers during the flight

If an illegally transported weapon or component parts is detected in the luggage, the security officer documents the find and contacts law enforcement officers. Such situations are fraught for the client with removal from the route and threaten with liability before the law. Therefore, follow the rules and do not try to outsmart the experienced employees of the airport terminal.

As you can see, adhering to the rules of the airlines, the traveler will not experience problems when checking in luggage. To minimize the likelihood of unpleasant situations, it is appropriate to familiarize yourself with the requirements of the carrier in advance and clarify the points you are interested in.

What can be taken in hand luggage. Prohibited items for transportation in hand luggage. Permitted baggage sizes

Hand luggage: general information

Many travelers wondered: “What can I take in hand luggage?”. Let's tell you more.

hand luggage- cargo that a passenger takes with him on board a passenger vehicle without putting it in the luggage compartment.

During takeoff and landing, hand luggage must be placed:

  • on the hand luggage shelf above the passenger seat
  • under the passenger seat in front

Special carry-on baggage rules apply to the emergency exit seats, where carry-on baggage is not allowed under the seat.

What you can take in hand luggage: food

Many novice tourists have the opinion that no types of food are allowed through the inspection. Tourists with children are especially worried because they fear that the child will not have anything to feed. In order to save on overpriced food at airports, we recommend that you always take food with you.

For early flights, we always take with us at least a light snack in the form of sandwiches (especially important for low-cost airlines, where meals on board are included in the ticket price) and food for the child. The only caveat is that in some countries there is a restriction on some products without packaging that you can take with you (especially with increased quarantine control). Therefore, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the specialized forums about allowed food in advance. But in general, in most cases it is allowed to take the following products with you:

  • Chips, cookies, waffles, etc. (packaged)
  • Fruits and vegetables (especially relevant for children)
  • Cake and pastry (packed)
  • Sandwiches (not necessarily in the package)
  • Cutlets, sausages and other meat products (packed)

Food is also allowed up to 100 ml:

  • yogurt
  • honey, jam
  • canned food (any: meat, fish, homemade seamings, etc.)
  • foods with a lot of sauce or gravy

Important! If you are carrying a gift, for example, a jar of honey, more than 100 ml, you will be asked to part with it during the inspection. You will not be able to persuade the inspector in 100% of cases.

What you can take in hand luggage: drinks

It is allowed to take any drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in hand luggage in glass, plastic cans or cardboard packaging with a volume of up to 100 ml. All drinks that exceed this volume will need to be thrown away (there are always urns nearby for throwing things that are not allowed for transportation).

The exception is water and juice bottles for children. Usually bottles up to 500 ml are passed without problems. Also, when traveling with children, it is allowed to take a portable cradle on board the aircraft or a stroller (the stroller is left near the ladder / front door of the aircraft; upon arrival, porters take it out of the luggage compartment under the ladder).

It is also allowed to carry drinks from duty free in a special blister pack. If the package is opened, they may not miss.

Be careful! If you bought goods in duty free at another airport, when going through security at the new airport, you will be asked to check in the previously purchased goods as baggage, since it was purchased at another airport, despite the fact that it is from duty free (in this case the rule is more than 100 ml.).

What you can take in hand luggage: electronics

It is allowed to take in hand luggage from electronics all devices that will help you pass the time during the flight:

  • MP3 and DVD players (if anyone else uses them 🙂)
  • laptop, tablet, e-book, etc.
  • camera and video camera
  • mobile phone
  • hair straightener, curling iron, etc.
  • electric razor

Life hack what you can take in hand luggage: If you bought electronics abroad and take it with you in your hand luggage, we recommend that you take it out and get rid of the box so that inspectors do not have unnecessary questions about its value and the need to declare goods during the inspection. If you are bringing it as a gift and you need to keep the box, then we recommend that you also take the sales receipt with you so that you can present it to the inspector if necessary.

When passing through the inspection, large items such as a laptop and tablets must be removed from hand luggage and placed on the scanner separately.

What you can take in hand luggage: cosmetics

It is allowed to take standard hygiene products on board the aircraft:

  • toothbrush (including electric)
  • a safety razor and replacement blades for it (meaning Gillette razors, not the good old grandfather blades)
  • solid deodorant (but not aerosol cans)

It is also allowed to take liquids up to 100 ml:

  • contact lens liquid
  • toothpaste
  • cream, lotion, gel, oil, etc.
  • Polish for hair
  • thermal water
  • deodorant (spray, roll-on)
  • shampoo, hair mask, hair balm, etc.

We recommend purchasing a transparent cosmetic bag and bottles with a 100 ml dispenser separately for hand luggage liquids. for liquids into which more than 100 ml of cosmetics can be poured. Everything else is over 100 ml. must be packed in luggage in advance, otherwise you will have to part with it.

Important! All liquids must be in 100 ml. bottles and tubes, and placed in a separate transparent cosmetic bag. During the inspection, we recommend taking the cosmetic bag out of the backpack and placing it on the scanner conveyor separately from things. In this case, customs officers will have fewer questions about your belongings, and there will be no need to conduct a separate detailed inspection of your belongings (especially when you are late for a flight).

In most countries of the world, there is a rule for summing up the volumes of containers. Its essence lies in the fact that the volume of all transported vials, cans and tubes is summed up. And if their total volume exceeds 1000 ml, then, most likely, some kind of container will have to be thrown away, since passenger baggage has already been checked in by the time the control passes.

What you can take in hand luggage: medicines

For personal use:

In hand luggage, you can carry medicines that you cannot do without for medical reasons (antipyretics, adsorbents, analgesics, sprays and drops from the common cold, anti-allergy, motion sickness remedies, bandages, plaster, iodine and brilliant green in a pencil).

For oncology drugs, sleeping pills and painkillers, insulin in syringes and medicines containing narcotic or similar substances, you must have a medical certificate or a prescription from a doctor with you. These documents confirm that you need to constantly take the appropriate medications in a certain dosage. To avoid possible problems, it is also advisable to have a translation of the certificate or prescription into English with you. In addition, it is recommended to consult with the air carrier in advance about the rules for transporting specific medications.

The volume of liquid medicines carried in the cabin must not exceed 100 ml. If they exceed, it is better to put them in a suitcase (nevertheless, you will not need them all at once). The packaging of the medicinal product must have a factory or pharmacy label indicating the name of the medicine and all the necessary information about it, in particular, the composition and expiration date.

If a passenger has an injury, crutches or other necessary orthopedic devices can be taken as an addition to hand luggage.

Not for personal use

Medical supplies not intended for personal use may be carried in small quantities, as long as they are not narcotic. When transporting them, it is advisable to take pharmacy checks with you, which prove the legal origin of medicines.

Medicines are mandatory checked by the aviation security service using special technical inspection equipment, in particular, radiation monitoring devices and sensors that detect the presence of explosives and drugs. Control officers may ask the passenger to open the container in order to visually check its contents.
