Behind St. Isaac's Cathedral finally completed Four Seasons- a luxury hotel in the mansion of Prince Lobanov-Rostovsky, erected at the beginning of the 19th century according to the Montferrand project. The building is also known as the "House with Lions", and its reconstruction all this time was closely watched by both the public and the descendants of the princely family. Behind the austere facade with monumental columns and famous sculptures of lions made of white Carrara marble, rich interiors are now hidden and four establishments with cuisine from the Italian Andrea Accordi at once (the Onice restaurant of the Villa La Vedetta hotel in Florence and the Allegro restaurant in Hotel Four Seasons in Prague). The first two are already open to visitors here, while Asian Sintoho and Italian Percorso are preparing to launch.

Andrea Accordi is in charge of the overall management of all hotel projects, but each restaurant will have its own chef. There is only one at the Tea Room and the Xander bar - they are managed by Ruslan Shipunov, who previously worked at miX in Saint-Petersburg.


If you pass a couple of porters at the entrance, and then go straight along the hall shining with gilding and mirrors, you find yourself in the “Tea Room”. To the right is the fashionable Xander. The latter is named after Alexander I, who ruled the country during the construction of the mansion. The design was done by Sheryl Rowley, which made the interiors of reputable hotels around the world. The walls are paneled with olive root, the floor is walnut, and the shelves are lined with antique books. The furniture, however, is modern, made to order. In the Xander bar, in armchairs by the fireplace, people in good jackets smoke cigars, well-trained waiters stretch out nearby, and the menu includes Krug Vintage 1996 champagne for 42,000 rubles and beluga caviar (12,000 rubles for 28.4 grams, 42,000 for 113 gram). In addition to impressive numbers, almost 40 varieties of vodka and 12 types of champagne, cocktails (Xander Sidecar based on Hennessy VSOP - 1020 rubles), and light snacks like scallop ceviche (720 rubles) and oysters (3 pieces Fin de Claire - 750 rubles) . The latter will be on the menu all year round; origin depends on the season, delivery - on Mondays and Thursdays.

Despite the difference in specializations, the approach to cuisine is similar everywhere. They rely on the quality of products, trying to use local products whenever possible. According to Andrea, there is not enough variety here, but some items are very good: vegetables, chicken meat, rabbit meat, quail, crayfish and pike perch. Sturgeon and beluga caviar are brought from Astrakhan, salmon - from Sakhalin.

The “Tea Lounge” looks more like a Mediterranean patio than actually a living room: there is a lot of greenery, white and cream finishes, and a heated glass roof instead of a ceiling so that the sky can be seen even in winter, regardless of rainfall.

For the "Tea Room" Andrea Accordi has compiled a concise menu, where well-known names are complemented by unexpected details. The focus on haute cuisine and sophistication is expressed not so much in the way the dish is prepared, but in the search for new flavor combinations. For example, carpaccio is made from smoked venison with marinated foie gras in spices and beetroot sauce (670 rubles), caramelized chicory and potato salad are served with Kiev cutlet (720 rubles), and “Caesar” is made with lobster, olive croutons and crispy chorizo ​​chips (1200 rubles).

While Xander and the Tea Lounge can only be accessed through the hotel lobby, the other two projects will have a separate entrance from St. Isaac's Square and are positioned as "independent". They are designed by the Japanese company Design Studio SPIN, and the concepts, menus and launch dates are still at the stage of approval.

The reputation of the chef and his two Michelin stars (taking into account that he received one of them first in the whole Eastern Europe) are very eloquent arguments in favor of the Four Seasons. At the same time, the prices here, although high, are not sky-high - restaurants in the "House with Lions" are available to a fairly wide audience. Probably, not everyone will feel comfortable in such a grandiloquent interior, but the format itself does not make itself feel bad - the space of the hotel is deliberately positioned as luxurious and aristocratic, and it is unlikely that anyone would even think of coming here in sneakers. At least beauty is the first thing that guests describe in their impressions after a trial visit. As for the surroundings, Four Seasons, although located in the midst of the most elite hotels in St. Petersburg, does not repeat them in style at all - unlike the W-hotel, the interiors here are extremely classic, and unlike the Astoria - noticeably more pompous.

It is curious that they conceived something unusual in the design of the other two restaurants, and the cuisine is no less interesting. In the meantime, I would like to think that Four Seasons will perform at its recognized world level and become another step in the development of the fine dining genre for St. Petersburg.

Guests can warm up in winter by tasting winter “cocktails of the day”: Bloody Mary, Moscow mule, The Godfather and Americano. In the spring, the drinks menu will feature Aperol Spritz, Horse's Neck, Gin tonic and Currant caipirinha cocktails.

The cozy atmosphere of Sunday brunches will be complemented by the sounds of live accordion, violin and saxophone.

For younger guests, the hotel organizes a kids club with a spacious play space, educational workshops and entertaining games. The club will also have a special children's menu. The cost of brunches for children from 6 to 12 years old is 2500 rubles. For children under 5 years old, admission is free.

The chain's first five-star hotel in Russia has three restaurants and one bar. The Tea Lounge and Xander Bar are already open, while Italian Percorso and Asian Sintoho will open in the fall. The Japanese design bureau Spin Design, an Italian chef who has already earned Michelin stars for two restaurants, and a manager from the Armani empire took part in their creation.

The Italian restaurant, which will open its doors in September, is divided into a suite of halls- with interiors of stunning luxury. It is difficult to find Italy in it, rather London's The Wolseley, where relatives of the crown from the House of Windsor go to dinner in Piccadilly. The designer generously sprinkled marble, velvet and stucco with glass of multi-tiered chandeliers and faceted glasses. At the same time, they invite you to go to the restaurant for a plate of pasta and a glass of wine almost every day. You can believe it - just look at the menu or get to know the team, so lively and charming that they could illustrate an article about Italian temperament in an encyclopedia.
Manager Tony Paese, who left the Armani empire to move to St. Petersburg, promises to create a relaxed atmosphere - as far as possible in such interiors. The music is recorded by Perscriptive Music, the waiters are training to explain complex dishes, the team of chefs led by Valerio Andrisani is already inspiringly communicating with the first guests. Small - three pages - menu will perfectly tell about the events at the forefront of gastronomic achievements and the most textured products that cooks are brought daily from Italy. All items in the crudi section are a finely crafted mosaic of flavors framing the main product: Mediterranean red shrimp with cruci pepper emulsion and polenta chips. The pasta section sparkles with surprises like pancetta-stuffed fagotini or pasta with Mediterranean seaweed, but does not frighten with complexity.
