M4 highway to where. Federal highway M4 "Don

Have you decided to go on vacation to the south in your own car? If you don't want to spoil your vacation before it even starts, I advise you to read this article. Today I will talk about the two most common divorce schemes on the highway, which you may encounter on the road. Tired of constantly watching how innocent motorists are spudded. I hope this article will at least save someone from such troubles on the road.

Today, the frank lawlessness of traffic cops, which they did in the 2000s, has gone down in history. Today you will no longer encounter the arbitrariness that was happening at the “famous” post, but the divorce of drivers for bribes is still quite effectively applied. Now the extortion of money is much more civilized and less intrusive than before, since the mechanisms for combating corruption, at the very least, have begun to work and traffic cops are periodically sent to places of deprivation of liberty.

All schemes are quite primitive and are designed for your fatigue, inattention, haste and desire to quickly get to your destination.

Divorce on M4 Don for marking or oncoming traffic

There are different versions of this method of divorce, but the essence is the same. I will describe the situation on my own example.

Passing the Rostov traffic police post at the address. Open, 1. When moving in a southerly direction, the post is located in front of the bridge over the Don River.

Stops the inspector. I present the documents to the employee and he immediately, muttering something under his breath, leaves and takes a position at the trunk, behind the car.

At this point, I made a serious mistake and got out of the car before the employee announced his intentions or claims to me. I thought that he wanted to inspect the trunk and followed him so as not to waste time.

Further, the traffic police officer tells me that I violated the rules of traffic rules, and specifically ran over the markings indicating the place of the turn of oncoming traffic, that is, I sort of crossed the oncoming lane. I am naturally outraged.

Always remain seated in the vehicle until the inspector has made it clear to you what he wants you to do. If you have a recorder, rotate it so that it records your conversation with a traffic police officer. In 99% of cases, there will be no further dialogue with you, they will give you the rights and you will go further, saving your time and nerves.

Next, the acting begins. The traffic cop defiantly communicates with someone on the radio and there he is confirmed that it was my car that violated the rules and this was recorded on some kind of camera. He tells me that I am subject to deprivation of rights from 4 to 6 months. Once again, I confidently declare to him that I did not violate anything. Then we go to the traffic police post, to a separate “VIP” room, not equipped with anything at all. There was only a table and two chairs, there was not even an elementary laptop to present at least something in fact. Then the inspector sits down at the table and offers to sit opposite me. I refuse and take a position almost point-blank to him. Here the traffic cop is already making a mistake, since psychologically he is in a less advantageous position for pressing against me - I am on top, he is on the bottom)) After which I go on the attack and start bombarding him with questions: where the violation was committed, what time, who transmitted the information why they didn’t stop immediately on the spot, and so on (of course, the employee could not answer most of the questions). And at the end of my fiery speech, I demand to show photo and video evidence of the violation and propose to start drawing up a protocol.

The police officer refuses to draw up a protocol, says that he personally does not have any materials on the case and they will be sent to the court at the place of residence. Gives me back my rights. In simple terms, this means that the employee jumped back, realizing that he could not receive a bribe.

Nobody will send any materials to any court, because they simply do not exist. Even if you theoretically imagine that they are, then at most you will receive a letter with a fine, and not a court! If you were not stopped exactly at the moment of the violation, then there can be no deprivation of rights, since it will be impossible to prove who exactly was driving the car at the time of the violation.

Scam for speeding

This scheme is similar to the situation described above. Only in this case there is a divorce for speed and you will be shown a fixation of your alleged violation.

The meaning is this. A traffic cop stops you and says that you exceeded the speed limit by more than 60 kilometers, which entails the deprivation of rights. Then on a laptop (and sometimes even on a phone :)) you will be shown a real photo of your car with a fixed speed. But the point is that it is impossible to understand from the photo where it was taken or what the permissible speed was. In another option, the place will be known and a specific kilometer indicated, but the permissible speed there was, for example, not 90 km / h, but 30. You will be assured that there was some kind of sign and you did not notice it. Most likely, there was no sign, and the camera is “not officially”.

In this situation:

  • Demand to provide a device for reconciliation, on which the violation was recorded.
  • The photo should indicate the permissible speed and the one with which your car was moving. During a divorce, most likely, only the speed of the car will be indicated.
  • If the camera is in one place, but they stopped you in another, then this is not deprivation, but only a fine.

Let's analyze the situation and summarize

All machinations with falsification of traffic violations are quite primitive and are designed to quickly confuse the driver. Since traffic cops are afraid of being caught at the moment of “processing a client”, they quickly retreat at the slightest resistance. Time is also an important factor, and time is money)). If you resist, then it is easier for them to let you go and catch another, more accommodating car owner.

  1. Be confident. Don't show your fatigue. Take your time. Try not to be nervous.
  2. During a stop by traffic police officers, never get out of the car unless absolutely necessary. The law does not require you to do this. If an employee begins to leave with your documents for no reason without explanation, remind him that he has no right to do this without your permission.
  3. Do not obey implicitly all the requests of the inspector, since most of them are requests and not requirements. You are not required to comply with requests and this is not disobedience to a traffic police officer. For example, in 99% of cases, an employee does not have a legal right to demand you get out of the car, he can only ask to do so.
  4. Do not play by the rules that the employee offers you, but try to impose your own (within the law), as this knocks the employee out of the worked-out divorce scheme. He asks you to get out of the car - do not get out, asks you to sit down - stop, asks you a question - ignore and ask your own, etc.
  5. Avoid questions that are not relevant to the situation: where are you going, where are you working, etc. If the inspector realizes that you have money, he will cling to you like a tick))
  6. If you are accused of some kind of violation, then behave confidently. Ask leading questions quickly and clearly. If you feel that the inspector "floated" in some topic. Ask the same question even more persistently and confidently. Require proof. Ask for a protocol.
  7. If your violation was recorded by a camera, and the traffic cop stopped later, then let him know that you are aware that this is, at least, not a deprivation of rights. Then you will become uninteresting to him.
  8. Record your conversation on mobile phone or communicate in the presence of witnesses. For example, if you are traveling with your wife, they stop you and drag you to the post, go together, the law does not prohibit this.

And last but not least!

Under no circumstances think about a bribe!

First, thinking about a possible ransom, if something suddenly goes wrong, you already subconsciously plead guilty. The traffic cop will feel it and “devour” you)

And secondly, do not give bribes, as supply creates demand. If you do not give, then there will be no one to breed. And if you really violated, then be prepared to answer according to the law if you want to live in a normal and civilized country.

Another famous place, where you can be bred for deprivation of rights for crossing a continuous line - on the M4.

Friends, do not remain indifferent to the arbitrariness of traffic police on the roads! Write complaints on the traffic police website and help spread this article on social networks.

Good luck on the road and have a good rest!

Federal highway M4 Don is a federal highway.

Moscow - Vidnoye - Efremov - Voronezh - Rostov-on-Don - Krasnodar - Novorossiysk. The main part of the route from Moscow to Krasnodar is an integral part of the European route E 115.
The section from Krasnodar to Dzhubga forms route E 592. From Dzhubga to Novorossiysk is part of E 97. On the M4 road, a section of the European route E 50 passes from the intersection with the M19 at Novoshakhtinsk to the M29 branch at the village of Pavlovskaya.

In the Moscow region, the road has a motorway mode, in other sections it has a regular road mode.

The length of the road is ~ 1544 km.
Number of lanes: from 2 to 6.

Passes through the territory of the Moscow, Tula, Lipetsk, Voronezh and Rostov regions, the Krasnodar Territory and the territory of the Republic of Adygea.

There are bypass roads around the cities of Voronezh and Rostov-on-Don along the route.

The road has access to: Yelets (12 km), Lipetsk (65 km), Novocherkassk (5 km)

A toll section in the Lipetsk region has road signs limiting the speed to 110 km/h, although this section is not a motorway.

A number of sections of the road are dangerous for traffic and require special attention driver:
- with steep descents and ascents (60 km, 98 km, 109 km, 116 km, 298 km, 347 km, 356 km, 386 km);
- with sharp turns and areas with limited visibility (26 km, 49 km, 95 km, 364 km).

The road crosses significant rivers: the Oka (near the town of Kashira), the Beautiful Mecha (near the town of Efremov), the Pine (near the town of Yelets), the Don (near the town of Zadonsk), the Voronezh reservoir, the Seversky Donets (near the town of Seversky). Kamensk-Shakhtinsky).
Bridges with a length of more than 50 m have a carrying capacity of 60-80 tons.

Route

The M4 road begins at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road and Lipetskaya Street (direction to Lipetsk), then passes through the territory of the Moscow Region in a southerly direction in the form of a modern highway with interchanges and dividing lanes, goes west of the city Prominent, east of the city of Domodedovo (between the city and the airport), runs west of the cities of Kashira and Stupina, approximately in the same place the M6 highway branches off from it, going to the southeast.

Then the road follows the territory Voronezh region, to Voronezh, bypasses Voronezh along the bypass road passing along the northeastern outskirts, passes by the cities of Pavlovsk and Boguchar, through the villages of Losevo and Upper Mamon.

Further, the road goes through the territory Rostov region, crossing the highway E 40 Volgograd - Chisinau in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, leaving the cities of Millerovo (to the west), Krasny Sulin (to the west), Shakhty (to the east), approaches the city of Rostov-on-Don. Further, after the bypass road around Rostov-on-Don and the bridge over the Don River, it follows south through Bataysk and Samarskoye.

By territory Krasnodar Territory the road passes the villages of Kushchevskaya, Pavlovskaya (the beginning of the M29 "Kavkaz" highway), the city of Korenovsk and reaches Krasnodar. Here the direct road to Novorossiysk A146 E 115 departs, and the M4 continues south to the resort village of Dzhubga. From here, the M27 road leaves to the east, and the M4 follows along the Black Sea coast to the west, passes Gelendzhik and ends in the city of Novorossiysk. At the same time, for movement towards Novorossiysk, Anapa and Gelendzhik, there is a shorter and more convenient road through Timashevsk and Slavyansk-on-Kuban.

The most dangerous section for traffic is the section from the entrance stele to the Rostov region from the Voronezh region to the entrance to the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky (~ 140 km). Here, the road with heavy traffic has 1 lane in each direction with large elevation changes. Massive road works are underway and this is the cause of frequent accidents.

Traffic jams on the M4 Don are now displayed on the online map and show the situation on the road today in real time. This function becomes especially useful with the beginning of summer holidays, when tens of thousands of tourists from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine rush by car towards the south and the Black Sea.

The Don highway will be in a state of local-permanent road construction work for several more years, incl. I strongly recommend that you monitor the situation on the road, otherwise it is likely to spend from 5 to 20 hours for the entire trip on useless traffic jams, especially in the Rostov Region and the Krasnodar Territory.

The data collected in the article is relevant for 2020, and as new information becomes available, the article will be supplemented and corrected.

Traffic jams on the M4 Don highway now on the online map

The online map of traffic jams on the Don highway allows you to assess the scale of the traffic jam, see the current speed of traffic in a particular place and understand exactly where you should turn off the road in order to bypass a large congestion of cars and not stand idle under scorching sun, with little to no movement, several grueling hours.

The maps are interactive and allow you to move around the entire area, as well as zoom in and out using the mouse scroll or the "+" and "-" buttons on the left side.

Yandex traffic jams

Map with Yandex traffic jams online mode shows the operational situation on the roads today and within the next week. The information is updated every 4 minutes and is automatically corrected on the diagram without requiring any action from you.

Above the problem area in the upper right corner, the degree of its workload in points and the time of the last check are displayed.

If you click on the gear, a window with a slider will appear, with which you can predict the probability of an increase in traffic flow in the next hour. Under the slider, it is possible to check the "Road events" checkbox - in this case, the map will immediately display all the places where repairs are being carried out, an accident has occurred or the passage has been closed.

The "Statistics" tab accumulates information about traffic jams by day of the week for the past 2 months. By selecting the desired day and moving the slider to the desired time of day, we will see a traffic situation simulated with a high degree of probability, which should be expected in the near future.

By clicking on the button in the upper left corner in the form of a black arrow, you will move to your current location.

Traffic congestion avoidance scheme

Below we will consider the most problematic sections of the M4 highway, where protracted traffic jams are observed during the holiday season. In addition to traffic avoidance routes, added online maps with current traffic conditions.

The village of Losevo is located on the M4 "Don" in the Pavlovsky district of the Voronezh region. Below is a detailed description of how to bypass the traffic jam in Losevo from and to Moscow.

Method 1 - any direction

Residents of Voronezh and the region have studied the bypass routes best of all and, in their opinion and experience, today the Sredniy Ikorets - Liski - urban-type settlement (not to be confused with the neighboring village) Kamenka - Pavlovsk is considered the undisputed leader. The bypass road is good, takes 1 hour and adds an extra 90 km.

If you go in the direction of Moscow, then, before reaching Upper Mamon, you can leave the toll road a little earlier and stick to the following settlements: Derezovka - Novaya Kalitva - Rossosh - Liski.

Vladimirovka - Gran - Pokrovka - Losevo - frankly not the best the best route, passing through villages with rather poor asphalt coverage and through fields with forests on a rolled primer (10-12 km) with deep puddles. But, despite this, vacationers go here and do it often. In dry weather, Astra, Mazda 5 and 2110 level puzoters pass without problems. Total 50 km, hook 25 km, time - 1 hour.

M4 - Berezki - Poddubny - Losevo - the road is generally tolerable, without gravel roads and forced marches across the field. In Poddubny, the asphalt is good, but outside it, as usual in the village.

Video with alternative routes

Under the video player is a playlist where you can choose the appropriate way to bypass.

Traffic jam around Kamensk-Shakhtinsky (Kalinovka)

The city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky and the Kalinovka farm in the Rostov region in the summer become another obstacle for tourists seeking to quickly get to warmer climes Or return to your favorite job.

But it doesn’t matter, I’ll tell you how to safely bypass the traffic jam in the Kamensk-Shakhtinsk area.

Option 1 - South

In Kamensk-Shakhtinsk itself, we turn right in front of the interchange from the M4 highway to the street. Heroes of the Pioneers, after about 3 km we run into another interchange, where you need to drive into it with reverse side, to go left through the railway path, immediately to the right and go around the park along the street. Likhovskaya, on the circle we keep the main (straight) along the street. Profile, we pass the next circle, to the right onto the A-250 highway, soon it will sharply bend by ~ 45 degrees, leading to the street. Marine.

After about 5 km, do not miss the turn to the Volchinsky farm, followed by Svetly, past Uglerodovsky, through the railway, through the Likhovskaya microdistrict along the street. Pushkin, at the end to the right and, slightly wagging, this road will take you back to the Don highway after ~ 8.5 km. Total mileage 55 km, time - 1 hour.

In the village of Molodyozhny we turn off the M4 and keep along the railway tracks, we pass the railway station Bozhkovka, after 1 km to the left, past the village of Topolevy, through the village of Bozhkovka and x. Volodarsky. Hook 40 km, takes ~40-50 minutes, the coverage is fine, with a few exceptions, but nothing to worry about.

We go around the traffic jams of Rostov-on-Don

In the Rostov region, toll sections of the M4 Don highway will be built for a long time, so there is no full-fledged ring road yet, and in the summer the entrance to Rostov is catastrophically overloaded with transit cars of tourists. In order not to waste precious vacation time, breathing the exhaust gases of hundreds of smoky cars, use the suggested recommendations.

Traffic jams in Rostov now on Yandex map

We leave the M4 for Novocherkassk-Bolshoy Log-Aksai.

Direction to Moscow - we leave the Don highway at Vodyanaya Balka.

Moving towards the capital, if you slipped through a stationary traffic police post and drove into Tsukerova Balka, you will have to move onto a well-rolled field road. Local "entrepreneurs" offer uninformed travelers escort for 500 rubles.

If the final (intermediate) point of the trip is planned in the Anapa region, i.e. it can be the Kerch ferry and Gelendzhik, then the traffic jams of Rostov-on-Don can be bypassed from the other side of the city and keep the path to the sea along the Azov highway.

It will look like this: on the M-4 "Don", after the Red Kolos, before reaching the village of Rassvet, we turn right to the Red Crimea, through the Leninavan farm past Koisug we get to the Novoaleksandrovka farm. We continue to drive past the dacha non-profit association (DNT) Michurinets-3, through Peshkovo to the villages of Starominskaya and Staroderevyankovskaya (Kanevskaya). The further path to the South is described below under the spoiler "Scheme 2".

How to bypass the traffic jam in Timashevsk?

Through Timashevsk, a dense flow of cars of vacationers travels towards the Kerch crossing, but the city greets guests with serious traffic jams due to the railway lines passing there.

The current state of affairs on the roads

In order not to get into a transport collapse on the road to the sea, use the proposed scheme of detours.

Moving from Bryukhovetskaya on the ring in front of Timashevsk, we ignore the turn to the right and continue straight ahead (to Krasnodar). We are looking for a turn into the city on the street. 50 years of October, we drive to the street. Shevchenko, where we again leave to the right to the intersection with the street. Brothers Stepanov, at this intersection turn left towards the street. profile. We cross the railway crossing and turn left onto the street. Victory or Voroshilov.

The described option, although it eliminates certain troubles, is still not without some disadvantages due to driving around the city.

This route involves completely eliminating Timashevsk and driving past it: the Don highway - the village of Kanevskaya - Bryukhovetskaya - Novodzherelievskaya - Grechanaya Balka - Slavyansk in the Kuban.

We leave behind Kanevskaya and in Pereyaslavskaya we leave for Bryukhovetskaya, through the Pody farm we reach the village of Novodzherelievskaya and through Rogovskaya we get to Grechanaya Balka. Next will be the villages of Novonikolaevskaya, after it Starodzherelievskaya, Poltava and at the end of Slavyansk-on-Kuban. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that transit transport is forbidden to go through it, so we use the ring road. The hook turns out to be only 15 km, but there are no unnecessary unplanned long stops.

Video of Timashevsk detour according to scheme 2

Dzhubga - traffic jams and their detour

The Krasnodar Territory is famous for its epic traffic jam during the holiday season Hot key- Defanovka - Dzhubga. But tourists go on vacation to Gelendzhik, Tuapse, Sochi, Adler and Abkhazia along this section of the M4 Don highway. In order not to waste your nerves and irreplaceable hours of a long-awaited vacation, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with alternative route to the sea passing through the Shaumyan pass.

Current online congestion level

I’ll clarify right away that for the most part there is no asphalt surface, and you have to drive on a normal gravel road with average speed 20-40 km / h, everything about everything takes 25-30 minutes. In rainy weather with low clearance, it is better not to meddle in the pass, but in dry weather, lowered cars with a clearance of 10 cm calmly pass.

I describe the direction towards the sea: before reaching the Goryachiy Klyuch, we leave the M4 highway to the village of Saratovskaya and Kubanskaya, we pass Apsheronsk and Khadyzhensk, we fly by Shaumyan and get to Tuapse.

How to drive along the M4 Don without wasting time?

To minimize the chance of getting stuck in traffic for a long time, try to follow simple tips based on the experience of tourists who are personally "lucky" to survive all this torment.

  1. The car must have a navigator with up-to-date maps and a speedcam - this way you will avoid confusion when moving over rough terrain, and you will be warned in advance about approaching stationary traffic police posts, video cameras and current speed limits.
  2. Mobile Internet will allow online tracking of upcoming problem areas and building detour maneuvers in advance.
  3. Carry out a thorough pre-trip preparation of the car: check the freon level and top up if necessary; make sure that the radiator is not leaking, otherwise you will be left without an air conditioner very soon; change antifreeze or make sure of its quality, otherwise there is a chance to get up at the wrong time with an open smoking hood in the heat itself; pads and brake discs must pass the serpentine test many times; before the trip, change the oil and all filters in a circle; do not take risks with bald tires; remember if it's time to change the alternator belt, timing and pump; stock up on a few spare low and high beam bulbs; make it a rule to refuel when the tank is empty by 40-50% at empty branded gas stations or purchase a canister, because there are terrible lines at many gas stations; install an application on your smartphone with traffic rules of the Russian Federation and current fines for constructive communication with traffic cops; buy caffeine tablets at the pharmacy to increase wakefulness by 2 hours and not fall asleep while driving; look at the expiration date of the fire extinguisher and the first aid kit; keep plenty of water and enough food in the cabin.
  4. reduce their cost and allow faster passage through checkpoints.
  5. Plan ahead to be in Losevo at night, approximately between 10 pm and 7 am, or late in the evening if it is a weekday (Monday-Thursday). This recommendation is also relevant for the Hot Key - Dzhubga.
  6. Settle in for the night in well-lit safe places crowded cars or in motels - avoid spending the night in a dark, deserted field or on the side of the road, where a busy car stream passes a meter away.
  7. Initially, remember that you won’t be able to avoid all traffic jams, so add a few hours to the planned travel time and accept the upcoming inconvenience as something inevitable, but by no means fatal.
  8. Help other travelers with your tips 😇 and leave them below in the comments.

(function(w, d, n, s, t) ( w[n] = w[n] || ; w[n].push(function() ( Ya.Context.AdvManager.render(( blockId: "R-A -143470-6", renderTo: "yandex_rtb_R-A-143470-6", async: true )); )); t = d.getElementsByTagName("script"); s = d.createElement("script"); s .type = "text/javascript"; s.src = "//an.yandex.ru/system/context.js"; s.async = true; t.parentNode.insertBefore(s, t); ))(this , this.document, "yandexContextAsyncCallbacks");

At the beginning of August 2018, we went on a trip to the north - along. A little over two weeks later, we set off in the opposite direction - south.

Our goal was the Crimea. But we could allocate no more than a week for it - work interfered with the plans and required an obligatory presence in Penza, or rather, near Penza. And we also could not shift the dates of the trip to more convenient ones because of the same work. So we had to return to Moscow along a completely different path.

In this situation, it would be better to fly to the Crimea by plane, but it turned out to be a little expensive. In addition, we love road trips, and this trip turned out to be very unusual in terms of route and impressions.

On August 31, 2018, at 8 am we started from Moscow. On this day we had to drive 1060 km to Rostov-on-Don. Actually, I am not a fan of such huge runs, preferring to limit myself to 500-600 km per day, so that there is time for sightseeing and other interesting things.

It would be more logical to make an intermediate stop in Voronezh, fortunately, there are a lot of attractions and many comfortable hotels. But in this situation, we could not afford it. However, I know a lot of people who manage to get to the Black Sea in one trip: 18-20 hours driving - and you are there. But to me, such a race is completely without a buzz.

In my opinion, with all my love for the North, the M-4 Don highway is much more interesting than the high-speed one. When you drive along the M-11, continuous forests stretch along the highway. Sometimes swamps. And then more forests. The only entertainment is to watch the vegetation change: spruce forest, Pinery, mixed forest, birch. There are practically no settlements. At some point, boredom begins to overcome and you find the only salvation in conversations.

Another thing is the southern route. All around are landscapes of incredible beauty and scope: hills and ravines, ribbons of rivers, picturesque copses, ancient cities and villages.

Heaps in the Tula region

There are several paid sections on the M-4 Don highway, and every year there are more and more of them. We bought a transponder at one of the Lukoil gas stations. It is more profitable to drive on toll roads with it. But, as it turned out much later, on the M-11 highway it works every other time, and on the Moscow-Solnechnogorsk section it does not provide discounts. Although it was written on its packaging that it works on the M-1 Odintsovo Northern Bypass, M-3 Ukraine, M-4 Don, M-11 Moscow - St. Petersburg and on the Western High-Speed Diameter in St. Petersburg.

Payment point at the end of one of the toll sections of the M-4 Don highway

On the M-4 highway, the transponder worked almost flawlessly. The main thing is to slowly drive past the scanning device so that the system withdraws money from the account and opens the barrier.

We passed the Moscow, Tula, Lipetsk regions. The landscapes are magnificent: hills and beams, fields and copses. But after Karelia it was difficult for me to rebuild, the energy here is completely different.

Typical landscapes along the M-4 "Don" highway

Highway M-4 "Don"

Zadonsk. Zadonsky Nativity-Bogoroditsky Monastery

In the Voronezh region, pine forests have gone, almost the same as along the R-21 "Kola" highway in Leningrad region. We even joked that the road must have taken a detour that we didn't notice.

And then the endless fields and ridges on the horizon stretched again. There were still several hundred kilometers to Rostov-on-Don, and we were already pretty tired from driving. Not so much physically as mentally.

The Voronezh region is famous for its chalk mountains. They are very picturesque.

In Losevo, we got stuck in a traffic jam that stretched to Pavlovsk and beyond. A road is being built around these settlements. When completed, it will, of course, be much better. But so far we have lost about two hours (and maybe more) of precious time. Therefore, many people try to leave the house in such a way as to pass this place at night.

The day seemed to be drawing to a close. And we all drove, drove. The border of the Rostov region, not to mention Rostov-on-Don itself, loomed somewhere ahead.

Some of those who travel south spend the night in their cars. For safety reasons, they usually stop at large gas stations or traffic police posts.

We entered the Rostov region at dusk. Night soon fell. The route there goes quite close to the border with the DPR. We arrived in Rostov-on-Don at about 11 pm, closer to midnight we settled in "Marins Park Hotel". I wanted to sleep more than eat. That's why local cuisine could only appreciate in the morning.

The M-4 Don highway is the result of the work of the GIPRODORNII Institute, which is engaged in scientific design research in the field of road construction. The construction of the road was carried out in the second half of the last century (from 1959 to 1966).

The route was assigned to the road of the 3rd technical category, with parameters of 7 m in width and two lanes. Initially, the M-4 Don highway was not designed for heavy traffic.

Starting from the 80s, it became necessary to create an additional section of the road in the Moscow region (Domodedovo district), in connection with which a section equal to 18.4 km was built. On the eve of the new millennium, the expansion of the route continued. In just a year (from 1999 to 2000), M-4 Don became 135 km longer (including due to regional highways in Moscow and Tula), and the number of lanes increased to four to eight.

Important! As a result, today the route smoothly passes into the Lipetskaya street of the city of Moscow. Such transformations of the M-4 "Don" made it possible to reduce the traffic load on the section of the Kashirskoye Highway, which is now used mostly as a bypass for cars from other regions of the country.

The route was also distinguished by the fact that one of its bypass sections in the Lipetsk region (near the village of Khlevnoye), built back in 1998, subsequently became the first in the country to charge a toll. And although the length of this road was only 20 km, it became the first in the list of toll roads in Russia.

Since the zero years, large-scale construction aimed at the development of the route, the creation of separate carriageways, as well as intersections with other routes, through the construction of multi-level highways, continued to gain momentum. The night lighting system is being actively put into operation.

From 2009 to 2011, several bypass roads were built (the cities of Bogoroditsk, Efremov, Yelets, etc.), which made it possible to move heavy traffic outside the settlements.

After control over the road passed to the state company in 2010, it, together with partners (the association of carriers, the media), initiated an inspection of the condition of the route and the level of service on the road. As a result, it was found that half of the infrastructure facilities do not meet the requirements of comfort, and a third - the norms of the law. The history of the introduction of toll sections on the M-4 Don highway.

Reference! October 1999 - a Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation is issued regarding the establishment of the first toll section of the M-4 Don highway. The roadbed itself and infrastructure facilities around it were repaired: the road became wider and smoother, it was fully equipped with a lighting system at night; rest areas and fast lanes became compliant with the provisions of the law.

A multi-level traffic interchange, which allows changing to additional branches of the main road, was built at 461 km. Section of the bypass between settlements Zadonsk and with. Khlevnoye (from 417 to 464 km), which increased the total length of the route, became paid at the end of 2010.

In the spring of 2013, a common Toll Collection Point (TOC) appeared. We installed it at 71 km of the route for a section of 20 km (from 51 to 71 km). Subsequently, this segment became longer by 52 km.

In 2013, toll sections of the road from 225 to 260 km became gradually; from 330.8 to 414.7 km and from 287 to 321 km - a bypass route around the city of Efremov is being created.

2015 - new sections of the highway appear, for which drivers must pay. After the global repair of the bypass road around Voronezh, the section from 492 to 517 km became paid. In the same year, all car owners began to pay for travel along the section of the road from 544 to 633 km.

2016 brought new changes. Now it was impossible to drive for free along 93-211 km of the Moscow-Tula road, and also along 571-544 km of the Voronezh region (here a bypass section of the route was built around the villages of Novaya Usman and Rogachevka).
In the Rostov region, the toll on the M-4 Don highway (from 1091 to 1119 km) was introduced at the end of 2017.

Attention! All toll sections of the route are equipped with special systems for collecting money for travel: open or mixed type. The vast majority of sections use an open system, meaning that the driver pays once, passing through the toll booth.

He does not pay anymore (regardless of the time frame), if only he moves without leaving the borders of the paid zone. And only on the Lipetsk section of the road (414-464 km) a different payment system is used: here, drivers pay for the fare when crossing the toll plaza, however, the validity of the payment is limited to 12 hours. If the car stays within the boundaries of the paid zone longer, then the fee is paid again when leaving the territory. The length of stay on the paid section is determined on the basis of a check issued to the driver at the entrance.

For the convenience and safety of traffic, all paid sections are equipped with fixed telephone facilities, with the help of which, in the event of emergency you can contact emergency services.

On toll roads there is no system of traffic lights and adjoining side roads, and oncoming traffic flows are divided among themselves. This allows drivers to reach speeds of up to 130 km / h.

Equipped with toll roads and an automatic control system, the functioning of which is ensured by the work of various technical. means - video cameras, weather stations, etc. This allows you to quickly receive information about the situation on the road, depending on the weather, lighting, emergency cases.

Reference! The collected data makes it possible to quickly make decisions to eliminate any problems on the track, with the involvement of the appropriate assistance services. Information important for ensuring the normal movement of transport is placed for drivers on the road special. scoreboard.

The establishment of paid travel is under the jurisdiction of the Government of the Russian Federation, which operates on the basis of Article 36 of the Federal Law of 08.11.2007 N257-FZ.
