Hot key in the Krasnodar Territory. mountain park

In mid-March, as soon as the weather was more or less suitable, we decided to make the first “outing” this year to local resorts. And our first object was the Hot Key.
The name of the Goryachiy Klyuch resort is known to many in our country, even to those who have never been here, thanks to the mineral water of the same name. It is here that this medicinal water is extracted, which then, in the familiar bottles “with deer”, ends up on the shelves of all stores in our country.

The resort is located next to federal highway M4-Don, approximately in the middle between Krasnodar and Dzhubga, so those who rode Krasnodar resorts along this route, they simply could not help but pay attention to the impressive hotel complex " old lock”, which can be called one of the visiting cards of the city.

The "Old Castle" is located on the banks of the Psekups River, while the city is located on the other side. You can cross the bridge, which for some reason is called "Happy". It also has another name - the Bridge of Hope. This is a fairly impressive modern suspension bridge that sways slightly underfoot.

Approaching the resort area, you will immediately feel the specific smell of hydrogen sulfide. There is a hydrogen sulfide source not far from the bridge. In the warm season, you can often see a group of people sitting in the water near the shore. It is here that this source, which is considered curative, is located. Noteworthy is the unusual color of the water - emerald green.

When you cross the bridge, you enter mountain park. At all, resort area The city is divided into two parts: in fact, the sanatorium-resort zone, where sanatoriums, a drinking gallery are located, and a mountainous part, very picturesque and unique. The city is located in the foothills of the Caucasus, so there is a special relief, mountain climate, and interesting vegetation. Already in March, the first flowers bloom everywhere.

The first thing you will see on the central platform of the mountain park is a monument to the famous physiologist I.P. Pavlov. Everyone remembers from the school curriculum about the "Pavlov's dog", but few people know that he was studying the beneficial properties of mineral waters. And although Pavlov was not in the Hot Key, his scientific research did not go unnoticed here.

To the right of the monument is an old blue and white building. This is an officer's balneary, built in the 19th century. Here the officers of the Russian army restored their health during and after the many years of the Caucasian war. Today, the building houses the Neptune's Kingdom Aquarium.

Behind this building is interesting object, which is called the Adyghe pillar. It dates back to the 12th century. This is a fragment of a column that somehow got here from Byzantium. Inscriptions in Old Arabic are engraved on it, and next to it is a stone with a tablet on which the translation of the inscription is given.

Mineral meadow

If you turn from the pillar (from the side where the inscription) to the right, you will go along the path to Mineralnaya Glade. This is a kind of "heart" of the park. Mount Abadzekh rises above the clearing. In some places on the hills you can see images of white birds - or swans, or cranes. Perhaps this is related to some ancient legend, but, unfortunately, with which one, I do not know. The place is very beautiful indeed. general impression spoil the numerous "autographs" left by modern savages.

The mineral glade is a large rectangular area artificially carved into the rock. The glade is not called so by chance, since it was here that the Psekup mineral waters came to the surface - the main treasure of these places.

For a long time this place was not well-maintained, but the local tribes (ancestors of the Circassians) who lived here, and then the pilgrims still made their way to the springs for healing water. Today, everything here is equipped, ennobled, but the water from the sources no longer comes to the surface - it is diverted through special pipes to the drinking gallery.

The glade is located among the hills, so it is very quiet and calm here, in addition, several interesting objects are located on it at once. The first is an obelisk in the very center of the site, dedicated to .... spa mineral water. Yes, yes, it is considered the only monument in the world in honor of the mineral waters that healed many people, gave them strength, health and longevity, and also in honor of “all those who worked to create the resort” (as it is written on the monument itself). The monument was erected in this place in honor of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the resort, in 1914.

Here is located healing spring Saint Panteleimon. The water in the spring is saturated with iron, so it has a specific taste - as if you are drinking from rusty dishes, a very unpleasant taste of rust remains in your mouth. The water flows very slowly, so it takes a very long time to fill a bottle, and you risk collecting a large queue behind you. But there is no point in taking this water into a bottle, since it loses its properties very quickly - iron precipitates after a few minutes. Therefore, it is better to come up with a glass and take a few sips, as well as wash your face. It is believed that this water has a rejuvenating effect. You can put a candle next to it.

On the mineral meadow is interesting chapel, very small, and as if grown out of a rock. This is the chapel of the Iberian Mother of God, it was erected here in the 19th century. Its inner part is a small grotto or cave carved into the rock of Abdzekhskaya, to which a blue extension with a turret adjoins. Nearby there is a small depression in the form of a stone arch, reminiscent of the fact that there used to be another source here - the Iberian spring. the source was here back in the 20s of the last century, but after the shifts of the mountain layers that occurred here, the source disappeared.

Dante's Gorge

Then the so-called "path of health" begins, opening with a passage in the rock, which received beautiful name- "Dante's Gorge" - a fault in the rock. But before entering Dante's gorge, located between boulders, hardly anyone can resist trying to climb the mountain along specially hollowed out recesses for arms and legs.
This kind of “attraction” is called just that - the Rock of Seduction, since few people will pass and not be tempted to climb up. Of course, children especially like it - there are always a lot of school excursion groups here from early spring to late autumn.

The Dantovo Gorge itself is not very long, but very picturesque, the maximum depth of the fault is 15 meters, stone steps lead up between boulders, a stream gurgles nearby, the water in which is clean, quite drinking. True, again, the impression spoils " rock painting"modern" cavemen ". The fact is that the rock here is very soft, easily amenable to a knife, and therefore everyone strives to leave a “good” memory of himself here.

Climbing up the Dante Gorge, you need to follow the path that turns into reverse side and runs parallel to the gorge almost directly above it. From the path you can look down and see the gorge, the stream. Moving further, you can look from above and at the Mineral Glade.

Psyfabe fortress

Presumably, it was on the mountain above the mineral meadow that the ancient fortress of Psyfabe (translated as “warm water”) was located. Until our time, nothing remains of her. There is an unusual small stone structure here, which many take for the remains of a fortress, but in fact, it is an old water collector that has nothing to do with the fortress. However, this building often appears in photographs and is presented as part of the fortress.

The fortress, indeed, was once here, and a legend is connected with it about a beautiful princess, the daughter of a local prince who lived in this fortress, and a villain in love with her, who wooed the princess, but was refused. Then, in revenge, he bewitched the princess, because of which she became covered with terrible disfiguring ulcers. The frightened father turned to the magician, who advised the princess to take baths with local spring water, and a miraculous cure ensued. The villain, as a punishment, was imprisoned underground, where he was forever doomed to kindle fires and heat huge boilers of water, which is why hot springs beat here.

After walking a few more meters, you will come to the so-called Tsar's pavilions. In fact, there is also nothing left of the royal arbors built in the 19th century, but the former name has remained behind the modern arbors. The largest gazebo is located on the very high point, the next one is right at the place where the "crest" of the Cockerel rock or the Salvation rock is located.

There was once a gazebo here, built for the arrival of Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich (brother of Emperor Alexander II) in 1864, but under the influence of the river, part of the rock collapsed, and with it the gazebo, and a “ridge” formed at the site of the collapse - almost sheer part of the rock.

Cockerel Rock or Salvation Rock

This rock is rightfully considered one of the main symbols of the city. With its outlines, it resembles a cockscomb. Daredevils often try to walk along this narrow ridge. From here a wonderful view of Psekups and its surroundings, the foothills of the Caucasus opens up.

Cockerel Rock has another name - Salvation Rock. there are many legends associated with this name. According to one of them, the ancient Circassians made it possible for a criminal sentenced to death to save his life. He could jump off this rock into Psekups, if he managed to survive, the sentence was not carried out, but he was expelled from the tribe forever.
Most best view on the rock Cockerel opens from the opposite bank. There on the territory hotel complex The "Old Fortress" is a platform from which you can see this rock in detail. Along its entire height, a very steep stone staircase rises from the river. In front of our eyes, one risky guy tried to go down it, but after a few steps he abandoned this dangerous undertaking.

Actually, the attractions of the mountain park end here. Along the path along the river, you can return to the site with the monument to I.P. Pavlov, from where to go to the resort park.

Hot key
Like most cities on the left bank of the Kuban, Goryachiy Klyuch was founded in the middle of the century before last (1864). And it was immediately a resort and a health resort. The city of Goryachiy Klyuch owes its birth to mineral springs, which were used for healing millennia ago.

Rock "Salvation" ("Cockerel").
One of the most famous monuments nature of the Caucasus. The rock was once called the "Rock of Salvation". It is located on the western slope of the Abadzekh mountain, on the Psekups River, on the outskirts of the resort town Goryachiy Klyuch. The height is about 28 meters.
The rock was created by the "perseverance" of the Psekups River, which for millions of years, skirting the Abadzekh mountain on its way, cut off its southern side. Thus, an almost sheer rock was born.
The top of the rock consists of six teeth (another one, the seventh, collapsed into the river at night in the last century) and resembles a cockscomb. It is visible from the Don highway in the Goryachiy Klyuch area.
The rock has two small caves ("Sounding" and "Salvation"). Between them is the steep "Ladder of Life", carved out of stone. From the Rock "Salvation" ("Cockerel") offers a beautiful view of the valley of the river Psekups, wooded spurs of the Pshaf ridge.

"Dante's" gorge.
An unusual natural monument at the foot of the Abadzekh mountain. Marvelous a nice place in the healing park of the city of Goryachiy Klyuch. The gorge was created by nature and people.
Nature divided the mountain slopes with this narrow 100-meter rock gap (up to 15 meters deep). People in the 70s of the nineteenth century cut down a stone "Dante's" staircase along the bottom of the gorge and ennobled the clearing in front of the entrance. Gradually, due to the destruction of rocks under the influence of the local Klyuchevoye stream, snow and frost, the gorge became a little deeper and wider.
"Dante's" gorge is named after the Italian poet, thinker and scientist of the Renaissance Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). His poem "Comedy", called by the descendants of "Divine", depicts the poet's journey through the afterlife.

"Mineral" meadow.
A picturesque site in the area of the Hot Gorge between Abadzekhskaya and Kurortnaya Mountains in the Healing Park at the entrance to the "Dantovo" Gorge.
In ancient times, it was here that the most abundant natural outlets of the Psekup mineral waters were located. Next to them, people dug holes in the ground, filled them with hot healing water, and were treated.
Then these places were landscaped, water from the sources was diverted through the pipes of the mineral water closer to the Goryachiy Klyuch resort. At the foot of the mountain, the Iberian chapel was built. A monument to "living water" was erected in the center of the meadow.

The chapel is located at the foot of the Abadzekh (Key) Mountain, not far from the right bank of the Psekups River. It was attached to a stone grotto in the second half of the 19th century next to the healing Iberian spring. It operated until the twenties of the last century, gave local residents Hot Key and holy water for pilgrims. But then, as a result of the shift of mountain layers, the water left. Only a bowl in the form of a sea shell remained a reminder of the fertile spring. And a chapel.
Every Friday at eleven o'clock, an akathist (a special solemn service) is performed in front of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God. It is located in the central niche of the chapel. On either side of it are icons with the faces of the Savior and saints. Everyone can come here with a request to the Most Holy Theotokos for intercession, with gratitude for the recovery.

2. "Dante's" gorge.

An unusual natural monument at the foot of the Abadzekh mountain. An amazingly beautiful and accessible place in the Healing Park on the outskirts of the city of Goryachiy Klyuch. The gorge was created by nature and people.

Nature divided the mountain slopes with this narrow 100-meter rock gap (up to 15 meters deep). People in the 70s of the nineteenth century cut down a stone "Dante's" staircase along the bottom of the gorge and ennobled the clearing in front of the entrance (the springs in these places were swampy, the view of these places was far from a resort, plus - mosquitoes).

Initially, the double-headed coat of arms of the Russian Empire was installed at the top of the cone. And below, on the four planes of the column, there were name boards on which were the names of the Cossack units that participated in the Caucasian War (according to another version, the names of the founders of the city of Goryachiy Klyuch).

But gradually the patriotic attributes were forgotten. And the obelisk next to the "constellation of springs" was increasingly perceived as a tribute to the Psekup mineral waters, which helped restore health, vigor, joy of spirit to millions of people over the years of the resort's history.

It is important to note that for quite a long period the chapel was in oblivion.

Restoring it to its original form is the merit of the present generation.

6. Arch in honor of the 50th anniversary of the resort (with lions).

Monument of architecture of the XX century. The arch was erected in 1914 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Goryachiy Klyuch resort in the Healing Park (it was then called Sanatorium) not far from the Drinking Gallery. The height is about five meters.

At the base of the square columns, united by an openwork metal lintel, based on the plot of an old painting about these places, figures of two lions were made and installed on massive slabs. The monument is a cenotaph, that is, a tombstone over an empty grave, and was erected in honor of the Bzhedukh nobleman Khapach Lakshuk, one of the most famous heroes of the Bzhedukh tribe.

Another inscription on the column, of a later time, tells about the fate of the captive Cossack Zolotarev, who taught Circassian children to read and write.

Within the city of Goryachiy Klyuch, on the right bank of the Psekups River, Klyuchevaya Mountain rises - a low rocky formation, indented with caves and gorges, shrouded in fragrant pine forests. Here, at the foot of the mountain, from under the centuries-old sandstone layers, healing springs beat - world famous mineral springs Hot Key. The foot of the Key (or, as it is also called, the Abadzekh) mountain is rightly called the "constellation of sources" of the Hot Gorge. The oldest among them - Alexander's source - is actually considered the progenitor of the resort and the root cause of its foundation.

Not far from the Alexander spring there are other attractions of the Goryachiy Klyuch: the Psyfabe fortress, the Dantovo Gorge, the Petushok Rock, the Mineral Glade, the Charm Valley and others.

Residents of the North and Western Caucasus have long appreciated healing properties Alexander source. Moreover, the local "living water" was known far beyond Asia. So, the ancient Greeks, for example, in gratitude for the healing left coins and jewelry at the foot of the mountain, which have survived to this day. The healing properties of the water were also used by numerous tribes that lived here in different times: Hittites, veils, Khazars and others.

In the first half of the 19th century, an infirmary and a common bath were built at the foot of the Abadzekh mountain. Shortly after that - on June 15, 1864 - the grand opening of the hydropathic took place. All springs were consecrated, and the largest of them: Alexandrovsky and Mikhailovsky - were named accordingly. Balneotherapy was practiced in the newly-made health resort - treatment with mineral waters. In fact, from that moment on, the mass use of the medicinal waters of Psekup began.

Meanwhile, not everyone could get into the health resort. Only representatives of the Cossack class and, with rare exceptions, some wealthy citizens were treated here. The commoners still soared in the bath drains, often earning themselves new diseases instead of healing.

Later, the balneary expanded into a military hospital, and at the beginning of the 20th century it was transformed into the first sanatorium. Currently, there are about two dozen such institutions in Goryachiy Klyuch, including both reputable medical institutions and small private health resorts. The magical waters of the Alexander spring treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system, digestive, respiratory, nervous systems and a host of other diseases. And besides, the local nature also has a beneficial effect: it is good for health and pleasant for the soul. Not far from the Alexander spring there are other attractions of the Goryachiy Klyuch: Psyfabe fortress, Dantovo Gorge, Cockerel Rock, Mineral Glade, Charm Valley and others.

How to get there

Getting to the Alexander spring is quite simple. It is located less than ten kilometers from railway station not far from the sanatorium "Goryachiy Klyuch" in the western end of the city. The resort is the final stop public transport: buses come here from almost any part of the city, in particular, from the station. You can also use the electric train Goryachiy Klyuch - Tuapse-Pass., Which, by the way, follows through the Charm Valley.

  • Where to stay:“if there is a paradise in the world, it is the Krasnodar Territory” - and, as it should be for paradise, any tourist will be provided with ideal accommodation for the soul and pocket. From the Taman Peninsula to the Georgian border - hundreds of kilometers of coastline with a continuous series of resorts - noisy and quiet, lively and secluded, historical and modern. The most popular are Sochi, Tuapse, Anapa and Gelendzhik. And there is a whole bunch of resort villages and towns.
  • What to see: in the asset of any resort Krasnodar Territory surely there will be an embankment, a city garden, a museum and a water park, as well as a heel or two of natural attractions - caves, gorges, canyons and rocks. The most-most in the region - the Olympic facilities Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana, the museum-cruiser "Mikhail Kutuzov" in Novorossiysk, Fanagoria - archaeological park and a winery

When you want peace and fresh air - the best option go for the weekend and take a walk in the park of the city of Goryachiy Klyuch. From Krasnodar, drive along the M-4 Don highway for about 55 km. We usually park the car at the Old Castle Hotel, cross the bridge over the Psekups River and here it is - park zone of Goryachiy Klyuch. And you slowly begin to wander along the shady alleys, where there are many plants and trees, since the park practically adjoins the forest, as if merging with it, sit on benches, wander along the paths, listen to the chirping of birds.

In the center of the park there is a Mineral meadow, next to it there are wells of local sources of mineral water, which from here enters the Drinking Gallery and the Balneary. Drinking gallery: you buy cups at the entrance (ordinary plastic ones, although you can bring your own, if available). There are taps with warm mineral water and with cold, they are also divided into salty and not salty. You can drink as much as you like - water is free, many people pour it into bottles with them - but as far as I know, natural mineral water quickly loses its healing properties.

We go further: we see a small chapel built in honor of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God. It is carved right into the rock - and very harmoniously merges with the surrounding landscape. On Fridays at 11.00, Akafest (church service) is performed in it in front of the icon of the Mother of God of the same name - so go for it, it will be counted in heaven.

Nearby is the healing Iberian spring (ferrous mineral water) - lighting in the name of the healer Panteleimon. Feel free to drink this water, and a lot - there are rumors that by drinking a bucket, you can miraculously rejuvenate.

I recommend wandering through the Dante Gorge - a very beautiful combination of nature and modern "rock art". People tried to perpetuate their names, love stories, sacred symbols in stone, not only their own portraits, but also the faces of their leaders. In general, there is something to see, and if you wish, I think you will not be able to resist and scratch a message for history with something.

There is also a historical landmark (for retro lovers) - the Adyghe pillar. It is made from a fragment of a Byzantine column and is decorated with Arabic inscriptions carved into stone. It was installed a long time ago for the eternal memory of a certain Khapach Lakshuk, one of the most famous heroes of the Bzhedukho tribe (for ordinary people, I think there will be enough information on this).

For connoisseurs natural beauties: river Psekups and Rock Cockerel - a sheer cliff of 28 meters. The top of the rock consists of six teeth, reminiscent of a cockscomb. It is visible from the highway "Don". Not Elbrus, of course - but it will do for contemplation.

The rock has two small caves (Zvonkaya and Salvation). Between them is the steep Staircase of Life, carved out of stone. From the Rock of Salvation (Petushok) opens beautiful view to the valley of the river Psekups.

I will not write about all sorts of arches - monuments, shops - sanatoriums, let it be a surprise for you. But I strongly recommend visiting this park - and you will drink plenty of mineral water, and light candles, gormanize yourself enough - it is still good for health.
