Hello!

Number.

Nice room, not very spacious. 2 beds, wide enough. Table, refrigerator, safe, armchair, wardrobe, TV. The room has a shower and bath, as well as a sink.

At the very beginning of the arrival, the water in both taps flowed a little warm, cool. I tried to say this at the reception, but to no avail, they did not understand me and did not want to understand. I only speak a little English, but they understand perfect English. There are no Russian speaking staff. The Globe Biblio guide didn't want to help me either. I guessed to do it like in the Maldives - I call the guide, I give the phone to the girls at the reception. They couldn't figure out why I was holding out the phone to them. Although it cost money to call, but where to go. Water somehow made. The shower drain broke. I also explained through the guide on the phone. The guide did not show up at the hotel. Excursions sold and everything. The sewerage was done, but it clogged up again. Nobody did it the second time. Washed in the bathroom.

It turned out that the TV had no sound, only hiss. I didn’t even try to explain, no one would understand and they wouldn’t do it.

The beds are set against the wall tightly, unmovable. And the hum from the fridge through the wall was unbearable at night. Sleep is impossible. The view from the window is wonderful - the pool and the mountain. But the noise from the pool water at night also made it difficult to sleep. I did not rest at all, I hardly slept.

Ants were crawling in the room. But we didn't care much. 1 time we saw a large cockroach, crawled out of the corridor, kicked out. And once they saw a tiny lizard on the balcony, but it quickly crawled away.

Also, the safe in our room was broken. They fixed it quickly.

On one excursion from hotel guide we rode elephants, but there should have been more waterfalls, but they were not. And we took another tour on the street with waterfalls and with elephants.

Cleaning.

They got off fine.

There were three pillows on the beds. I put the extra ones in a chair. When my back was injured during a massage, I warmed my back for the night with pillowcases from these pillows, then they were taken away to wash, and they didn’t bring new ones until the end of my stay at the hotel ((

In the common corridor on the stairs, the steps were sticky. Nobody rubbed them like that in 2 weeks, and the soles stuck.

We hardly walked around the hotel. And they didn't follow the map.

Road to the beach. The shops.

The hotel does not have its own beach. The beach is shared. Walk to the beach for 15-20 minutes through a common street, then turn around the corner, still walk, and the beach itself is across the road. The traffic is very busy, there is a pedestrian crossing in one part, but not in the other, and you still have to go without crossing. Everywhere on the road bikers "fly" and rush. The whole street along the side of the road is full of motorcycles and cars, and you have to go not along the side of the road, but right next to the road all 20 minutes to the beach. That and look will bring down! Crossing the road to the beach is also scary.

In the morning at 10 o'clock people are just starting to appear, there are few cars, and in the evening and in the afternoon there are a lot. The streets are almost deserted until 10 am. But there are always bikers! Both women and men.

The streets are full of all sorts of stalls, massage parlors, in one of which my back was injured. Many excursion tents and shops. Today there may be a shop, and tomorrow there may be a restaurant... There are also many restaurants.

Currency exchange offices were in banks and in stalls. Choose where the rate is more profitable and you can safely change money. Dollars and euros on baht. Butt was approximately equal to the ruble, a little more. We were in July 2012.

On the streets it was still possible to do fish massage, but we only did it once.

Everywhere you need to take off your shoes before salons, massages.

Restaurants on the street.

At the hotel, we only had breakfasts, and on the street in restaurants we ate the rest of the time. Everything is delicious and inexpensive. The closer to the beach, the more expensive. At first we ate at Ati's restaurant. The staff is friendly, the menu is translated into Russian, the portions are large, the food is delicious. But then they saw that it was cheaper and began to eat at another restaurant. It happened by accident. It was late in the evening, and there everything works until 23 hours maximum. We were "lured")) The waiter (or whoever he is) of one restaurant called us, said that they had inexpensive fish, a Russian menu and vegetables for free when ordering dinner. We liked it there and we always ate there. As it turned out, fish cost the same everywhere, vegetables were also free in many places, but most importantly, the attitude of the restaurant staff)) Sea bass cost 200 baht for 1 fish. Cooked in front of us, large portions. I got vegetables for free))

In our hotel there were dinners with the same dishes as in the restaurants on the street, but the prices were 3-4 times higher. The Germans enjoyed such dishes in our restaurant and other foreigners.

Fruits.

There are few fruit stalls, fruits and vegetables are expensive, resort area. Mangoes there are awesome in one stall. Selling a woman. For some reason, my daughter didn't like the mangoes. And they took coconuts a little further away, but they rarely took them. Young delicious coconuts cost 50 baht apiece there.

The street near the hotel did not have all the variety of Thai fruits. Yellow watermelon, for example, we took on a separate excursion to local markets.

Fair.

Fair at the very end of the street, came on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I think. We collected a lot of souvenirs there, you can bargain. In Russian, they understand something. They also sold fried cockroaches there once. 1 photo 10 baht. Foreigners bought and ate, fooled around and took pictures. We did not take

Beach. Sea.

Sunbeds cost 100 baht for the whole day. There are lifeguards on the beach. One was permanent. Saved me 1 time)) There are always huge waves on the sea. Above a person, they knock him down, and if they knock him down, then they will carry him well along the sand and scrape more than once. These waves were very annoying. You don’t swim calmly, you have to fight them all the time. When the back ached from the massage of the inept, then in general there was torment.

Red flags were constantly hung on the beach, prohibiting swimming, and only yellow ones hung on one island. It means "if you really want to, then you can." And then one day the waves carried me not to the shore, but away from it, it happened by chance that it brought me over the yellow flags. The lifeguard blew his whistle, but what will I do against the elements? I've been carried too far. I was wearing armlets, and even with a camera, it got in the way. In short, the lifeguard swam up to me with his mini-boat, ordered me to sit on it and rowed me to the shore.

There is no toilet on the beach. The hotel is very far to go, and even across the road, inconvenient. The soul is also not on the beach. And there are no changing rooms. In fact, we somehow managed without them.

Sunsets on the sea are beautiful, but monotonous.

Restaurant in the hotel.

Nightmare and horror. We must stand and record that you have come. If there is no manager, then you need to wait for her. You have to stand in line and wait for her to write everyone down. This is so that you do not dare to come again, it is forbidden! This is not like you in Turkey (until there is no review for the hotel, a review for a hammam) or in Egypt, when you can go to a restaurant as many times as you like and have breakfast. Accounting!

In the Maldives, too, accounting, but there is not so.

In short, we were broke to stand and we bypassed. The manager came and followed us.

It also turned out that taking fruits out of the restaurant is under a severe ban. She saw once that we were taking bananas and showed with gestures that she was watching us and that this should not be done. I once asked her to take bread with me to feed the fish on excursions, she did not give it. What does she feel sorry for a piece of bread? She also chased the cat out of the restaurant hungry. Everyone fed her on the sly))

And in the restaurant in the morning ants crawl on the dishes.

Centara Karon - Uncut... as is.
Once again we spent a family vacation in Phuket. We didn’t plan, since we had already been here 3 times, we wanted to return to Hainan, but alas, travel agencies “put a pig on us”, canceling all flights from our city and all neighboring ones. So I had to return to Phuket. Other than that, we didn't regret it.

Once again, we began to select a hotel, and now we decided on Centara, because the rating on this site is going through the roof, and we bought into it like "dummies" ... But first things first.

Visiting time: 26.04 - 10.05.2014, room 2322.
I don’t consider myself a particularly picky tourist, I live in 3 * and 4 * in 5 * (see my other reviews).
I will write a lot, so if you are too lazy to read the main theses about the hotel, I will give at the beginning:

1. Territory - good;
2. Rooms, satisfactory, dead furniture, plumbing, general condition at "3-";
3. Service - satisfactory;
4. Meals (breakfasts) are poor and monotonous;
5. Sea, beach - removed, and not always clean;
6. Infrastructure - excellent. Large selection of cafes, shops, and tours. the Bureau.

Conclusions.
The hotel does not correspond to the declared 4 *. This is rather a tired 3 *, or even 2 * (according to the Australians) which has not been renovated since the moment of construction. There is nothing in the room that obliges to be in real 4 * or 3 *! From personal hygiene items only soap and shampoo with shower gel. All! No disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste, or anything ... that is customary to see even in average 3s.
The whole hotel is in a similar state! Cracked, still looks like 10 years ago, the sinks in the toilets ... appearance corridors, flights of stairs, other rooms that I managed to look into, and not only in our building. In short, the hotel is tired, and "cosmetics" will no longer help him ... only capital!
This continues in the service, and in the helpfulness of the staff, and in the general condition of both the rooms and the rest of the buildings, including the pools. Exception from general impression this is his beautiful territory.
In the epilogue I will say that the hotel did not justify itself. His stardom is exaggerated, and the rating is screwed up with "fake" reviews. Read English-language reviews from Australians and British, of whom the hotel is full, and everything will fall into place;)
I will refrain from recommendations for choosing and visiting.

Well, the vacation and the next, 4th visit to Tai was more than successful!
We are not fussy or boring, and this hotel did not spoil our vacation. Everything went perfectly! Visited several new places away from Phuket that we hadn’t been to before, so we returned from vacation with a great mood!

But now everything is in more detail.

Since we checked in at 1 am, we started our acquaintance with the reception and our room. And if the first, in general, is very common, then the room, Deluxe at The Lagoon, turned out to be very "shabby and tired", the furniture is old and all "poked", the bathroom is combined with a toilet and obviously recently slightly updated, but the taps in it could only be opened with 2 hands, they are dead and almost dead "sour" and must be replaced immediately, in other things, what their appearance says.
In general, the first glance at the room caused an instant question about the rating of the hotel, and its star rating ... There was no iron, no ironing board, no cutlery in the room. Only 2 tea pairs, and the number is for 4;) Water in a glass container, which is constantly taken away, filled with water and returned to its place ... The room is generally dominated by minimalism and sports atmosphere. They clean every day, and always at different times, you won't guess, they clean for 3k, no more. An interesting moment! There are only 2 sockets in the whole room, and in one of them there is a kettle in the second TV! That is, or or ... or a TV set or charging a camera or a laptop. True, there are 2 more in the bathroom, so if you need to charge your smart or tablet, then go to the bathroom! It's the first time I see it)))
For all this mediocrity, the hotel has a deposit of as much as $200!
The air conditioning worked fine otherwise, thanks for that. On the balcony there are 2 plastic chairs and a table, all worn out and only memories remain of their original white color.
The hotel regularly cuts off electricity, literally every day, sometimes for 15 minutes, sometimes for a couple of hours ... judging by the "come in large numbers" in Phuket, this will soon become the norm for the island, it simply chokes in traffic jams. This was not the case a couple of years ago.

Internet.
There is throughout the hotel but free only in the lobby and cafe on the first floor of the hotel (main building).
In the rest of the territory or for loot - 999 Baht unlimited or 600 Baht for 10 days or free of charge if you are the owner club card Centara 1 Card. I have one, so I used the Internet throughout the territory for free. By the way, the internet is not fast. But you can read the news.

Breakfast and food in general.
Reading numerous reviews on this site about breakfast and their variety in this hotel, we were not a little surprised when we saw everything with our own eyes. I'm curious about those "authors"... There is NO variety of breakfasts at all. Everything is very monotonous and scarce. For 14 days of stay, every day in the dining room was the same with an accuracy of 99.99%. The assortment will certainly not allow you to starve, but do not count on putting something different and different from yesterday on your plate every day.
A typical assortment presented in the dining room: Chicken sausage, Bacon, Cheese - 1 kind, baked potatoes with pepper, steamed rice, scrambled eggs, eggs, beef / chicken with spicy pepper, local noodles, rice porridge, yogurt, 3 types of Yupi juices, pastries 2-3 assortments, bread 3-4 types, boiled beans and vegetables: cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes. Fruits (in the normal range) EVERYTHING! Listed the entire list of the "huge assortment" of your breakfast)))
Fruit is true in sufficient quantity. True, sour pineapples and frankly rotten papaya were served a couple of times ...
Breakfast service is another story altogether!
Never, never!!! In all my trips and stays in hotels from 3 to 5 *, I did not run after the waiters asking them to pour me coffee and tea! In Centar, I did it every day! Service, what can I say?
And how do you like the queue for breakfast?! Interesting?! Then you are here. The Thai girl who writes down your room number before entering the dining room collects queues. Writes down the number, and takes you to the table. And until she returns, everyone else needs to stand and wait. This is directly written on the ad on the pedestal of this secret ... Russians, of course, do not perceive this stupidity, they said the number and went to choose the table themselves, but the Australians and other Anglo-Saxons stand and stupid in line. I see this for the first time too. Looks funny. I'm not surprised then why on tripadvisor all the reviews about the hotel "Terrible" and "Bad" come from them.
Lunch and dinner went, of course, to cafes and restaurants outside the hotel, there are plenty of them from simple to quite decent. Pts. I liked 2Chefs - tasty, clean, live music is unobtrusive, the price tag is average but it's worth it.
In general, it is difficult to advise on the choice of a cafe outside the hotel, but believe me, you can easily find the one that suits you in terms of price and quality. Please note that all cafes across the street from the hotel, closer to the Buddhist Temple, have a price tag of about 20% lower than those cafes located in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

The territory of the hotel.
Hike, this is why they didn’t take away 4 * from him and didn’t slap the well-deserved 2 *
The territory is green, spacious, well-groomed and in general pleasant and beautiful. This is a fact and it is difficult not to accept it.
There is a SPA on the territory, there is a fitness center (simulator) with a small, but in principle sufficient selection of exercise equipment. Keeping fit is easy here! Fortunately, almost no one goes to the gym, and for example, I almost always worked out here alone, well, at most, together with someone. The rest prefer to grow bellies and ... ops while drinking beer. But that's their business ;)
There are 3 swimming pools on the territory, one for each building. The one near Laguna, in general, is for children, small with 2 water slides and constantly cloudy water. The one at Tropical is deep (1.8m) and large, and it is an order of magnitude cleaner.

Sea and beach.
Since the hotel is located on the ..th line from the sea, you need to walk to it exactly 9 minutes at a fast pace, all 12 in the junction. At the same time, you need to go 2 car roads with heavy traffic, where no one is actually in a hurry to let you through. For example, I prefer first line hotels, so ... in other ways, this walk did not bother me. Karon beach itself, in principle, is normal, sometimes dirty, and thoroughly, and sometimes basically clean. On what depends, I did not fully understand ... perhaps from the tides or from the work of the janitors on the beach, although I have not seen them once. There are sun loungers for 200 baht, there are 100 baht ... there is no difference between them. Just different owners.
In general, the situation with the beaches on the island has changed dramatically over the past, literally 2-3 years.
If in 2012 Karon seemed the cleanest and the most beautiful beach islands, today it looks more like Patong...
Want to clean beaches, then you are in other bays starting from Surin and to the north.
As the locals say, everything to the south, starting from Kamala, is a garbage dump (((

If you decide to spend your holidays on the famous exotic island Phuket, Hospitable Hotel Centara Karon Resort Phuket 4* is the best place to relax on a comfortable beach and make your stay as comfortable as possible at a nice price. Here You will be treated to an almost top class service., which will encourage you to come back here more than once and allow you to discover all the beauties of enchanting Thailand.

The hotel positions itself as one of the the best places living on the island for families with children, so if you have no one to leave your child with, feel free to take him with you.

The staff of the institution will take care not only of safety, but also of entertainment for a child of any age.

Rooms

1 of 9

The hotel has three three-story buildings: The Cabanas, Tropicale and The Lagoon. They look quite family-like, and losing a baby here is quite difficult. The territory is large, with green spaces and looks picturesque. The location a little further from the embankment gives silence in the apartments, no one walks under the windows, and nothing will interrupt the daytime sleep of the baby.

For families with children, Centara Karon Resort provides special family family rooms Deluxe (in The Lagoon building), usually with 2 large beds.

The apartments are very spacious, the child has a place to play, and the room offers a beautiful view of the territory of the hotel itself and the city of Karon.

Family rooms, most of which are located on the 3rd floor, are worth booking if you infant. The balconies overlook the ends of the building, so during the day the noise of the kids swimming in the pool is almost inaudible.

The rooms have cable TV and air conditioning, bathroom with shower, hairdryer, safe, refrigerator. Rooms are cleaned daily, bed linen is changed every 2 days, but for a small surcharge of 100 baht, the maid will do it every day. Shower accessories are available in any apartment: soap, gel, balm, bathing cap, shampoo.

Breakfasts here are quite varied in the form of a buffet, and the dishes that are served are mostly suitable for a child.

When entering the dining room, you should check in, after which the staff will show you to your table. It is better to come no later than 8-9 in the morning, so as not to wait until the tables are free. The menu will suit the most demanding young gourmet. It usually includes:

  • bakery;
  • fruits and juices;
  • eggs in any form;
  • exotic Thai dishes;
  • maple syrup;
  • condensed milk;
  • raisin;
  • cucumbers and tomatoes;
  • nuts;
  • cheeses.

There is no special children's menu, but on demand they will bring you oatmeal, muesli, pancakes, pancakes - in a word, everything that your child eats at home.

Spices in breakfasts are also not abused.

You will have to have lunch and dinner outside the hotel, but there are enough cafes and restaurants for every taste: with Thai, European and local cuisine.

You can buy delicious ice cream in the pool near the Laguna building.

Staff

There are Russian-speaking staff at the reception who will easily explain to you or your child.

Service standards are quite high: after arrival, guests are settled in the room in just 5 minutes. All employees are very friendly, they understand English and even sign language.

In Centara Karon Resort there are 3 special children's pools with a shallow depth, with slides and tunnels, where your baby will always be under close supervision.

Children are also allowed in the jacuzzi at no extra charge. All sunbeds around the pools are free.

As with most hotels in Phuket, the institution has children's animation: the show starts every day from 20.00 to 21.00. More for little guests, constantly from 19.30, either a children's disco or a clown show is organized: photos from there are simply unforgettable.

If you want to spend time without a child, it is possible to leave him to a nanny, and a mini-club awaits older children (open from 9.00 to 18.00, the first 3 hours the child is free).

Along the beach there are many beautiful playgrounds. When you get tired of the hotel, go on excursions with Russian speaking guides in Khao Lak, where children will enjoy riding elephants, a local zoo, to the Phi Phi Islands. Everywhere it is allowed to make a video for memory.

Another local highlight for little travelers is the dolphin show.

Beach

Karon Beach is located very close to the hotel: it takes only 7-10 minutes to walk to it at a slow pace.

This is very convenient for moms and dads with very young kids, especially if there is no stroller.

The sea is very warm and clean, with a comfortable descent. However, it is worth considering that there are quite strong waves here, so with a child it is better not to go deeper than knee-deep, and be sure to hold it.

Most likely, in 2019 there will be no sunbeds here, but you can immediately buy or rent a large beach umbrella to protect from the sun. Sun loungers are also provided for a fee (about 150 baht), but towels are provided free of charge.
