Thailand solo travel. solo trip to thailand

Thailand is a country of eternal summer that attracts millions of tourists from all over the world. And if for the first time you decided to go to Thailand on your own, then in this article I will tell you how to organize a trip and what services they use to book flights, hotels, houses and other things. experienced travelers. And having made your first independent trip to Thailand, you will understand how simple everything really is and you will no longer want to use the services of travel agencies.

The territory of Thailand is quite large and there are many various resorts. And before you start planning a trip, it is important to understand what you want to get from your vacation. One needs clean white sandy beaches, another - parties until the morning, the third is interested in the culture of Thailand and visiting ancient places, the fourth wants to see the beauty underwater world, and the fifth is to spend time away from civilization alone with nature. Depending on your desires, you should choose a city or an island. I already wrote about this in detail in the article. I have described the most popular resorts and solitary places, what advantages and disadvantages they have.

When is the best time to go?

Flights

After you decide where and when you want to fly, you should buy air tickets. It is best to buy them in advance one or two months before departure, so it will be cheaper. If you know exactly when you want to go back, then take two round trip tickets at once, so you can save on the flight.

Aeroflot and Thai Airway operate direct flights from Moscow to Bangkok. The flight lasts 9 hours. Other airlines fly to Bangkok with a transfer.

You can buy a ticket on the Aviasales website or use this convenient search form.

Visa

Russians do not need a visa to visit Thailand for 30 days. If you want to stay in the kingdom for more than 30 days, then you need to make a visa in advance. The easiest way is to open a one-time tourist visa for 60 days, which can be extended on the spot for another 30 days.

If you are flying to Thailand for a period of no more than 30 days without a visa, then you must present a return ticket to receive a stamp, otherwise you may not be allowed into the country.

I talked about obtaining a visa in more detail in the article.

Insurance

To obtain a visa to Thailand, you do not need travel insurance, but anyway, I strongly recommend purchasing it, since medicine in Thailand is very expensive for foreigners. For example, my friend broke her leg and had to pay 100,000 baht ($3,000) to have her put in a cast. Therefore, do not take risks, it is better to arrange travel insurance for Thailand in advance. I wrote more about what insurances are, which one to choose, how much it costs in an article about. She also shared her experience of medical insurance abroad.

What currency to take with you?

Thailand only accepts Thai baht, so you'll have to change money anyway. If you are going to Thailand for a long time, it is best to take a small amount of cash dollars for the first days, and put the rest of the money on a bank card. Keep money on the card in the currency in which you receive income, since it makes no sense to change, for example, Russian rubles for dollars and put them on the card, you will still have a double conversion. When withdrawing money from a Thai ATM, you will be charged a commission of 180 baht. Read more about what currency to take to Thailand, how to withdraw money from bank card, read .

Also, it will not be superfluous to calculate in advance how much money to take with you. To do this, I wrote an article where I painted the prices for rental housing, meals, transport, excursions and mobile communication. After reading this article, you can calculate how much money you need for a trip to Thailand.

What things to take with you?

When planning a trip to Thailand, it is important to pack everything you need, but do not overload your suitcase. Recently, I often fly to Thailand and made a list of the most necessary things for myself. It is very convenient when such a checklist is in front of your eyes, then there is less chance that you will forget something. You can get acquainted with my list of necessary things.

Rental of property

It is also possible to book a house or apartment in Thailand in advance. This is especially true when you fly to Thailand on your own during the peak season (December-February). You can rent excellent apartments in advance on the Airbnb website, housing from the owners is presented there. Therefore, you do not need to pay an additional agent, on the site you will only communicate with the owner. And the Airbnb website also provides a nice bonus - $ 20 for the first booking, which you will receive after registration.

Transport

Thailand has a fairly well-developed public transport system. You can get from one city of the country to another on a comfortable air-conditioned bus. In the cities ply public buses, tuk-tuks and taxis. However, enjoy all the time public transport long time not convenient. It is much better to rent a car or bike. In Thailand, this is quite easy to do. The cost of the car will be about 1500 baht ($30) per day, the bike - 200 baht ($6) per day. You can rent for a month, it will be cheaper. In detail, I wrote about how to rent a car, but read about renting a bike.

A trip to Thailand on your own will definitely become a bright and memorable event in your life, you just need to properly tune in and prepare, and we will help you with this! This article contains everything you need to know when going to the land of smiles on your own: how to get cheap, when to go, which cities and resorts to choose, how to rent a house and much more. All information is up-to-date and verified personally, because in this moment We live and travel in Thailand.

So let's go!

Visa to Thailand

The first thing to think about when going to Thailand on your own is a visa. Fortunately, for trips within one month it is not needed (for citizens of the Russian Federation), and upon arrival / arrival you will simply be stamped for 30 days in your passport indicating the date by which date you need to leave the country. If you have planned a trip to Thailand for more than a month, then you will need a visa, which can be done either at home, in Russia, or in a country neighboring Thailand.

All detailed and up-to-date information on visas (with important changes November 2015) can be found here:

There is one more nuance: you may be required to return flights or air tickets to a third country when departing from Russia or already at the airport in Thailand, as this serves as proof of your departure. The date of departure must be within 30 days of the validity of the stamp. Everyone has a different experience: we were never asked, and some had problems. Therefore, it is better to have such a ticket - after all, you will return or fly further to other countries.

Or, if there are no plans yet and there is only one way ticket, you can:

  • - buy cheap ticket on sale at Air Asia, and then hand it over, losing some of the money. .
  • — make a reservation on agent.ru without payment, and then cancel it
  • - make a fake ticket (here at your own peril and risk, I have always used legal methods).

You can read more about all the methods and nuances in the post.

Let's move on to the second point.

Flights to Thailand

The most significant part of the cost is to fly in and fly back. Buying cheap flights is, in its way, an art! Now, with the growth of the exchange rate, the prices for flights have also grown, so it is worth monitoring the situation six months before departure, and as soon as cheap options appear, take it right away. It is more profitable to take round-trip tickets at once than one-way tickets.

The easiest way to get to Thailand, of course, is from Moscow, as well as Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk and Far East There are direct flights from there. For Moscow, the option with a transfer in the Gulf countries is often cheaper, in addition, local airlines often arrange sales.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

As an option, catch a sale from Moscow to Hong Kong, China and other Asian countries and from there buy a cheap ticket for a low-cost airline. It will not be superfluous to subscribe to the newsletter of S7 and Aeroflot airlines, so you will be the first to know about the sale that has begun. Or you can try to fly on a charter with package tourists - there are a lot of options.

Where to look for cheap flights? We use search engines to search for tickets, and since they compare hundreds of options and airlines at once, it’s very convenient! Each of them has its own chips and features. If you don’t know how to use them, then here is our detailed one. It will help you find and buy a cheap air ticket.

When to go to Thailand?

I think that seasonality is not so important for winterers, because in Thailand it is warm and good all year round, but for those who came to short term, every fine day counts. It all depends on the place you have chosen, because the country is stretched from south to north, and the weather is different everywhere.

Thailand has only 3 seasons:

Rain season lasts from June to October on the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi), from November to January in the Gulf of Thailand (Koh Samui, Phangan, Tao) and in September-October in Pattaya. It will not necessarily rain at this time, they are mostly night or short. Although in November it rained on Koh Samui for several days in a row, which caused some inconvenience.

hot season lasts from March to May, when daily temperatures reach 35-40 degrees, and it rarely rains.

The rainy season and the hot season are considered "low" - at this time there are few tourists, but there is a lot of fruit, and prices for everything fall.

Maenam beach on Koh Samui. And in the rainy season it is sunny!

"Cool" season is considered high when the largest number of tourists come to the country, respectively, higher prices for everything. It is not so hot anymore (27-30 degrees), and there is little rain. In the north of Thailand it can be generally +15 degrees at night, and even lower in the mountains!

You can read more about it here. In short, I can say that from November to March you can safely go to the north of the country, to Pattaya and the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand, to Phuket, Krabi and andaman coast. And on Koh Samui, Phangan, Tao, on the contrary, it is better to go from March to October.

Which resort to choose?

This is a rather voluminous question, to which we have a separate article: Now let's summarize:

For active adventures you should go:

For historical heritage:

Housing in Thailand

Planning an independent trip to Thailand will not do without booking accommodation. If you are traveling to high season in November-February, we recommend booking accommodation in advance - you can also find it on the spot, because there are a lot of options throughout the country, but best places in terms of price-quality ratio, they will probably already be dismantled.

On the islands, prices for hotels and guesthouses will be higher than, for example, in the north of the country in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Checking the reviews of other travelers who have already lived in the place you like is the surest way to find out about accommodation.

We mainly use the site for booking hotels in Thailand and in other countries - here you can find both the most budget accommodation and various options according to your individual criteria. In Chiang Mai you can find decent rooms for 250 baht (for two) with breakfast, and in Pattaya, Phuket and Koh Samui - for 400 baht.

Transport in Thailand

When planning a trip to Thailand on your own, you should carefully study the transport within the country. Fortunately, the infrastructure in the country of smiles is quite well developed - many cities and resorts can be reached by plane, bus, train, ferry.

Air travel cheap across the country, thanks to low-cost airlines, such as Air Asia - you can fly cheaper than by bus if you buy tickets on sale. flights between popular cities and there are many resorts, you can choose a convenient time.

It will surely become a new interesting experience for you! We ourselves adore this way of traveling and prefer it to airplanes, because you can see so many unusual things from the window. There are several railway lines in the country, including those to neighboring countries: Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia.

Train in Thailand

Buses are the best in terms of price-quality ratio! The network is very developed, the schedule is convenient, and the buses themselves are quite comfortable. bus service arranged so that there are many private companies competing with each other. Thanks to this, at a relatively low price, very comfortable conditions await you. On long haul flights double-decker buses with a dry closet inside, "stewardesses", give out water, nuts and other snacks, sometimes even dinner is included in the price.

There are several classes for the same direction, and the price will differ accordingly: VIP, Gold, 1st class, 2nd class. They differ in the number of seats in the cabin and the distance between the seats. The buses are cold - bring a sweater with you!

Sea transport represented by various ferries, boats. By ferry you can get to such islands as Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Phi Phi, Lan, Samet and others.

Learned information about how to fly cheap to thailand. We will tell you how much a ticket to Thailand costs, when it is better to buy it and how to get to Thailand on your own without spending a lot of money.

The article is written primarily for travelers who plan to fly to Thailand on their own, and not go on a tour. It will be useful both for those traveling one way and for those who are interested in round-trip tickets.

Let's start!

To search and compare prices, we personally use flight search engines - Aviasales and Skyscanner. They are enough to find the most low prices tickets to Thailand, in addition, both sites have convenient functionality that facilitates the search (price calendars, ticket price statistics, etc.)

  1. Where is the cheapest place to fly?
  2. Overview / pricing examples
  3. Life hacks and tips for finding tickets

    • Tours and tours

1. Where to fly the cheapest

Direct flights from Russia to Thailand are carried out only in two directions - to Bangkok and Phuket. It is to these cities that it is cheapest to fly - both direct flights and flights with transfers.

Airplanes fly to Bangkok more often and, as a rule, tickets are cheaper. Phuket, in general, is more expensive to get to, but there are often options for flights with the approximate same price as to Bangkok.

What if I want to go to another resort?

Some Thai resorts can be reached by purchasing a separate ticket for domestic flight- so you can fly to Koh Samui, Krabi, etc.

Other cities can be reached by land (for example, a transfer from Bangkok to Pattaya takes only 2 hours).

2. The cost of tickets to Thailand from Moscow and St. Petersburg

The cheapest tickets to Bangkok usually fall on January-May, and to Phuket - from February to June.

2.1 Direct flights

Direct flights between Moscow and Phuket are operated by Aeroflot, Azur Air and Nordwind Airlines, and in Bangkok - only Aeroflot and THAI Airways.

At the same time, it is unlikely that it will be possible to fly to Thailand inexpensively: direct flights are usually 20-30% more expensive than flights with transfers.

From Moscow to Bangkok

Prices for flights from Moscow to Bangkok start at 24,500 rubles, but most options start from 26,000-27,000 rubles.

From Moscow to Phuket

Tickets for direct flights to Phuket cost at least 29,000 rubles.

From Saint-Petersburg

It is impossible to fly to Thailand on a cheap direct flight from St. Petersburg: tickets to Bangkok cost from 40,000 rubles and, in general, appear on sale infrequently. Prices for a flight to Phuket start at 56,000 rubles.

2.2 Flights with transfers

For those who are looking for a cheap way to get to Thailand, the best option would be a flight with transfers. This is how most airlines fly, and finding such tickets is easier.

The following companies fly with transfers:

  • Qatar Airways - with a transfer in Doha (Qatar);
  • Etihad - change in Abu Dhabi (UAE)
  • Emirates and Flydubai - fly through Dubai (UAE)
  • China Southern - via Guangzhou (China)
  • Turkish Airlines - with a transfer in Istanbul (Türkiye)
  • Finnair - Helsinki (Finland)
  • and some others

When choosing flights, pay attention to the duration of the transfer: sometimes you come across good-priced tickets, but with a travel time of 35-40 hours.

From Moscow

The cost of a flight from Moscow starts from 20,900 rubles, but the duration of the flight is not the most convenient (16-30 hours). At a price of 22,800 rubles, you can find options with a flight to Bangkok in 13-15 hours. Flying to Phuket will be 1000-2000 rubles more expensive.

From Petersburg

Tickets from St. Petersburg to Bangkok with transfers cost from 24,500 rubles, but for such a price, the flight time will be 18-20 hours or more. Prices for short flights start from 27,000-28,000 rubles.

You can find even cheaper tickets to Phuket (from 22,000 rubles), but good options cost about the same as to Bangkok.

For a more visual search for cheap flights, use the calendar:

  1. Look for tickets in advance- it is advisable to buy them 2-3 months before departure, and the search can be started even earlier. The closer to departure, the higher the price.
  2. Experiment with departure dates: a ticket for neighboring dates can sometimes be one and a half times cheaper.
  3. View airline promotions- they jump there good propositions. You can see them.
  4. Check tickets to other locations– cities in Thailand or nearby countries. An alternative option is to watch tickets not from your city (even if there is an airport there), but from a nearby larger one (for the central part of Russia - from Moscow and St. Petersburg, for the regions - from Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, etc.). S7 Airlines has direct flights to Thailand from many cities in Siberia and the Far East.
  5. Keep track of ticket prices on the desired dates or range of dates through the aviasales service - as soon as the price drops, a notification about this will be sent to your mail. It is relevant if you started searching in advance and are ready to wait some time with the purchase.

A few nuances worth paying attention to:

  • a round-trip ticket usually costs 30-40% less than separate round-trip tickets
  • if you still decide to fly to Thailand with one ticket and return with another, remember that without a return ticket, Thai border guards may simply not let you into the country
  • airfare is usually higher when in Thailand tourist season- that is, in late autumn and winter
  • tickets for New Year's dates are always the most expensive of the year

3.1 Tickets through a third country

Sometimes you can fly to Thailand cheaper if you look for tickets through a third country - for example, Malaysia or Vietnam. The method often works for one-way tickets, but sometimes there are good round-trip options.

Low prices for tickets to a third country may be associated with the seasonality of holidays in it or with airline promotions for certain flight destinations.

In this case, you can fly cheaply, for example, to Kuala Lumpur, and from there take cheap tickets to Phuket through a low-cost airline. In total, such a flight can be cheaper than a direct ticket to Phuket.

In our experience, low-cost flights are easier to find on Skyscanner, but there are also options on Aviasales.

Where to look for flights:

  • Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam)
  • Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
  • Hong Kong
  • Singapore

The last time we saved money in this way: we flew to the north of Thailand and the flight to Bangkok cost more (22,000 rubles) than a ticket to Hong Kong (14,000 rubles) + a ticket from Hong Kong to Chiang Mai (6,000 rubles). In addition, we had the opportunity to see Hong Kong.

3.2 Tours and packages instead of tickets

Another tricky way to fly to Thailand cheaply is to buy not an air ticket, but a ready-made tour in the desired direction. Sometimes the cost of a ticket (especially a last minute one) can be significantly lower than the price of a ticket for a regular flight. There are times when a ticket is cheaper than a one-way ticket.

Tips and helpful information for those planning independent trip to Thailand. When to go, how to find cheap flights and hotels, visa, price overview in 2019, low-cost airlines and transport rentals, money and ATMs.

All information is current as of 2019 and is based on personal experience independent trips to Thailand.

Exchange rate: 1 Thai baht (THB) ≈ 2 RUB.

Flights to Thailand

Air travel from Russia to Thailand eats up most of the budget of an independent traveler. Tickets for a flight with transfers to Bangkok and Phuket - from 25 thousand rubles, tickets for direct flights are more expensive - 30-50 thousand rubles.

Here helpful tips for buying tickets:

Tours can be used instead of a one-way flight. Consider for yourself: a standard ticket without transfers from Moscow to Phuket costs about 40 thousand for one person, and a tour - from 60 thousand for two. At the same time, you still get everything that is included in the ticket: hotel, meals, transfer, insurance. Isn't it a cool way?

Hot tours search on services and - they will find best deals among different tour operators. Want to save? Explore ours.

Thai visa

Russians can enter Thailand without a visa - upon arrival, a stamp is placed for 30 days.

If you are going to rest in Thailand for a long time, then:

  1. Apply for a visa in advance in Russia(independently or through an agency).
  2. Get a Thai Visa at neighboring countries . For example, it's easy to get a visa in Laos and Malaysia in 1 day. You can get a visa in another Asian country and go to Thailand, or you can fly directly to Thailand, get a stamp for a month and only then go abroad to get a visa.

About border wounds. Previously, people lived in Thailand for years without obtaining a visa: they traveled once a month to another country and returned the same day back. However, since the summer of 2014, the authorities have tightened their migration policy so that tourists can get visas. Now malicious border runners may not be allowed into the country.

On the border. When you go through passport control, keep a printout of your return ticket or a ticket to a third country on hand (it is also possible in electronic form). According to reviews, it is desirable to have a cash amount of at least 20,000 baht per person. Money is rarely checked, mostly from border ranchers in order to receive a bribe. We were never asked for a ticket and money, but it’s better to play it safe at least with a ticket.

Prices in Thailand - 2019

Due to the crisis, Thailand is no longer cheap country for accommodation and independent travel. Local prices now you need to multiply by almost two to convert to rubles. However, you can still live in it on a fairly budget, if you try.

Prices vary by resort. To give you an idea of the prices in Thailand, here are the main ones:

We go to Southeast Asia primarily for tropical fruits - they are tasty and cheap there. We have created a guide with prices, names and photos.

Housing in Thailand

If you have planned an independent trip to Thailand, you need to responsibly approach the issue of housing. To live in good hotel at a low price, and even in the high season, you need to book a few months in advance. This is optional during the low season. Are you traveling for a long time? Then book a hotel for the first days, and look for accommodation on the spot.

When is the best time to go to Thailand?

The question of when it is better to relax in Thailand is more of a concern for package tourists than independent travelers. Usually people go to Thailand on their own for a long time (at least for a month), so it is not so important for travelers how often it rains. On the contrary, the rainy season is a wonderful time: an abundance of fruits, prices are low, there are few tourists, the most beautiful sunsets. Nevertheless, before the trip, read about the peculiarities of the weather in Thailand, so as not to die from the heat and smog in or not to meet New Year on Koh Samui in the pouring rain.

Thailand is crowded with tourists in winter and spring. This is the high season, the weather is dry and clear. The rainy season begins in May and lasts until November.

Where is the best place to relax in Thailand?

In Thailand we lived in Bangkok, Krabi, Pattaya and Phuket. Of these four places, the best, of course, is Phuket. Most tourists are limited only to Pattaya and Phuket. We want to gradually travel all over the country.

Bangkok- for lovers of cultural and sightseeing leisure. Interesting international city.

Phuket- classic beach resort. Great beaches, pure water, many natural and cultural attractions.

Pattaya contradictory: Russians go there with their children for a measured beach and sightseeing vacation, and the rest - for night adventures. The beaches and the sea in the resort are bad.

Tourists speak favorably of the islands Koh Samui, Chang And Koh Phangan- there are much fewer tourists than in popular resorts, and beautiful nature. However, the infrastructure is not well developed.

In the province Krabi gorgeous cliffs and a nice beach. There are no package tourists here. IN Hua Hin the beaches are so-so, but the city attracts with its dissimilarity to other cities: it is neat, well-groomed and Europeanized.

On Phuket we lived three times and explored the island the best. Here are some helpful articles about it:

Low-cost airlines in Thailand: budget airlines

Thanks to low-cost airlines, you can independently travel within Thailand and to other countries South-East Asia convenient, simple and affordable. Often a flight is cheaper than a bus ride - tickets cost 10-30 dollars.

Vehicle rental in Thailand

Without renting a bike or a car in Thailand, it’s hard: you have to spend a lot of money on a taxi or excursions to see all the beauties. And you can rent a car very cheaply! Common price- 200-250 baht per day + deposit and passport.

Personal experience. In Phuket, we rented a bike on the site for 250 baht per day, while the owner does not ask for a passport as a pledge. In Pattaya, they rented a cool Kawasaki chopper for only 200 baht per day and also without a passport! True, he is already a little tired and shabby, but he is a chopper. The rental point is called Tom Pattaya bike and car for rent (tel. 081 356 4906).

There are many bike rental points in the resorts, but renting a car is more difficult. You can rent a car on the Skyscanner Car Hire website from 700 baht per day (in Phuket).

What is worth knowing:

  • The movement is left-handed and chaotic.
  • Need a driver's license.
  • Do not pledge your passport.
  • A photo of all the scratches on the bike is a must.
  • Helmet and insurance are a must.
  • Red and white markings - parking is prohibited.

We rented a chopper in Pattaya for only 200 baht per day.

Money and ATMs

Take money in euros or dollars. There are many exchange offices and banks at the resorts, the exchange rate is adequate. At ATMs, the commission is 200 baht + the commission of the issuing bank.

What can you advise to those who decide to go on an independent trip to Thailand? Here are some recommendations based on our experience:

  • Book hotels in season in advance in order to have time to find a good option on a ratio "price - quality".
  • Make sure the hotel has mosquito nets on the windows. Use repellents and other mosquito repellents.
  • You can’t hide from nosy ants in Thailand, as in all of Asia - don’t leave crumbs (especially sweet ones) and fruits, throw out the trash right away.
  • For the sake of safety and peace of mind, we advise you to take out insurance.
  • Read in advance about how to get from the airport to the city, so as not to overpay.
  • Big C and Tesco Lotus supermarkets have discounts on perishable products after 6pm and 7pm.
  • In Big C, you can ask to cook purchased seafood for free.
  • Drinking water can be bought in special vending machines (1 liter - 1 baht).
  • If you have a long flight or transfer in an air-conditioned bus, have a jacket. The air conditioners are on full blast and it's very easy to catch a cold.

1) There is no such country as Thailand! The country is called Thailand!

2) What currency to bring to Thailand?

The country's currency is the Thai baht. Stable regional currency. Widely used in Laos, partly in Cambodia and in the border states of Myanmar. Nobody needs dollars, euros, and even more so rubles, they are not accepted for payment - you will still change in exchangers - it is better to do this not on the street, but in bank branches: there is an exchange in any, but there are no queues and rudeness. It is better to change large amounts from 10,000 USD in trusted Chinese exchangers - ask the old-timers. Take a dollar card and withdraw baht from it, or a ruble card if there is no dollar one. For insurance (if your cash is stolen), you can get a credit card, the best from Alfa and

3) If you see a smart image of a man on calendars inside houses, on framed portraits, on billboards or anywhere else, it is almost certainly the King. If the image is a woman - this is the Queen. Thais idolize the royal family. The king really did a lot for the people. (Addition: Bhumibol Adulyadej - King of Thailand, died on October 13, 2016)

>>Last-minute tours to Thailand from 11 200 r – public shock-tariffs vkontakte

4) Don't joke about the King even in Russian. For insulting the Royals there is a punishment, up to and including prison. For the same reason, you should not throw money, burn it, tear it or step on it with your foot. On each banknote and coin is the image of the King.

5) Thais are extremely tolerant. Tourists will be forgiven for any ridiculous appearance, perfidious violation of local customs, petty offenses. But this does not mean that it is worth acting like the last pig, getting drunk to a squeal, or walking around the city center in the same swimming trunks.

6) Thais don't know how to say the word "no". Therefore, if in some question you cannot get an answer for a long time, then you just need to back off: ask another Thai in another place or abandon the original idea.

7) All the beaches of the country belong to the King. And they are allowed for free use by all local residents and guests of the country without exception. This means that by coastline you can move freely, lie free on your bedding anywhere, even if there is a five-star hotel opposite, usually the private territory of such hotels is fenced off with a decorative fence or other obvious elements.

There are no private beaches in the country. No one has the right to charge any fee for using the beach. The exception is the territories national parks for which a fee is charged.

8) Everything is fine with aviation in the country. There are large low-cost airlines, the most famous are: Nok Air and Thai Smile. Traditional airlines: and. And regional airlines, such as Kan Air and R airlines, the existence of which even locals hardly guess. There are airports in the capital of each province and in others. major cities and tourist centers.

Tickets are available to everyone. the average price for a flight within the country is 1000 baht. On sales you can take it for 300 baht. For some holidays and destinations, prices can reach up to 5,000 baht. The difference in prices between traditional and low-cost airlines is insignificant, especially if you take into account luggage and other costs (for example), sometimes low-cost airlines have higher prices!

Tickets from Moscow in both directions cost from 20,000 rubles ()

9) There are two airports in Bangkok. Bangkok Airlines also fly from the first (Suvarnabhumi) - this is a major international terminal, the subway goes to it.

From the second (Dong Muang) low cost and nok air. There is a free shuttle between airports. It is better to take a taxi from the city to it. Airports are located at different ends of the city, but are connected by toll highways

10) The bus network covers everything settlements. For long distances, comfortable buses with air conditioning, comfortable sleeping chairs and toilets operate. There are buses with individual multimedia entertainment systems or a massager in the back of the seat. As a rule, all routes lead to Bangkok. There are few direct buses between tourist centers. A variety of transport operates on regional routes: buses with air conditioning and regular seats, buses without air conditioning, minibuses, songthaews (a pickup truck with a closed passenger body).

Unfortunately, according to one of the statistics, the number of accidents on the roads holds the first place in the world. It is advisable to wear seat belts in buses, there are times when they fly off the road.

11) There are rare strange cases loss of luggage or individual items from luggage. It is better to travel only on official buses, tickets for which are bought at the bus station at the box office. This will provide you with a guarantee of safety and responsibility for the loss or theft of luggage.

IN tourist areas offer tickets for illegal charter buses. They are often cheaper. This is compensated by inconvenient transfers or the imposition of excursions or hotels upon arrival. These buses can arrive in places remote from the city, getting out of there is not easy. And it is in these buses that cases of theft occur.

12) We were less lucky with trains. If memory serves, only five branches. To the north to Chiang May, to the south to Malaysia and further to Singapore, to Laos, to Cambodia, and so all sorts of offshoots and cores. Trains are running late. on a 12-hour route, they may be late by 6-9 hours. There was a case when a train derailed in the same place 6 times in 2 weeks. After a major overhaul for the opening of this section, the train derailed again along with the Minister of Transport.

13) Bangkok is a name for foreigners. The Thais call the city Krungthep. Plan to stop in Bangkok for at least 2 days, except royal palace and Wat Aruna is still there, even alien sectarians!

14) Farang is a name for a foreigner. Contrary to popular belief, it is not offensive. Applies to persons of European appearance.

15) Thais are terrible nationalists. Foreigners will never be put on the same level with themselves, but this does not mean that they will put themselves higher - no, just as if on the sidelines. Europeans are treated well, in wild places they even idolize. Hindus, Chinese and blacks do not like.

16) In matters of sexual orientation, absolute tolerance. In this country, everyone can define themselves to any gender according to their feelings, regardless of the presence of body parts or, for example, clothing. The classification of possible varieties is very extensive and one cannot understand it without a hundred grams.

17) Contrary to popular misconceptions, outside the tourist zones of debauchery, the country is extremely puritanical. After drawing a picture with a breast on the federal channel, without any hint of erotica, a huge scandal erupted.

There are no sex shops in the country and all such products are illegal. If you are lucky, a foreigner can order a parcel from abroad or use the black market.

18) There is a death penalty for drugs in the country. A tourist can be fined and deported for drinking, but most likely they will extort a bribe. There are round-ups in nightclubs and places with a bad reputation.

19) There is no presumption of innocence in the country. That is, you will have to prove that you did not commit illegal acts.

Until now, martial law is in effect, giving the military and police almost unlimited power.

In practice, everything is so scary. Foreigners are only of interest to officers from the migration service, and even then only at the time of crossing the border or during visits to the office for those who live in the country. Tourists are of no interest to anyone in principle.

20) Tips are not accepted in Thai places. In completely wild places, they won’t even understand why you left the money. IN tourist places you can leave a tip, but if you don't, no one will be offended.

21) The rainy season is an amorphous concept. In different places of the country it is at different times.

Rain does not interfere in any way, usually it does not last more than an hour a day and mostly at night. You can and should go to Thailand at any time. Especially in the off-season summer, a trip can become several times cheaper, but not a bit worse.

22) It's always hot in Thailand. With the exception of the far north in winter time. However, you will definitely need one warm thing. There is an eerie glacier in airplanes, buses, cinemas and shopping malls. Always take a warm thing in such places.

23) If in Bangkok they tell you that some place is closed and there is a holiday there today, don't believe it. This is the main wiring. You will be offered an alternative tour with a stop in the shops.

For the same reason, you should not travel in Bangkok by tuk-tuk. You are almost guaranteed to be taken to a store whose owner issues gas coupons to the driver.

24) It is better to travel around Bangkok by taxi. No matter how strange it may sound, but if there are two or more of you, then the trip by metro will be more expensive than by taxi.

If you have the skill to make a serious face and poke your finger at the counter, then you will be taken at the official price. A trip within the aisles of 2-3 metro stations will cost 50-60 baht. A trip through the whole city if there are no traffic jams at 100-120 baht. My most expensive trip lasted 2 hours and 37 kilometers and cost 210 baht.

Taxis need to catch only that rides. A red light means it's free. If there is no light, then it is busy.

Guaranteed by the counter you can leave special stands at large shopping centers. The queue is sometimes 10-15 minutes long. At the hotel, it is better to ask the staff to arrange a taxi. Then, again, you are guaranteed to be taken by the counter.

In Chiang Mai the most available transport- song teo, here it looks like big red cars (you can't go wrong) - for 20 baht you will be taken in taxi mode around the city center, picking up other passengers along the way. Uber and Grab also launched in Chiang May.

Thailand is an ideal country for traveling with children. Thais adore children, and foreign children are so simply idolized. You will never be left in trouble and will be happy to look after your child anywhere.

You can often see that mothers take their children with them to work. To a massage parlor, hairdresser or shop. This is absolutely normal. Children do not interfere with anyone and children in Thailand can do anything.

38) Contrary to popular belief, not all Thai dishes are extremely spicy. There are a huge number of completely non-spicy dishes. Absolutely, absolutely.

A tourist has practically no chance to distinguish a spicy dish from a non-spicy one. The only way out is to order another dish, some kind of pancake. The food is still worth every penny.

39) In Thai, the stress is on the last syllable in a word. Foreign words (mostly the name) must also be pronounced with an accent on the last syllable, so you will be understood faster. I asked for a long time if there was a macro store in Krabi and they refused to understand me. But when I asked about the macro, they immediately told me the way to it. The same applies to popular stores 7-11 not seven, but sevEn

40) You can buy a SIM card at any 7-11. Often they are handed out for free right at the airport upon arrival. Travel packages are almost guaranteed to have instructions in Russian inside. Or buy for travel.

42) You are almost guaranteed not to contract malaria. Unless you roam the remote jungle for months. Although there is dengue fever (it exists even in space-modern Singapore), it is also carried by mosquitoes, there are no vaccinations and treatments for it, but no more people die than from the flu. There are more dangers in Russia.

43) Snakes, scorpions, centipedes - there are somewhere in the forests. Sometimes they can be seen from afar, but they are more afraid of you than you are of them.

44) Thais do not eat bugs, worms and locusts. This is entertainment for tourists and food for guest workers from Cambodia. Thais eat chicken and rice, sometimes pig. But cows are not held in high esteem, both with meat and with dairy products. Cheeses and sausages are a terrible delicacy.

45) There is a separate tourist police for tourists. Tolerably speaking English and helping to resolve any domestic conflicts, look for forgotten things and lost documents.

Sometimes foreign volunteers who are registered with the tourist police and who speak different languages are on duty at public events.

Use Thai directions (on business cards or in booklets) - AD. Scales are not observed on them, but simply indicated landmarks schematically in their own way.

47) Thailand has never been anyone's colony. Although certain areas of individual cities are currently practically occupied by foreigners.

48) In public places: in markets, parks, stadiums, railway stations at 7 and 8 o'clock in the morning, and at 5 and 6 o'clock in the evening the national anthem can be played. If all Thais stop or stand up, you should follow their example out of respect. Although you as a tourist do not have to do this. In the cinema, before the screening, they also play the anthem and show a film about the King.
