How long does it take to get to Nha Trang?
ways to get to the city or your hotel a bit:
Getting to Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet well known to tourists beautiful beaches attract more and more people. It is also popular with active lovers - in Phan Thiet you can go surfing, explore the underwater world.
Distance from Nha Trang airport to Phan Thiet: 243 km. The journey will take a little over four hours.
You can get to:
bus. If you chose to travel by bus, you will have to make two transfers. First you will take a bus to Ho Chi Minh City (it is important to know that there are buses until 12 noon), from there you can go directly to Phan Thiet. Let it take about 5 hours.
But on such a bus is worth a ride, believe me! Because it is equipped with beds, in English - sleep bass. In addition, there is air conditioning, a toilet and other conditions for a comfortable trip. A ticket for such a miracle bus costs 7 dollars.
- train. There is a morning train and an evening train from Na Trang to Phan Thiet. The cost is 16 dollars. When choosing a train, specify where it will stop. And remember that the train does not stop in the city itself, but 15 km from it. So you have to take a taxi.
- Taxi. This method will cost a tourist a lot - more than a hundred dollars. Many travelers do not recommend, because the traffic is the same, and you will have to pay dearly.
Vietnam is a country of sun, smiles and beautiful beaches. But as in any country, on its territory it is necessary to observe certain rules. What, you will be prompted by a memo issued at the airport of arrival. Besides:
- When going to Vietnam, get a Russian-Vietnamese phrasebook or, if you do not know English well - Russian-English;
- Better yet spend on a taxi with a fixed fee. It takes a very long time to get by public transport;
- Get medical insurance;
- Put in first aid kit remedies for diarrhea and ointment from insects;
- Drink only bottled water. Vietnam has bad water;
Important! Don't try to hitchhike. locals they rarely pick up fellow travelers, which means you will waste your time in vain.
- Exchange currency you can right in the airport building, there is an acceptable exchange rate.
Have a nice trip!

Phan Thiet is famous for its beautiful beaches and good surfing conditions. Some tourists vacationing in Nha Trang want to go to Phan Thiet to look at this city and the neighboring village of Mui Ne. In addition, there are tourists who fly to Nha Trang on their own, then to go to Phan Thiet.
But if you want to get from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet, spending as little money as possible, you can use the bus or train.
Bus Nha Trang - Phan Thiet
To get to Phan Thiet by bus, you need to take the bus going to Ho Chi Minh City. It is advisable to first find out if this bus goes through Phan Thiet. Remember that most buses to Ho Chi Minh City depart in the morning. How long does it take to get from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet by bus? As a rule, the duration of the trip is about 5 hours.
It is worth noting that a bus with berths, called "slip bus", runs to Ho Chi Minh City through Phan Thiet. The cost of a bus ticket Nha Trang - Phan Thiet is about 6 dollars. Even if you travel with four people, the bus fare will be about 4 times lower than the cost of a taxi ride.Trains Nha Trang - Phan Thiet
There are 2 trains daily from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet. The first train leaves at 08:35 and the second at 19:49. Fare starts at $13 (hard seat).
The morning train arrives in Phan Thiet at about 12:30, which means that you can spend a few hours in Phan Thiet and then go back to Nha Trang by evening bus or train.
In this post, I will talk about transport from Nha Trang to Mui Ne or Phan Thiet (it is located 5 kilometers away), about my experience of traveling on Vietnamese sleeperbuses (bus with a sleeper), and share information where to buy cheap tickets for this miracle (bus) .
I will also tell you about more comfortable ways to independently move from the resort capital of Vietnam to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. Sometimes it is much more profitable, and 1000 times more convenient, not to go by bus, but first things first.
If after reading you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. I will definitely answer your every question.
Distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne (to Phan Thiet), how long to go
The distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is displayed on this map, it shows the route of the trip. Google helpfully drew us two routes, one straight to Mui Ne, and the second through Dalat. If you have free time, be sure to check out this mountain town.
You can get to Dalat either on your own by bus, or buy a group tour (exact cost at the link). Read about the TOP Nha Trang tours in my detailed post.
Google maps says that the distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is a little more than 200 kilometers, in fact, there are about 250 kilometers. But all this is not so important if you are traveling by public transport, and not by motorcycle or moped. Some of my friends overcame this path on a moped, after which everyone was dissuaded from such a trip. :)
It is not so important that there are only 250 kilometers between Nha Trang and Phan Thiet, and it seems that it can be overcome in just 3 hours. In Vietnam, the bus will travel 250 kilometers in 6 hours. This is probably due to the speed limit on the roads, but you should also take into account the time for stops and a possible lunch break (approximately in the middle of the trip).
There is a railway connection between the indicated Vietnamese cities, but the train does not travel much faster, the fastest one will take you to Phan Thiet in 4 hours.
If you choose a taxi, you can get there in 3 hours, this is perhaps the fastest way, it is also the most expensive.
Transport between Nha Trang and Mui Ne, prices, travel time and comfort level
In this part of the post I will tell you about the main types of transport that you can use during independent travel between Nha Trang and Mui Ne.
Transport from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
View Price Travel time Bus (book in advance) up to 10$ 5 o'clock Train from 10$ 4 hours Transfer (taxi) from 100$ 3 hours Buses from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
The most convenient and cheapest way to get from the beaches of Nha Trang to the windsurfing mecca of Mui Ne is by bus. There is also a train service, but trains come to Phan Thiet (address of the railway station in Phan Thiet: ga Phan Thiết Phong Nẫm), which is five kilometers from the tourist village of Mui Ne. you need to understand first what locality you need.
Important! In high tourist season, tickets should be ordered in advance (at least a week in advance), there are a lot of people who want to leave, and there are a limited number of tickets and seats on the bus. If there are no free tickets for the date of interest, then try playing around with the dates.
Buying a bus ticket is very simple, here is a Russified site, where you can buy tickets for Vietnamese buses and trains. The prices are cheap, even with a small commission, but there is one trick, without knowing this one you can not find the tickets you need.
You should enter the names of cities in Latin, and this despite the fact that the site is completely Russified. If you enter the name of the cities in Russian, then the site will display a message: “We did not find anything similar,” but it’s worth typing in Latin and everything will be found right away.
- Nha Trang- this is Nha Trang;
- Phan Thiet - Phan Thiet;
- Mui Ne - Mui Ne;
- Dalat - Dalat.
The price of a ticket for a bus with berths along the Nha Trang Mui Ne route is approximately $10. This is the cheapest transport, cheaper only hitchhiking.
Pay attention to this photo, it has all the answers to your questions. For example, we select the point of departure Nha Trang Hanh Cafe, and the destination Mui Ne Hanh Cafe. This means that we are taking a bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne, and Hanh Cafe is the name of the bus company, so they will bring the bus to their office.
If the site did not work out, then go to any travel office in Nha Trang and say a simple phrase “to Mui Ne pliz, one ticket”. If you are too lazy to go anywhere, then in hotels and guesthouses tickets for local buses are ordered directly at the reception, the overpayment will be minimal.
Several bus offices were discovered in Nha Trang:
- The Sinh Tourist - website thesinhtourist.vn - location in Nha Trang at 90C Hung Vuong St.;
- Hanh Café - website hanhcafe.vn, located in Nha Trang at 10 Hung Vuong Street;
- Phuong Trang (or FUTABuslines) - website futabuslines.com.vn, located in Nha Trang at 7 Hoàng Hoa Thám.
Features of Vietnamese buses
Vietnam has its transport features, which you should get used to and do not resist, then your trip will be interesting and comfortable. Read this section of the post carefully, and you will have no questions left. In fact, local buses are a very convenient invention, especially sleeper basses. I try to move on them.
Sleeper bass or seated
When buying a bus ticket, you should take into account the features of the Vietnamese buses, namely what kind of seats it is equipped with (seated or sleeping).
- Sitting Bus (Sitting Bass) - a bus with seating that is common to all;
- Sleeping Bus (Sleeping Bass) is a very convenient invention of mankind with lying places, somewhat reminiscent of a railway carriage.
Bus departure point from Nha Trang
As a standard, the bus starts from the place where the office of the transport company is located, and not from the shop where the ticket was sold to you. In such cases, a transfer from the hotel to the bus itself can be arranged - this is standard for everyone resort towns almost all over the world, so Nha Trang has its own rules. But with the transfer there may be overlays, read about it further.
Any train, in any country in the world, is much more comfortable than buses. Vietnam has Railway, but local trains connect only major cities. Thus, the route from Nha Trang to Mui Ne will lie through Phan Thiet. In addition, before railway station should be taken by taxi or bus. This is the only minus of local trains.
The price of the trip will depend on the train, on the speed of its movement, on the class of the car (there are cars with improved comfort) and on the time of day. You should focus on $ 15 for a trip from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet. You can buy a ticket on the above site, in the photo you can see what the names of the stations look like.
There are trains going directly to Phan Thiet (Ga Phan Thiết station), such trains will bring you to the city center. You can use the passing train, they make a stop at the Ga Mương Mán station nearest to Phan Thiet.
The main thing here is to understand whether the selected train stops at an intermediate station, or follows it in transit. In this case, the city is 10 kilometers away, which can be overcome by bus, taxi, or hitchhiking.
Taxi from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
If you are used to comfort and value your time, then the best option there will be a taxi ride. Taxi in Vietnam is common, but the service is very expensive. The price of a prepaid trip (I recommend this option) from Nha Trang to Mui Ne will cost you about $ 100, if you take a car on the streets, you can save a little (the difference will be $ 10-15), or you can run into a swindler (this is not uncommon in Vietnam) .
Particular care should be taken in major cities and popular resorts. About how a local motorcycle taxi driver bred me, read the link.
If you order a taxi “from hand”, then you should look very carefully at the money that you give to the driver, and what he returns to you in the form of change (this is one of the crown taxi driver scams). Here I described the main tricks of taxi drivers with Vietnamese money, which the locals are willing to use against foreigners.
As I said earlier, taxi prices in Vietnam cannot be called low, even in comparison with Moscow and St. Petersburg. Local carriers charge for boarding, for dropping off, for waiting, for luggage, and God knows what else. Add to that the opportunity to be "warmed up" with surrender.
Considering all of the above, especially if the trip is long, then I recommend ordering a prepaid transfer (via the price link). In this case, you reduce the risk of payment to zero, since payment is made on the site. If the trip tripled you, then you can give the driver a tip, but he has no right to take any additional money from you.
If the trip is short, then you can take the car anywhere, but you should remember my warnings.
My experience of traveling by bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
The next morning at the appointed time, of course, there was no transfer, on hand was a receipt with payment and a phone number. I call from the reception at the specified number, they answer me that they say it is impossible to understand, I hand the phone to the hostess of the guesthouse.
After a calm conversation between the hostess of the guest house and the representative of the bus company (I think so), I understand that everything will be ok. I sit, I worry, I watch the outskirts of the Vietnamese resort town waking up. Five minutes later, a shabby minivan arrives with the same driver, we rush through the streets of Nha Trang on this trough as if we are trying to escape from napalm. Wow, looks like we did it.
When buying a ticket, no information about the class of the bus was reported, and it’s good that there wasn’t. In front of me is a brand new air-conditioned sleeper for 140,000 dong.
There are 3 longitudinal rows of reclining recumbent seats in the passenger compartment of the bus, but the chairs still do not fully fold out, but a small angle remains, so it cannot be called a true sleeper, but the thing is very convenient. The arrangement of the seat-beds is as follows: 2 rows on two sides at the windows of the bus, and one in the center, on the second tier as well.
There is a warm blanket and a pillow at each seat, the blanket was very useful, during the trip the air conditioner worked, so I asked the carrier to turn it off, no one was going to turn off the air conditioner, and I pulled another blanket from the next empty chair and the long-awaited happiness came. The sleeper bass bed is designed in such a way that you can put your things at your feet, my small 20 liter backpack fits perfectly there.
The bus belatedly sailed from Nha Trang and sailed through the expanses of Vietnam. Some people always admire Vietnamese views, even if only a garbage can is seen from the window, I will not argue that Vietnamese roads are very picturesque in places, but the road from Nha Trang to Mui Ne seemed insipid to me. First the industrial outskirts of Nha Trang, after the rice fields, then the villages and so on.
The route goes along the sea no more than 10% of the way, so it’s not very picturesque, specifying that Mui Ne is the end station of the bass, I fall asleep, but soon they wake me up and offer to use a 20-minute stop, which is very handy, if it’s three sleeper bass, but limbs are still swollen.
I consider an intermediate stop just for visiting the toilet, since the bus stop is not long and ordering food, and then hastily ramming it into yourself is a thankless task.
If I had known earlier that Mui Ne could be reached by sleeper, I would have traveled by night bus, and I would have saved the budget for the hotel and would have slept on the road.
Nha Trang is the capital of Khanh Hoa province. This province is located in the southern part of Vietnam (although it is administratively considered the central province).
Therefore, from Nha Trang, the closest and relatively fastest way to get to the southern cities.

Route Nha Trang - Phan Rang - Mui Ne - Phan Thiet
The simplest and short route from Nha Trang towards Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) is a trip from Nha Trang to Phan Rang or Mui Ne and Phan Thiet.
Nha Trang – Phan Rang
Phan Rang is a small town located about 100 km from Nha Trang. Tourists come to this city, first of all, for a beach holiday.
The city has several hotels that fully meet the needs of tourists.
Most interesting places- This central square with a historical museum and a monastery on a hill called Truc Lam Vien Ngo Zen.
Probably, a trip to the nearby salt fields with the city will be interesting. 400 hectares are reserved for salt mining.
The largest salt production is controlled by our compatriots.
Otherwise, there is nothing to do in Phan Rang except for the beach and walking. The main conditional advantage of Phan Rang over Nha Trang is relatively less rain and a calmer sea.
In fact, this is very conditional and not always the case. And given the fact that Phan Rang has fewer attractions compared to Nha Trang, for people prone to travel - Phan Rang is not the most the best place.
How to get to Phan Rang from Nha Trang
Bus. The easiest and cheapest way to get to Phan Rang is by public bus.
The cost is 3-4 USD. On the way about 3 hours. Buses depart from the station Ben xe phia Nam 58 duong 10/23, tp. Nha Trang.

Nha Trang – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet
For many compatriots, Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are inseparable points, but there is a difference between them.
Phan Thiet is a city that vaguely resembles Nha Trang, but simpler (more boring). Mui Ne is a district of Phan Thiet,
which is located 6 km from Phan Thiet. Mui Ne is a kind of village with one main street where all the restaurants, shops and hotels are located.
Why do they go to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne, and not to Nha Trang? The answer lies in the fact that in Mui Ne, compared to Nha Trang,
there are hotels on the first line of the sea. As you know, in Nha Trang, the beach is across the street from almost all hotels in the city.
Mui Ne also attracts by the fact that there are excellent conditions for different types of surfing. That is, there are good winds and waves for this sport.
But there is also a minus for hotels on the first line. Due to strong waves, most hotels have a concrete fence.
Very often, the sea comes under the very edge of this concrete fence, which is why the beach is not visible at all, and you immediately go down into the sea from this concrete fence.
The most interesting things to see nearby are Ta Ku mountain, sand dunes.

How to get to the Mekong Delta
After a stop in Ho Chi Minh City and sightseeing (link to), you can move to the Mekong Delta.
The Mekong Delta is a vast area in the South of Vietnam, which is penetrated by a network of canals and branches of the Mekong River.
The area is home to the bulk of the population and has the largest number of crops in Vietnam.
Tourists are not primarily interested in the entire delta, but only in the main cities from which they can go on a floating adventure along the Mekong. That's why,
The main cities you need to get to are listed below.
- Mitho (My Tho) - for day trips on the Mekong from Ho Chi Minh City
- Kanto (Can Tho) - for two or more day trips on the Mekong from Ho Chi Minh City
- Chau Doc - for boat trips down the Mekong to Cambodia.
- Ratzya (Rach Gia) - for a trip to Phu Quoc Island by ferry.
- Ha Tien - for a trip to the island of Phu Quoc by ferry, land trips to Cambodia in the cities of Kep (Kep) and Kampot (Kampot).
These cities themselves are practically of no interest in terms of sightseeing.
(perhaps with the exception of Kanto), but they are important as a starting point for starting all trips along the Mekong and overnight stays.
How to get to the cities of My Tho (MyTho), Kanto (Can Tho), Chau Doc (Chau Doc), Ratzya (Rach Gia) Ha Tien (Ha Tien from Ho Chi Minh City
Bus. The most optimal bus company for moving around the Mekong Delta is Phuong Trang (or FUTABuslines) - www.futabuslines.com.vn.
They provide very good service on their flights, with stops along the way at their own stations where the toilets are clean and you can buy decent food.
Most importantly their buses are of consistently good quality. You can buy tickets at the office on one of the main tourist streets 272 Pham Ngu Lao street.
Almost all routes to the main cities of the Mekong Delta lie through Mitho (My Tho).
It's like a border station, from which the roads diverge in different directions and all the cities of the Delta.
You need to take bus tickets in the direction Kanto (Can Tho) or Chau Doc (Chau Doc), or Rach Gia, or Ha Tien.
The cost for these destinations one way is 8-12 USD per person, travel time to the nearest city to Ho Chi Minh City My Tho is 3 hours,

to Phu Quoc Island by ferry rather than flying from Ho Chi Minh City. This will be discussed below.
You need to leave in the direction of the Mekong Delta and the indicated cities from Ho Chi Minh City from the western station (BenXeMienTay).
It is a bit far to drive from Pham Ngu Lao street (20-40 minutes) depending on traffic. The Phuong Trang bus company has a service -
free delivery to this station from the tourist area, where, most likely, you will buy tickets ( 272 PhamNguLaostreet).
If you need to get to the station on your own, then show the person who will take you the address of the station BenXeMienTay :
Train. For today and for the future, there are no planned railway routes along the Mekong Delta. The most south point Vietnam, which can be reached by train is Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

How to get to Phu Quoc Island (PhuQuoc)
Phu Quoc is a Vietnamese island, which is located at a distance of 60 km from mainland Vietnam.
Recently, this island has become popular with Russian tourists, thanks to its excellent beaches and comfortable weather all year round.
If you go from Nha Trang to Phu Quoc Island, then such a trip can be combined with a visit to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and / or the Mekong Delta, or combined with a trip to Cambodia.

with a possible stop for a day or two to inspect Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The cost of the flight is from 80 USD round trip per person.
So, the second starting point after Nha Trang to Phu Quoc is Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, having got from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City (see above), then we get to Phu Quoc in 2 main ways.
- Bus Ho Chi Minh - Ratja or bus Ho Chi Minh - Ha Tien. Then ferry to Phu Quoc Island from these cities.
- Plane Ho Chi Minh - Phu Quoc
Bus - ferry. The path to Phu Quoc lies through the Vietnamese cities of Rach Gia and Ha Tien, from where you can get ferry tickets to this island.
You need to leave in the direction and indicated cities from Ho Chi Minh City from the western station. It is a bit far to drive from Pham Ngu Lao street (20-40 minutes) depending on traffic.
The Phuong Trang bus company has a service - free delivery to this station from the tourist area, where, most likely, you will buy tickets ( 272 PhamNguLaostreet).
Price bus ticket to these cities 9-11 USD. On the way 6-7 hours.
If you have a need to get to the station on your own, then show the one who is lucky you the address of the station BenXeMienTay:
395 Kinh Dương Vương, An Lạc, Bình Tân, Hồ Chí Minh
Ferry to Phu Quoc Island from Rat Gia and Ha Tien
If you need to choose which of the indicated cities is better for you to get to then go to Phu Quoc,
This way is more comfortable than by bus to Ha Tien and from there by ferry to Phu Quoc. Although the ferry journey from Ratja to Fukuoka is almost twice as long (3 hours) than from Ha Tien to Fukuoka (1 hour 40 minutes).
Especially if you have intentions after Fukuoka to move to neighboring Cambodia, which is very close,
then it will be more convenient to do it through Ha Tien and further to the Cambodian city of Kep and / or Kampot bordering Vietnam (see the route below)
Ferry timetables and prices from Rat Gia and Ha Tien to Phu Quoc
Ferry Rach Gia<->Phu Quoc
The port address in Rat Gia from where ferries depart for Phu Quoc is: Nguyen Cong Tru st, Vinh Thanh ward, Rach Gia
Ferry Ha Tien(Ha Tien)<-> Phu Quoc(Phu Quoc)
Ferries to Phu Quoc leave from Ha Tien Port Address: So 1 Kim Dust, To Chauward, Tx.Ha Tien
But keep in mind that there are two ports in Ha Tien from where ferries depart for Phu Quoc. One for speedboats (you need it)
and the second for slow boats that can also carry vehicles (you are unlikely to need it).
To avoid confusion, just tell (better show) the person who will take you the name of one of the ferries listed in the table above (for example, superdong ).
Flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc. The fastest and most convenient way to get to Phu Quoc Island is by plane from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc Island Airport.
The cost of tickets in this direction fluctuates around 70-100 USD round trip.
Vietnam Airlines flights are the most reliable in terms of flight departures. Departures are daily, the schedule is below.

UPD. The article about holidays in Mui Ne was written a hundred years ago. Now I would not be so categorical. There are pluses: fresh seafood, low prices, beautiful nature, the sea (it is not always possible to swim, but it is there!). One day I will return to Mui Ne and rewrite the post, but for now, please do not be offended if the text caused you negative emotions. Vietnam is awesome!
***
I share my impressions, reviews, show photos and talk about what it really is popular resort Phan Thiet in the south of Vietnam and its “offspring” Mui Ne, which the people affectionately call “Mui Ne” - favorite place parties of kitesurfers and Russian package tourists.Prices for tours to Vietnam ↓
But first, a backstory. Wow, it's been so long since I've written a backstory! If you are interested practical information, you can go directly to right place in the article by clicking on the link:
***
Was there Vietnam in my life? Probably was, since in the old passport there is an entry stamp on a Vietnamese visa, bought for $ 77 in the center of Lao Vientiane. Me with 70 men to travel the country. With all my heart I wanted to travel from north to south in a month and see authentic villages, National parks And deserted beaches that I have read about. Now, when I love and am loved by a wonderful adequate person, it is difficult for me to understand the motives that moved me at that period of my life. What made me abandon the planned route in one night, buy two plane tickets with my own money and follow those who are not needed to noisy Mui Ne, where I did not want to at all?
Partly passion, which I wrote about earlier. But, to be completely honest, the driving force was the sudden fear of being alone and the self-doubt that was progressing at that time. It was in such a strange state that I found myself at night on the streets of the Vietnamese Mui Ne. A place that did not fit into my format, and in the format of which I did not fit in any way.
But the fact remains. I arrived in Mui Ne, stayed there for several days, after which I hurriedly left the resort. In the best traditions. At night.
Visiting foreign backpackers, who were mistakenly brought to Mui Ne by the finger of fate, curse and also try to get up as soon as possible, after which they heal their emotional wounds with bottles of beer in Saigon, where, sitting on small blue chairs in the Pham Ngu Lao area in the evening, they pour their exciting stories about the adventures in the “russian ghetto” in the ears of those who, for some reason, plan to go to Mui Ne, having read about the resort in the guidebook.
If at this moment, as if by the way, utter something like “By the way, my mother tongue is Russian”, in response you can only hear the sad “I’m very sorry. D'you wanna beer? I invite.”
It's not that foreigners don't like Russians, rather they are shocked by the surroundings of Mui Ne. A person simply cannot expect that he will come to Vietnam and find himself in the Russian 2000s. Nowadays, you don’t really need to go to Russia to hear Alla Pugacheva and Nikolai Baskov screaming their wonderful songs all over the street.
All this is right on the main street in Mui Ne, along with borscht, dumplings, sour cream and smiling Vietnamese who are trying to sell you dragon fruit for $ 3 apiece and say, “This is deseva, madam! Autumn is Deseva!
To be honest, Mui Ne is one of those rare places on Earth that I don’t like and don’t want to return to for any price. In this article I will try to talk about the resort impartially and note the main pros and cons that caught my eye.
You will say that everything has already been written a long time ago. Yes but not all. What they write about Mui Ne is more often a lie and custom-made nonsense copied by copywriters from other copywriters who have never been to Vietnam.
The very first tab, at the request of Mui Ne, led me to the site of the Raduga travel agency, which says that “Phan Thiet is perfect for family vacation with children, because there are comfortable beaches” and that Cape Mui Ne is, it turns out, perfect place For a relaxing holiday. Sure sure. How!
Let at least my dear readers learn the truth from me, since the agency "Rainbow" and others like them are not helpers in this.
The secret of the popularity of Mui Ne and Phan Thiet
Once Mui Ne was a simple village in the south of Vietnam. The fishermen were slowly catching fish and shellfish on their small boats, basins, the sun rose every day at 5.30 am and set below the horizon at 6 pm.
Like 1000 years ago, today the time of sunset and sunrise in Vietnam is unchanged. Like 100 years ago, now the streets of the village are filled with the intoxicating smell of fish sauce. But some things have changed and continue to change.
The wind constantly blows from the desert. In the early 2000s, this same wind brought the first kitesurfers and windsurfers to Mui Ne. Since then, the once deserted shores south of the fishing village have been actively built up with hotels and concrete houses.
Even 5-7 years ago, mainly surfers and kitesurfers rode in Mui Ne. During the day, the guys skated, and in the evening they got drunk and picked up girls in several local bars. A sort of party “for their own”. It was possible to live cheaply and have fun hanging out all winter in the company of kiter friends.
But one day, major Russian companies found out about Mui Ne. travel companies. The monsters of the travel industry saw the potential and began selling organized tours to a godforsaken village in southern Vietnam.
The Vietnamese know how to adapt, so they quickly learned the Russian language, raised the prices of housing and fruits, and turned the neighborhood of Mui Ne into the tourist capital of Vietnam, giving the sprawling resort the proud French name of Phan Thiet.

Boats from which they catch marine life, which tourists love so much
Beach in the morningMui Ne and Phan Thiet beaches
Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are located 7 km apart on the coast South China Sea. Tourists who have a higher travel budget settle in Phan Thiet. There's more expensive hotels and cafe prices are higher than in Mui Ne. Those with a more modest travel budget tend to find accommodation closer to the fishing village.
These resorts smoothly flow into one another and represent a strip of beaches 15 km long, along which there are hotels. From more expensive to cheaper.
There is in the north of Mui Ne wild beaches which can only be reached by bike. Some of them do not even have a road and you have to drive along the sand along the sea.
Despite the fact that Phan Thiet and Mui Ne are positioned as resorts for a family beach holiday, swimming there is very problematic, especially with small children.
The sea is dirty and rough. You can swim only in the morning, in the afternoon big waves, it is inconvenient to lie on the shore, because the sand blown by the wind unpleasantly cuts the skin
Why people who do not ride in Mui Ne are a mystery to me. There is only one explanation - tours are inexpensive, in the offices tour operators hang noodles on their ears, that's why people go

Poison boat on the sandFeatures of rest in Mui Ne (Phan Thiet), my reviews:
- The entire resort is located on both sides of one main street Nguyen Dinh Chieu, which stretches along the beach. All cafes, shops, hotels and guest houses are located on this street.
- Nowhere else in the world have I seen so many compatriots vacationing. Even less in Turkey. Signs in the native language hang on cafes and restaurants, and in the evenings Baskov’s drawling voice and Kirkorov’s groovy songs with Pugachova come from the speakers in the evenings. I don't know if it's possible to meet a Vietnamese in Phan Thiet these days who doesn't speak Russian.
- If you have previously lived in Thailand and are now looking for an alternative to long stay, then it is likely that Mui Ne will disappoint you. Better check out Nha Trang
- Phan Thiet is for you if you are into kitesurfing and surfing. There are dozens of instructors there to help you get on the board, but the beach in Mui Ne is not the best place to study. The sand strip is very narrow, there are big waves in the sea, the depth begins immediately near the shore
- There are no large supermarkets that you get used to in Thailand. Goods have to be bought in small private shops with an extra charge
- There are reviews on the Internet about meetings with rats, but I have not seen rodents. Let's believe we're dead
- Because public transport as such, you will have to rent a motorcycle. Bikes are rented both with a manual box and automatic ones. If you don’t know how to ride a bike and don’t want to, you can buy excursions in one of the many travel agencies.
- Be sure to hide helmets in the trunk. Our helmet was stolen from our bike right in the hotel yard

The ubiquitous kiters on the beach
Where to eat and buy groceries in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne
- There are more or less high-quality markets in Phan Thiet, called Coop Mart and Lotte Mart. When buying products, be sure to look at the expiration date!
- If you need fresh vegetables and fruits, then it is better to buy them early in the morning at the Hàm Tiến market in the center of Mui Ne. The same goes for fresh seafood. You need to come to the market for them from 6 to 9 in the morning
- In the evenings, fruit prices in small shops can be twice as high as in the market.
- Cafes change every year, service deteriorates, so check up-to-date information about cafes and restaurants on the spot, but rather find it in the social. networks of someone who now lives in Mui Ne and ask him
Market in Mui Ne
Attractions of Phan Thiet (Muine) and surroundings
Attractions are very conditional. There are not so many of them, and they are all mostly natural. Without much straining, all the surrounding beauty can be seen in one or two days, but this will require a bike.
red creek
Marked as Fairy Stream on maps. Centrally located resort area Mui Ne. It is a canyon with red walls and a stream flowing through it, in the place of which there used to be a deep river. It is because of the Red Creek that the water in the sea is so muddy.
The stream is difficult to miss, as there is a fish sauce factory near the entrance to it. As soon as you smell the strong smell of fish, you are there!
Cham Pasha Towers
Built in the 8th century, the remains of the Cham culture.
red dunes
5 km from Mui Ne village. You can get there by bus or bike. It's better to go in the morning. The day is very hot. Taxi will cost $7. Exactly how much does it cost to rent a bike for 1 day.
red dunesred canyon
Located on the way to the White Dunes. If you go with a tour, you will be released to the stream for two minutes. It is better to take a bike and go by yourself
White dunes and lotus lake
White dunes and wild beaches on the way to them are the best I have seen in Vietnam, so I highly recommend visiting this place. Can buy organized tour($10 per person) or rent a bike. On a bike, of course, more fun. Drive 40 minutes one way.
white dunesWhat else to see in Mui Ne:
In the vicinity there is Mount Taku with a statue of the reclining Buddha, Ke Ga lighthouse, Pitahaya plantations. Phan Thiet has several museums and an amusement park.
Mountain Dalat
If you came to rest for a couple of weeks, I highly recommend a three-day trip to Dalat. This French city in the mountains in the center of Vietnam.
Tours to Dalat are sold in Mui Ne, but it’s best to just buy a bus ticket, book a hotel in Dalat for a couple of nights, rent a bike on the spot and ride around the surrounding mountains and waterfalls, crack strawberries.
Streets of Da Lat city in Vietnam
Pangur waterfall near DalatPrices in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet
Housing prices start from 10-15$ per day for a modest room with a shower in a small guesthouse by the sea.
Prices for food in a cafe - 5-10$
Soup - 2.5-3$
Salad - from 3$
Meat and hot dishes 5$
Fresh - 2.5$
Coffee - 1$Kitesurfing training 50-60$ in a day
Equipment rental — from 50$ in a day
Guest for $10 per day
shellsPrices for excursions in Mui Ne
- Dalat - one day 40-55$ , two-day 110-150$ per person
- Mount Taco - group 30$ per person
- Group Taku Springs Binh Chau – crocodile farm – 60$
- White dunes - 10$ for one
Prices for the same tour in different agencies can vary greatly. For example, on the Dima tour you will be offered a trip to the Mekong Delta for $120, and on the Lena tour for the same excursion you may be asked for $150.
In general, if you don’t want to rent a bike and ride yourself, go to the agencies and ask who offers what. In addition to the standard “farm, crocodile, stream, dunes, Saigon”, you can find something really interesting and not beaten.
How to get to Mui Ne?
The nearest airport is located in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
From the center of Ho Chi Minh City by bus to Mui Ne, it takes 5-7 hours. The ticket costs 7-10$ , but to take the bus, you must first come from Saigon airport to the city center on Phan Ngu Lao, find ticket office and buy a bus ticket there or you can check the schedule in advance and buy a bus ticket online.
You can use the search form below. When the list of tickets opens, you can change the currency in the upper right corner (rubles, Vietnamese dongs, dollars). This is a local Asian search engine that shows all available options - from expensive to cheapest ↓↓
Bus from Saigon to Mui Ne
Is it worth going on holiday to Mui Ne?
Thus, if you, like me, prefer not to tourist places and in each country you are looking primarily for local flavor, then a vacation in Mui Ne will definitely not suit you. Better consider Nha Trang as an alternative.
Firstly, to eat seafood and chat with compatriots, you do not need to travel so far. Secondly, if you need a quality beach holiday then the coast of Phan Thiet paradise beaches cannot boast. The sea is dirty, the waves.
If, as a well-known mammoth, you are not afraid of waves, wind, rats, or drunk kitesurfers (or maybe you yourself are a drunk kiter), then congratulations. Mui Ne suits you! But you already know this without me and most likely you will not read this article.
If you have been to those places a few years ago, do not rush to argue with me and say how cool it is there. Since then, the resort has deteriorated and continues to deteriorate.
Unforgettable holiday in Vietnam! Sincerely,
23 reasons not to go on vacation in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne, Vietnam
