Resort town of Saki: All about Saki in Crimea. Saki is a resort with a long history

Small, even miniature city Saki rather resembles a cozy seaside village. Most of all, the resort became famous for its healing mud; even in the works of Herodotus and Pliny, the mud of Lake Saki is mentioned. Since then, the therapeutic effect has not diminished at all, and holidays in Saki have become even more popular.

Saki has a very mild coastal-steppe climate. In summer it is not so hot here because the sea breeze always blows. But in winter, the wind, despite the rather high temperature - on average -1 degree - makes you shiver from the cold.

The landscapes in Saki are quite typical for the steppe strip - sparse vegetation and flat surface. So, there will definitely be no “surprises” in the form of sharp climbs and equally tiring descents here.

It is clear that holidays in Saki are primarily chosen by those who want to receive medical treatment. But here there are all conditions for ordinary beach holiday. Moreover, you can relax at the sea, or you can relax on a salty lake, the local “Dead Sea”. But keep in mind that the “aroma” from the healing lakes is specific.

Infrastructure Saki

Although Saki is a very small town, the infrastructure here is developed. There are many shops, there are hospitals, pharmacies, there are no problems with public transport. Housing, again, for every taste and budget.

The city is divided into several districts. For a holiday, you should not choose accommodation near the station - there are few shops here, transport is poor, or in the area of the old village. The best choice- the center, this is the “resort heart” of the city - it is well-kept, close to tourist areas, and this is where boarding houses and sanatoriums are concentrated.

You can stop for a rest in Novofedorovka, 5 km away. from Saki.

Saki beaches

The beaches in Saki are sand and pebble, almost all belong to sanatoriums, hotels and boarding houses. They are well equipped, all “sea activities” are presented, entry is by pass. But there is also a city beach, which is no worse. And in the vicinity of the city there are many wild, uncrowded beaches.

The central city beach is very wide, equipped, clean. The entry into the water is gentle, no shoes required. What you need for a holiday in Crimea with small children.

Particularly popular beach area huge entertainment complex Solnyshko. The wide sand and pebble beach stretches for 450 m. Very close to the “Sun” there is a “New” beach with a sandy beach strip and a pebble entrance. New beach divided into free and paid areas.

Sun

The wide sandy beach “Priboi” is located near the recreation center of the same name and is free. And, most importantly, it is equipped for people with disabilities.

The sand and pebble beach “Golden Fish” should also be mentioned; you can find it near the hotel of the same name. The main advantage is the lack of crowds.

What to see in Saki

The main attraction of the city is, of course, the salty Saki Lake. It is not only very fun to swim like in the Dead Sea. But also incredibly useful. And the silt deposits of the lake are used in the treatment of various musculoskeletal diseases, arthritis, skin diseases, etc.

Another attraction from the same category is mineral springs . There are two pump rooms in the city; water can be collected for free.

Continuing the theme of mud therapy while relaxing, it’s worth checking out Museum, whose exhibition is located in a beautiful building from 1912. Here you can learn everything about the history of mud therapy in Crimea.

Since we're talking about museums, it's worth taking a look at Kara-Tobe Museum. It is located on a hill on the road to the sea. Works at the museum Kid `s camp, excavations are underway and construction of a Scythian village is underway.

Kara-Tobe Museum

There is also a very unusual attraction in the city of Saki - Brontosaurus monument. Moreover, it was erected in 1932, that is, during the period when monuments to the “leaders of the proletariat” were erected throughout the Union.

How to get to Saki

If you arrive at Simferopol airport, you will have to go through the city to Saki. That is, first to the bus station, from there by bus. Or to the Simferopol railway station, it is located in the same place as the bus station, and from there by train to Saki.

Or - by taxi. It is better to book in advance; a taxi at the airport will cost much more.

Useful information for tourists about Saki in Crimea - geographical position, tourist infrastructure, map, architectural features and attractions.

Saki is a balneological and mud resort in the western part of the Crimean Peninsula. It was built on the banks of the Saki mud lake 4 km from the Black Sea coast. Half an hour's drive from Saki is one of the largest and most popular resorts in Crimea - the city of Yevpatoria.

High season in Saki it begins in May and continues until mid-autumn. The climate in Saki is a cross between sea and steppe. The summer heat is well tolerated thanks to light winds from the sea.

The small village of Saki, home to only a few tens of thousands of people, acquired the status of a city in the middle of the last century. The history of Sak begins in distant times ancient times, when the village of Parasin appeared here. Subsequently, the village of Tuzly was formed in its place, whose name comes from the Tatar word “tuzluk,” which can be translated as “saturated salt solution.” The current name was given to the city by Empress Catherine II. The Persians once used the word “Saki” to refer to the Scythians.

Saki is located at the northern tip of Lake Saki. Within the city, which, by the way, is adjacent to several villages, there are several more lakes.

Transport

Saki – enough popular resort, so here in summer period Bus services are organized from many cities in Russia. All buses go through Kerch Bridge And main city Crimea – Simferopol. There are those who arrived at Crimean peninsula by plane, can take buses (some transport leaves directly from the airport, other buses make a stop near railway station in Simferopol). The road from Simferopol to Saki will take about 40 minutes.

You can also get from the capital of Crimea to the main balneological and mud resort of the peninsula by train, which heads to Yevpatoria and stops for a short period of time in Saki. Three trains depart in this direction from Simferopol station every day. You will have to spend an hour and a half on the way.

If suddenly there are no buses to Saki or you have to wait a long time for them, then you can get to Yevpatoria, from the bus station of which minibuses run to Saki. Those who stay in Saki will visit Yevpatoria more than once, since this is where all the benefits of civilization are located, from entertainment complexes for children to cinemas and restaurants for adults.

Attractions

Saki is a small city, so there are few attractions in it. Right in the city center on Simferopolskaya street rises beautiful church St. Elijah, built in 1903, used for its intended purpose until the end of the 30s of the last century and served as a club until the Great Patriotic War. Now it is a functioning temple. Very close to the church, on Revolution Street, which continues Simferopolskaya Street, there is Pushkin Square, where you can find copper sculptures depicting characters from the great poet’s fairy tales.

Revolution Street ends with Kurortnaya Street. A stone's throw from the intersection on Kurortnaya there is a Museum of Local Lore, the exhibition of which is dedicated to the development of sanatorium business in Saki. Local painters also sometimes hold their opening days here.

Opposite the museum lies the Resort Park - the heart of the resort, a meeting place for all vacationers. It reminds Botanical Garden, since in it you can see plants brought here from different parts of the globe. The main local monuments are the stele with the Eternal Flame and the statue of a brontosaurus, which has become the hallmark of the city of Saki. There are several sanatoriums in the park.

Behind the chemical plant, between Saki and the village of Pribrezhnoye, there is the Kara-Tobe settlement and a museum where finds discovered by archaeologists during the excavations of this ancient village are displayed.

Mud resort

You can come to Saki for treatment all year round. All necessary procedures using local mud are carried out in sanatoriums. In the summer, there is the possibility of self-treatment, although doctors do not recommend randomly covering yourself with mud.

For the first time, people learned about the miraculous properties of local mud back in the ancient period. The resort will tell you a lot local legends about miraculous healings from the effects of mud from Lake Saki. If there are exaggerations in these legends, they are small.

The main attraction of the city is the “supplier” of salts and mud – the shallow Saki Lake, which stretches for 5 km. Therapeutic mud, which helps with diseases of the genitourinary, nervous systems and joint diseases, is obtained from the eastern sector of the lake. On west bank there is a plant, which, however, does not emit substances hazardous to human health into the atmosphere. According to some experts, Saki mud and brine are quite comparable in their characteristics to products Dead Sea.

The first mud bath was built in Saki in the first half of the 19th century. Now there are nine sanatoriums on the territory of the resort, where they practice mud therapy and balneological procedures. Their water comes from several mineral springs, one of which leads directly to the Resort Park.

Beach holiday

Saki can be called beach resort, since it includes boarding houses located directly on the shore. Boarding houses are connected transport links with the Sac center, so their guests can combine treatment with a beach holiday. Buses between the coast and the city run very often - the interval is 20 minutes. The road to Saki, which is 5 km from the coast, takes 15 minutes.

The beaches have a sandy surface and a smooth descent into the water. This attracts many tourists with children to Saki. Local residents relax on the city beach, which is equipped with drinking fountains, showers, changing rooms, toilets and a children's playground with attractions. There is a rental point for sun loungers, several courts for playing volleyball and football. Next to the beach there is an alley with restaurants and shops. There are always a lot of people here. In the evenings there are discos here.

For the safety of tourists, lifeguards are constantly on duty on the beach. Although the Saki beach is quite spacious, there are plenty of vacationers here. There are always a lot of tourists on New Beach, where there is a rental point water scooters, on the beach of the Solnyshko sanatorium, next to which there is a popular water park. In search of solitude, people go to wild beaches, which are located behind the section of the coast attached to the Poltava sanatorium.

Vacation with children

Saki is ideal for relaxing with kids. Local sandy beaches no worse than in neighboring Evpatoria, the sea off the coast is shallow and safe even for the smallest. Many playgrounds have been built in the city and on the beaches, and near the Solnyshko sanatorium on the coast there is one of the most popular Crimean water parks called Banana Republic. 8 swimming pools, about 3 dozen attractions designed for children of different ages and adults, are surrounded by a tropical park decorated with exotic statues. Some slides reach a height of 21 meters, which provides them with a certain record - these are some of the most high rides in Crimea. The park has a “dry” section with intricate passages where children love to play.

Near the Solnyshko sanatorium there is another entertainment complex, where there are football fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a game complex with water slides.

The Resort Park in the center of Sak also has a special playground where kids can spend several hours in the fresh air playing with their peers.

In neighboring Yevpatoria, where minibuses run from Saki, there are many entertainment facilities for children: the Lukomorye amusement park with a small zoo, a dino park with dinosaur figures, and a dolphinarium.

Leisure

Saki attracts not only lovers of beach holidays and mud therapy. Active people who are not used to sitting in one place will find many activities to their liking here. Bicycles are available for rent at the Priboy recreation center. Having acquired a four-wheeled friend, you can explore all the surroundings of Sak. Behind Lake Saki there is the village of Novofedorovka, where there is an equestrian club that organizes horseback riding for everyone for a fee. On the beaches of Novofedorovka you can play volleyball and football, although you need to bring your own ball. They don't take money to play on the field.

In the village of Suvorovskoye there is a karting center “Crimea Grand Prix”, where you can ride racing cars. The cost is charged for 10 minutes of using the card. During this time, it is possible to complete the racing circuit 4 times. Children under 16 years old will not be given karts for rent.

In Evpatoria, the beaches offer many water activities. For about 3000-4000 rubles per hour you can rent a yacht with a crew for walks along the coast or sea fishing. Local diving clubs organize dives to two sunken ships near Yevpatoriya and to the steamship "Tsarevich Alexey Nikolaevich" on the Tarkhankut meat.

Shopping and dining

Souvenirs in Saki differ little from similar products in other Crimean cities. Here you can buy ceramic products, figurines and coasters made of juniper, sachets with lavender, essential oils, oriental sweets, Crimean wines, onyx crafts, etc. But every tourist also tries to buy cosmetics based on local healing mud. They are sold near the Priboy recreation center, in a local department store, and in the Gaia salon in the city center.

For those who are looking for an inexpensive cafe, where they will also serve tasty and satisfying food, local residents They recommend paying attention to Cheburechnaya No. 1, where they serve oriental cuisine: kebabs, pasties, manti and other equally delicious dishes. The Izyum cafe, located near the Resort Park, specializes in European cuisine. They serve excellent desserts, with which you should order fragrant Crimean herbal tea. Another interesting cafe is called “Magic Mill”. Its interior is stylized as a miller's house, waiters wear ancient costumes, and in the evenings guests are entertained by an ensemble playing folk melodies.

In the north-west of the Crimean peninsula lies the small resort town of Saki. It is located 5 kilometers from the Kalamitsky Bay of the Black Sea and neighbors the beautiful Evpatoria. The then-village received its name from the Crimean Tatar tribes Sak, who lived on the shores of Lake Chokrak, which translated means “living spring.”

The village of Sak received city status in 1952. But the healing properties of Saki mud were known back in ancient times.

The official date of birth of the resort is 1827. Famous Russian doctors N.N. Burdenko and S.S. Nalbanov worked in the city. Russian and European aristocrats came to Saki for treatment. N.V. Gogol and Lesya Ukrainka recovered their health in Saki.

Climate and ecology of the city of Saki

The climate of the city is very mild. The proximity of the sea, combined with endless steppes, gives a unique coastal-steppe climate. In summer average temperature stays at 23.3 Cᵒ, in winter -1 Cᵒ. The summer heat is perfectly refreshed by the sea breeze, and in winter there is almost no snow, but a piercing wind often blows. Rain is rare in Saki, which is why there is almost no greenery in the middle of summer. The sea coast is perfect for families with children. Pebbles, sand and clear water. The Sakas lie in the Gulf of Kalamita, so sea water warm, the average summer temperature is +17Сᵒ.

A big tragedy for the ecological state of the city was the chemical plant, the 5th largest in the former USSR. They produced manganese, sand-lime brick, hydrogen peroxide, purified platinum and much more. The plant went bankrupt and ceased to exist in the early 2000s. But irreparable harm to the environment was caused.

Another chemical enterprise, Iodobrom, still exists. Since 1926, flame retardants, inorganic iodine-containing products, etc. have been produced there. The harm that such an enterprise can cause to nature is difficult to assess.

A real monument to the city’s environmental disaster is the huge lake Chokrak, which lies within the city and seems to separate it. For a long time, city sewage, waste from dairy plants and oil depots were poured into it. Now the lake, full of fish, is frozen. Fishing or swimming in it is prohibited.

Population of Sak

Crimea is a multinational region. And Saki was no exception. More than 60% of the population is Russian, 25% are Ukrainians and 6% are Crimean Tatars, as well as Belarusians, Moldovans, Poles, Armenians, Jews, Karaites, and Greeks. Nationalities coexist well with each other. The residents of the town are smiling and good-natured.

On this moment The city's population is about 24 thousand people, but in 2006 there were more than 26 thousand. The outflow occurs due to the mortality of the elderly population and the movement of young people to big cities peninsula. As in any resort town Crimea, there are problems with year-round, well-paid work in Saki, which is why young people are moving to larger and more developed cities. The influx of population occurs due to the rural population that moves to Saki, and people with disabilities. They prefer to buy apartments in Saki, since the city is ideally suited for the needs of people in wheelchairs. In addition, the city’s sanatoriums specialize in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Saki is still a city where there are more middle-aged people. From 25 to 60 years. Many return to Saki closer to old age. Green, quiet town created for a leisurely life.

Sakchans are very good-natured and most of them are intelligent. Among the population there are many former researchers, medical workers, and people of creative professions. Citizens who swear and brazenly drink alcohol can only be found in the courtyards in the evening. These are young people, but other than making noise, they will do no harm and will even apologize.

There is no higher educational institution in Saki, but only a vocational lyceum (former vocational school) and a veterinary technical school. However, among the population, the majority have higher education. And mostly medical. This is due to the specifics of the city, because Saki is the oldest balneological resort in Crimea. People with vocational education make up more than 40% of the population. There are also many specialists in the tourism and agricultural industries.

Districts and real estate Sak

Miniature, even by the standards of Crimea, the city of Saki with a total area of 29 km² is still divided into four districts. This is the area of the railway station, the central district hospital, the village of a chemical plant and the center. People call everything much simpler and divide it into several parts. The elitism of the area and the price of housing varies very strangely. And often does not depend on the proximity of the resort area and the sea.

Railway station

Arriving in Saki, residents of distant regions immediately get to the railway station. There's nothing much to brag about here. Rebuilt in the middle of the last century, the station building carefully preserves the unique aura of the Soviet of Deputies. This applies to both appearance, and service. Don't wait for a friendly smile or a porter. But there are always a lot of taxi drivers around with a greedy gleam in their eyes.

This area is not popular among city residents. Public transport It's difficult to get there, you have to get to the center through a vacant lot and there are few shops. And the proximity of the station with its roar of trains and the abundance of dubious contingent does not inspire confidence in the townspeople. Housing prices here vary: from 30 to 45 thousand dollars for a three-room apartment, 30-20 thousand dollars for a two-room apartment and 20-14 thousand, respectively, for a one-room apartment. Prices depend on the availability of repairs.

The big advantage of this area is the extensive private sector. For literally 50-60 thousand dollars you can buy a cozy, equipped house with a plot behind a high fence and not be afraid of anything. The area is considered one of the most crime-prone in the city.

Center

People conventionally divide this area into resort area and the center itself.

The resort area is actually one Kurortnaya street, the longest in the city. Its length is 3 km. The main sanatoriums of the city are located on it: Sacropolis, sanatorium named after N.N. Burdenko, sanatorium Saki, sanatorium named after Pirogov or military clinical.

It originates from the cultural center of chemists and the city stadium, intersects with the central streets, and lies parallel to the Healing Salt Lake.

The street is very green, even in the middle of summer it remains cool and fresh. It is also very quiet, there are not many cars driving along it in the summer, and in the winter there are almost none. Therefore, housing on Kurortnaya Street is considered elite and costs more than anywhere else. It is worth noting that the first floors in Saki are at a special price, since there are many people with disabilities in the city. Ramps are available in almost all stores, pharmacies and organizations. An apartment on the first floor on Kurortnaya Street will cost about 80-90 thousand dollars. Other floors are also at a premium. For a three-room apartment they will ask 70-80, two and one-room apartments will cost from 35 to 50 thousand.

Several streets can be called the center, these are Lenin, Kuznetsova and Revolution. Stroitelnaya Street is worthy of a separate story; it is located on the shores of the picturesque Chokrak Lake. Populated mainly by former chemical plant workers. Housing prices here are very scattered. A three-room “Czech” can cost 63 thousand dollars, or maybe 45.

An apartment on the central streets of Lenin and Kuznetsov and those nearby will cost from 20 thousand dollars for a one-room apartment, from 30 and up to 60 for a two- and three-room apartment, respectively.

The center is considered to be the market area and Revolution Street, which leads to the city park. The oldest and most well-groomed street in the city is closed to vehicles. It originates from Lenin Square. Housing prices in this part of the city are also high. 3-room from 60-70 thousand, 2 and 1-room within 25-40 thousand dollars.

Village

This area is divided into an "old" and a "new" village. Built back in the early 40s for chemical plant workers, old village has a bad reputation. Far from the center and transport links. There are few shops there. It is considered the Saki Ghetto.

The “new” village was built up much later. Things are much better with transport, shopping and crime. Prof. Saki is there. Lyceum. Many private houses and a small cottage street give this area a good reputation. Housing in the “old” and “new” villages have almost identical prices. A one-room apartment will cost from 14 to 20 thousand dollars, 2- and 3-room apartments - 30 and 50, respectively.

Hospital

A very small area, where there are many private houses and two-story “Khrushchev” buildings. Recently a microdistrict of 12 and 17-story buildings was built there, which greatly refreshed the atmosphere. As is clear from the name of the district, the district hospital with its infrastructure is located there. Therefore, traffic flow, shops, and trading floors are well organized. The cost of real estate in this area varies depending on the age of the apartment and its condition. On average, from 45 thousand dollars for a 3-room apartment.

Novofedorovka village

Or simply Garrison, located 5 km from the city and lies near the sea. The Saki-4 aviation garrison has been located there since Soviet times, and it is famous for the fact that in 1945 it received the planes of Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt, who arrived at the Yalta Conference.

IN last years the garrison is actively being built up, and housing there costs the same as in Saki, from 30,000 for a one-room apartment, a 3-room apartment will cost from 57 thousand dollars. Prices depend on the proximity of the sea. Novofedorovka is actively being built up with private hotels and cottages.

City infrastructure

The age-old and slightly hateful problem of fools and roads is also relevant for Sak. There are roads and they lead mainly to the sea, so I would like to see them in perfect condition. Of course, the main highway leading to the sea and Evpatoria is maintained in good condition. But the coverage in the city itself needs to be mentioned separately.

The oldest resort in Crimea boasts several streets without asphalt at all. And holes and potholes will meet you in any area of the town. The city authorities see and understand everything, but cannot do anything. So much for the fools with the roads.

The central square boasts a tiled surface. Photo by qz1000000 (http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/qz1000000/)

But these roads are used by fearless city traffic. There is a railway station and a bus station in Saki. Minibuses run in two main directions: around the city and at sea. From bus station You can get to any city on the peninsula; the ticket price does not exceed $10. A few years ago, the town acquired its own taxi service, which has several cars for transporting people in wheelchairs.

The city’s sanatoriums operate year-round; over the entire period, more than 60 thousand people vacation in the city. It would seem that the city of Saki is blooming and smelling. But no one has abolished corruption, so new housing is not being built within the city. Only the area near the sea is worthy of the honor of being built up and well-groomed.

The village of Novofedorovka can boast of a whole residential complex from hotels, campsites and cottages. A Sakchan cannot afford a vacation, much less the purchase of such housing. New housing appears very slowly, and then mainly for the Crimean Tatar population of the city. This construction is financed by the Crimean Menjilis and with the participation of Arab states.

Heroes Square in Novofedorovka. Photo by qz1000000 (http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/qz1000000/)

City services, however, like all residents of Sak, are in no hurry and do not strain, in principle. This atmosphere of a “Spanish siesta” is always present in the city, which attracts vacationers from large, dynamic cities. Therefore, city services perceive breakdowns, disorder in courtyards, floods and other troubles as punishment from heaven and slowly, with prayer, begin to eliminate them. Housing and communal services prices are still quite high; a three-room apartment will cost about $50 a month.

In terms of children's educational institutions, Saki can boast of 6 schools and 8 kindergartens. One school and a kindergarten are located in the village of Novofedorovka. And schools and kindergartens are located as close as possible to every district of the city. There is a music school with talented teachers and a children's creativity center with a wide range of clubs.

The town has many prospects. Tourism, treatment, chemical production, Agriculture and much more. The main thing is that someone notices them and decides to invest. The townspeople need jobs like air. Sakha must grow, and not only towards the sea.

Enterprises and work in Saki

Work is a sweet word for a Sakchan. The problem of employment is especially pressing in the fall. The end of the summer season brings confusion in the minds and excitement at the labor exchange. Although there are large enterprises operating in Saki, the places there are allocated in advance. You can settle into a stall or tent without any problems.

Saki “Iodobrom” produces products for the markets of Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Japan, China, and Turkmenistan. The work is carried out in accordance with the international quality standard ISO 9001-2009. We produce aluminum hydroskid, potassium iodine, various flame retardants, inorganic iodine-containing products, corrosion-resistant stainless steel equipment and much more. The specialists working in this production have higher chemical, technical or pharmaceutical education. They undergo long training to work at Yodobrom.

Another unique enterprise creates cosmetics based on Saki mud. The Saki hydrogeological station produces unique products that are sold within the first two months after production and are sold only in Saki. The range of products is quite wide, but production volumes are limited. In addition to education, station employees must have work experience and agree to a modest salary.

The main jobs in the town are created by sanatoriums and private medical complexes. The largest health resorts are located along Kurortnaya Street, all the rest are located comfortably on the seashore along the street with the original name Morskaya.

The children's sanatorium "Blue Wave", the year-round complex "Poltava", the health resort of the security service of Ukraine "Parus" and the private complex "Yurmino" are large sanatoriums that create jobs mainly in the summer. The salary of junior medical and service personnel ranges from a maximum of 200 to a maximum of 300 dollars. Specialists with higher education receive up to $500.

Hardworking citizens without ambition will find work in the city's food production plants. The dairy and bakery operate constantly and at good volumes. The products are of high quality and tasty. They pay little, about $200, but bonuses in the form of products are possible.

Strong men can get a job in a shell rock quarry. This unique and environmentally friendly building material is mined deep in the Saki steppes. The work is physically challenging, but well paid. Up to $1000 per month.

Every Crimean has worked in public catering at least once. You can find work as a waiter or cook in establishments of various statuses in Saki all year round. The income is small, but stable. It fluctuates between 300-500 dollars per month.

"Little Chicago" on the Peninsula. This is what the city of Saki was called in the 90s. Indeed, the situation was tense. The legendary Salem group was also represented in Saki. Shaven-headed guys in Adidas suits were noted for their shots, impudence, protection of businessmen and division of territory with other brigades. The era ended with high-profile criminal cases and arrests.

The town's criminal history includes several high-profile murders. All of them are based on the redistribution of territories and spheres of influence in the 90s. Thus, in 1994, businessman Alexander Savich and his bodyguards Andrei Babenko and Vladimir Protasov were shot. The Lotos company, owned by Savich, wanted to start construction cottage complex on the seashore. But competitors interfered with Savich in their own way.

In 2008, deputy and businessman Oleg Pecheritsa was killed. The murder has still not been solved, but it is believed to be an act of revenge for past affairs.

There were no maniacs or, God forbid, serial killers in Saki. The main crime in the town is petty theft. All the surviving bandits dressed up in jackets and received parliamentary mandates. Over the past 15 years, Saki has transformed from "Chicago" into a provincial and tranquil place.

Attractions Sak

The visiting card of the city is undoubtedly Saki salt Lake. The salt concentration in its waters is 230-250 g per liter.

Lake silt deposits (mud) are used for treatment wide range diseases. These are various musculoskeletal diseases, residual effects of injuries to the central nervous system, arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteitis, pereosteitis, cervicoscapular radiculitis, infertility, prostatitis; ENT diseases, skin and dental diseases. The lake itself was a sea in ancient times, but now they are separated by a wide sandy dam, along which you can reach the sea coast within an hour or two.

Another gift of the city are mineral springs. They were opened in 1956, and now there are two pump rooms with hot carbonate-chloride-sodium water. It treats diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and skin diseases. You can collect water completely free of charge.

The symbol of Sak is a monument to the brontosaurus, which is installed between the pump room and the healing lake. It is significant because it is the first dinosaur monument in the world. It was installed in 1932. In those years, busts of Lenin and Stalin were “sculpted” everywhere, and here is “The Fight of the Brontosaurus with the Ceratosaurus”! The mystery of its creation has not yet been deciphered. The townspeople affectionately call it “brontik” and consider it a symbol of the pristine and natural origin of healing mud and the antiquity of the lake.

Works with him summer camp for children and adults, in parallel, excavations are taking place and a Scythian village is being rebuilt. In ancient times, the Evpatorion fortress was located on this site, then the Scythians and Sarmatians lived. During the Second World War there was a German bunker on that hill. It is not surprising that so many peoples did not leave this place for many centuries, no. From Kara Tobe Hill you can see almost the entire Kalamitsky Bay.

And even though the cult festival “Kazantip” is held every year in the Saki region, the village of Popovka, Saki itself cannot be called the club capital of Crimea. In the summer there are more clubs and discos, but in other seasons you can dance in the Eden and Coconut ICE establishments. Unobtrusive service, reasonable prices, music for every taste, and you are already on the wave of the “Saki siesta”.

Saki is the oldest health resort in Crimea. According to one version, it got its name from the Sak tribe, which roamed the peninsula in the 1st millennium BC, and according to another, from the Turkic word “Saki”, which is translated as medicinal mud.

During the Crimean Khanate, Saki was a small village. In 1827, a mud bath opened there. IN different time Lesya Ukrainka, Stepan Osipovich Makarov, Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol were treated there. In 1854, it was in Saki that coalition troops landed and besieged Sevastopol.
Now Saki is a resort that specializes in treatment with mud, brine and mineral waters.

About 200 thousand tourists visit it annually. The health resort is decorated with a necklace of attractions. Read more about them in the review below.

The name Kara-Tobe translated from Tatar means “black hill”. It was given to the area during the time of the Crimean Khanate. Archaeological research on Kara-Toba began in 1983. Since that time, many ancient Greek and Scythian monuments have been excavated.

Based on the foundation found in the settlement, a Scythian dwelling was recreated. It consists of rooms for people and animals, and a small courtyard. The house is furnished with exact copies of items that were discovered in Kara-Toba.

Also at the site of the Kara-Tobe settlement, the remains of a Greek fortress with a main donjon tower were discovered. Scientists claim that these are the ruins of Yevpatoriya Castle, which was built in the 2nd century BC and was an outpost of Greek trade in Crimea for 150 years.

There are only 238 exhibits in the museum's collection. But they are all unique and are more than 2000 years old. Its main pearls are a set of casts from a silver vessel that was used by a jeweler, ancient Greek women's jewelry and Scythian ceramics. A diorama is open at the establishment. It depicts the Evpatorium fortress, approximately as it looked in ancient times.

Museum of Local Lore in Saki

The first museum in Saki was founded in 1909 by the senior doctor of the mud baths, Professor Sergei Sergeevich Nalbandov. He also opened a library at the institution with several hundred books on medicine. In 1910, the museum received the first water samples from the Saki artesian well.

In the 20s of the last century, the first Saki museum was closed. Only a few exhibits from his collections have survived. In the mid-30s, at the control and observation station of the resort, they again began to collect things that tell about the history of the health resort. During the Great Patriotic War, the exhibits of the second museum were destroyed.

And only in 1983, the city authorities of Sak transferred the mansion of Countess Panina to the local history museum. 5 years later, after the reconstruction of the house, the collection and organization of collections, and the design of exhibitions, the institution opened its doors to visitors.
Now the museum displays exhibitions dedicated to:

  • The ancient period of the history of Crimea.
  • Famous people, treated in Saki.
  • To the outstanding doctors of the Saki health resort and the history of mud therapy.
  • Crimean War of 1854-1855.
  • Yalta conference.
  • Scientific testing springboard for carrier-based aviation (THREAD).
  • Great Patriotic War

The institution is located at: st. Kurortnaya 29 in a mansion from the early 20th century. According to legend, the museum house was originally intended for Tsarevich Alexei. In the rooms of the building, the last heir to the Russian throne was supposed to take baths to cure hemophilia.
Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all days of the week except Saturdays and Mondays. City bus stop No. 2 is located 100 meters further from the sea than the museum.

Saki Resort Park was founded in 1891 by gardener P.S. Melnicheko. Before the first trees took root in it, all the holidaymakers in the village languished from the heat on the bare steppe. The development of the park began with the drilling of an artesian well from which water was taken for watering the plants. Later, the first trees were brought and planted, and 3 reservoirs were opened. The shapes of 2 ponds followed the contours of the Black and Azov seas. The park has become a real oasis, attracting holidaymakers and residents of Saki.

An artificial hill was created in it, lined with coniferous and deciduous shrubs. In total, in the first years of the park's existence, 8,700 plants were rooted, which belonged to 78 drought-resistant species of flora of Europe, America and Asia. 4 years after its founding, the reserve received a bronze medal from the agricultural exhibition of the Tauride province.

During Soviet times, Saki Park was expanded several times and in 1964 was included in the list of monuments of landscape gardening culture.

Now it has an area of 23 hectares. About 100 species of trees and shrubs grow on the territory of the institution. At the site of the first well, which provided water for the park, a stone pillar was erected. It also marks the border of the Saki hospital at the time of the foundation of the reserve. In the park there are monuments to the poetess Lesya Ukrainka and the writer Nikolai Gogol, who visited Saki in the mid-19th century.
Saki Resort Park is located near the sanatoriums "Saki" and them. Burdenko. Near the park there is a mineral water pump room. The park can be reached on foot, by personal car or by bus number 2. The latter's stop is located a block further from the sea than the reserve.

Lake Saki is a reservoir and a natural laboratory. Its area is almost 10 km². The bottom of the reservoir is covered with natural balsam - mud saturated with salts and minerals. On the site of the lake several thousand years ago there was a river bed. Due to rising water levels in the Black Sea, it was flooded. The waters of the sea washed a spit 200-600 meters wide, which separated the channel from the sea and made it a lake.

Since the Middle Ages, salt has been mined from the reservoir. At the end of the 19th century, a wooden dam was built, which divided the lake into 2 parts. On the smaller, northeastern half, the “white gold” was evaporated. Its production and operation of the Saki chemical plant was stopped just a few years ago due to the threat of destruction of the reservoir’s ecosystem and flooding settlements, which are located on its shore.

According to data obtained after analyzing the mud of Lake Saki in 2001, the content of lipids, amino acids, and the amount of vitamins in the reservoir are several times higher than those of the Dead Sea. The mud from the reservoir is packaged and delivered to several dozen sanatoriums in Russia.

Near Lake Saki there is a source of mineral water “Crimean”. It has a temperature of +37...45°C and belongs to low-mineralized, hydrocarbonate waters.

Several sanatoriums, boarding houses and recreation centers have been built on the shores of the lake. Every year, people with gynecological, skin, urological diseases, ailments of the nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and musculoskeletal system relax there.

Since the creation of the mud baths in 1827, the Crimean clergy has constantly raised the issue of building a large temple in Saki for residents and guests of the village. In 1861, a small church was erected in the health resort, and in 1894 - a 3-story bell tower. And only in 1902-1903 money was allocated for a large religious building. The architect of the building was Kh.V. Vasiliev, who had previously built churches in Alupka, Perekop and other cities of Crimea.

The architect planned to build a temple in the Russian-Byzantine style, 34 meters long and 24 meters wide, with 1 large and 4 small domes. He well connected the new church with the existing bell tower into a single ensemble. In the 1920s, the religious building was converted into a club, and in 1942, the German occupation administration again gave it to the Christian community.

In the 1990s, the church was reconstructed and the original appearance of the temple was restored. Now the building is open to parishioners every day.

The church is located in the central part of the city at the address: Simferopolskaya street 38. At the “Saki” stop, which is located 50 meters from the temple, buses of routes No. 1660 and 1661 drop off and pick up passengers.
